This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of April, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [325], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through her son, Mr. [257].

Time of Reading 11:40 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body; this we have had before.

2. As we find, there have been many changes; some are good, some are not so good. The anxieties about the body, and for the body, have made and do make for very poor response. But there are the better conditions as the body makes for its OWN reactions in making for those things that would bring about the better reactions. The weakness still continues, and the jar to the body has strained the muscular forces; and those conditions in the right side and across the abdominal area have made for some very, very unsavory reactions. With the use, however, of those things that have been suggested, with the Plantain or the Ash and Iodex, these should gradually respond - and will. Though the weakness continues, we would make for the better reactions to the assimilating forces by not the bitters but those of the nature of champagne with the properties that have been indicated to settle the stomach.

3. We would keep the light rays in the manner as indicated.

4. And with the using of same, a gentle massage - not a deep manipulation but a GENTLE massage of the body - would be more RESPONDING, and responsive, and make for better rest for the body.

5. Ready for questions.

6. (Q) What causes pain in left [right?] arm and hand? (A) Strain and poisons in system from poor eliminations. The properties as the body has found to be the more helpful in these directions for eliminations will make for the better results.

7. (Q) Why does walking hurt her? (A) Walking rather EXHAUSTS the body. But we will find that a very LITTLE of it taken and gradually lengthened will be helpful, or to sit in the open will be more helpful with a LITTLE exercise.

8. (Q) What doctor would be best to have? (A) That as has been maintained.

9. (Q) Please give diet for Spring. (A) Those foods that are naturally of the blood changing, or the leafy vegetables; not canned, but rather those that are the fresh are the better.

10. (Q) Was there any specific injury from the fall? (A) As has been indicated, merely a strain. No condition in the structural portion as an injury, as we find.

R1. 4/27/35 Son [257]‘s ltr.: “I made an error in Mother’s rdg. and asked about the left side. It is the right side instead. The doctor said she should use the x-ray lamp on her side. Did you get any such idea from any of the late readings? Ask Gladys to look it up and let me know, please; that is, any kind of light besides what she is now using.”

R2. 4/29/35 EC’s ltr.: “No, [257], we have never had any suggestion for your mother to use the x-ray. Rather the rdgs. have been insistent that the ultra-violet be used for her, with the Ash; which seems to be the most efficient in her particular condition - and especially if she uses the ointment which she has. Of course, I know it is the right side. This we have had many times.”

R3. 5/7/35 Mother [325]‘s ltr.: “I rec’d the rdg. and as usual it is just right, although I did want to ask some very important questions about the right side. Thanks so very much for the rdg. I do not want it discussed with [257] or [903] as they do not understand. I am a great deal better but I can’t stand much of anything. I am still weak…

“Please find enclosed March and April dues for the Bulletin.”

R4. 5/17/35 EC’s ltr.: “Why don’t you make up a list of questions and let us ask them in a rdg? Am sure that will be the best way. You know, when I receive a wire or letter from [257] asking to rush the rdg., I don’t have time to write and ask for your questions, but if you would make the list we’ll be glad to get it in for you at any time. You know that.”

R5. 5/19/35 Son [257]‘s ltr.: “I am still worried about Mother, as she seems to have pains in her arms that bother her a lot. Do you feel that the present lamp she uses with the Ash is sufficient? The doctor said he felt she should take a stronger lamp to prevent any trouble developing later on. What does he mean about that? Her arms ache her and her breast at times opens again. Some day when your ck. rdgs. are not too heavy I wish you would ask if Dr. Goodman, who is a specialist on lamp treatment, should give any different lamp than she is now using, what causes the pains in her side and arms.”

R6. 6/6/35 “I have not been very well. Please find enclosed $2 for May and June Bulletin…

“I would like for you and Gertrude to be present at [460]‘s wedding. I am sending no invitations out - inviting only her brothers and sisters. […] is doing the same - just a family wedding, but as you are my foster son, you stand in line with brothers and sisters, so please come - 27th of June…[563] graduated Tues. from Ethical school, and I was happy that I was here to be with her. So all my babies are men and women now, and I thank God He let me see them all grown.”

R7. 6/15/35 Son [257]‘s ltr.: “Mother looks very bad. I am terribly worried over her. I wonder if she would not be better off for the coming year to live with [459] and let [563] aid in the [459] school. Since [460] is in N.Y. and it works out, if she should ask for a rdg., and I know she needs one, I would like to know if that would be a good move. She needs attention and [459] would give it to her, as you know. I understand that the doctor told her that she should have the x-ray treatment in addition to her sun lamp. Has that ever been asked? Her arm pains her so, and she has congestion again, as she coughs. Of course much of it is from worry, but I am in such a fix [financially] I have not been able to do the things I have been doing for her. I hope now, however, to get a little more earning power.”

R8. 6/18/35 “Mother is very disappointed that you all can not come for [460]‘s wedding. And I want you to know, on both sides of the family you were the only ones invited outside of brothers and sisters and father and mother, and grandmother. So you see how high you rate with the [325] family. She told them you were a son, hence she made no exception, and Mother’s will as usual will be done. Judge, I hope we can get her back on her feet. Once the girls are married, and she can enjoy a few years of peace and happiness it will be a boon for both you and myself. She has withstood every test, in backing me to back you, and no one dares to intrude. My, what a victory - and all through your persistency - and we will win yet.”

R9. 6/22/35 “Mother is not at all well. She has not written you because she thinks you are too busy to worry about her and then she said today that she would wait until after the wedding. She needs rest and quiet, and treatment. The doctor said that she needed the violet ray treatment, so be sure when the physical is given that this question is asked, and by whom, or whether Dr. Goodman will be the right doctor, as he has all the lamps, or whether the present lamp is all that she needs.”

R10. 7/12/35 Mother [325]‘s ltr.: “I hope you had a nice [Congress] meeting and that all are well. I have been feeling terribly ill. The tumor [of breast] has been hurting me, also my arm - my right arm. [257] has been after me to get a check up, but I told him as I have not had a massage, what was the use? So now I have Dr. Ryan [Ph.T? Dr. Rein?] and I would like for you to check up on him [She submitted questions]…
