This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of July, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [325], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:50 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. N.Y.C. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes. As we find, those conditions that have made for the greater disturbance in the tumorous reaction in the breast are making some inroads. And the drain upon the system from same causes the weakness, the irritation, and the activities of the mental body have made and do make for the reactions that cause irritations to the body. Hence we have a cycle.

2. The better applications in the present, as we find, would be:

3. The adjustments that make for the drainages from the upper dorsal and cervical area.

4. Plantain application ABOUT the area where the distress or inflammation arises.

5. Keep the drainages of the tumor itself.

6. Keep the body quiet.

7. Keep as much of the body-building foods as possible; and, naturally, those things that make for the coagulation in the system; as:

8. Cod Liver Oil (preferably in the White’s Cod Liver Oil Tablets); beef juices or the liver extract (preferably Valentine’s); and things of such nature.

9. Keep in the open as much as possible.

10. When the body gets the sunshine it is not necessary for so much of the violet ray.

11. However, as we find, the DEEPER therapy or the X-Ray WOULD be effective - if not given too STRONGLY.

12. Such will make for the better conditions in the present.

14. (Q) Why does Ash and Iodex get under skin and cause bursting of skin? [Ash does not dissolve.] (A) This should not be rubbed so close to the edges. Rather use in the present, at this time, the Plantain with the Cream.

15. (Q) What is the condition of the tumor? [Is it dissolving or going to inside?] (A) As indicated, it is progressing some in the present, or making inroads. Hence the necessity for drainages through the system by the manipulation, and the staying of same with those applications of the Plantain - WITH the vibrations of the Ash taken internally, and body-building foods to create more coagulative forces to hinder the spread of same.

16. (Q) Is the massage given as it should be? (A) As indicated, to set up drainages, it should be in those areas of the upper dorsal and cervicals, specifically.

17. (Q) How many times a week should I have treatments? (A) Three or four times would not be too often, if not given too deeply.

18. (Q) Should I use the doctor’s table for treatment? (A) This is very good. Most of this, as we find, may be made with the sitting on the stool rather then on table.

19. (Q) For my better health and happiness, should I renew the lease on my present apartment or live at [daughter [459]‘s] house? (A) As we find, when all conditions, surroundings are considered, it would be better at [459]‘s; not renewing the lease.

20. (Q) Just who would be best to give the X-Ray treatments in the present and just how and where should they be given? (A) Over the area where the distresses are, and should be as flashes. That one who HAS attended the body and has SUGGESTED same would be well.

21. (Q) How long at a time should the body stay in the sunshine? (A) From thirty minutes to an hour or an hour and a half, dependent upon how bright the sun is or the time of day.

22. (Q) Should this be just after taking the Ash, or should the violet ray treatment be given anyway? (A) The violet ray is more effective than the sun bath with the Ash.

23. (Q) Any other advice for the body at this time? (A) We would keep those things as suggested here, for the better conditions in the present.

R1. 7/23/35 EC’s ltr. to [257]: “We got your mother’s rdg. a day or two after yours, and it didn’t sound so good, [257]; though the information was put in a nice way, as it usually is. It makes me quite a bit uneasy about her. I hope the suggestions for her will prove as helpful as heretofore.”

R2. 7/27/35 Son [257]‘s ltr. to EC: ”…I have just left Mothers and I believe you had better send the reading to me if it is to cause her any worry - otherwise mail to her direct. She worries over her condition - the hot weather - she is better, I believe under the aid of the doctor - as long as we know he is carrying out the treatment. The tumor was hard - he moved it - and I think the body might absorb it - hence all the questions. She needs blood and strength. I must keep her in good health to enjoy a little of life - as she has little pleasure except to raise a large family and fight for their background as you know…

“Is Dr. Rein [Ryan (?) Ph.T.] giving the body treatments that will aid in overcoming the conditions of the right breast? Should he crack the neck and exercise the arms, or just give the massage of the spine for drainage purposes? How many treatments should she take yet and how often, from Dr. Rein? Should she take the x-ray flashes with or without radium treatment? What doctor in N.Y. will understand the x-ray flash treatment and at the same time understand her ailment and its treatment?

“Since the Ash affects the body - in the salve - how can the plantain be mixed to aid the body and not cause the pain? The rdg. said not to put it around the edge. She doesn’t put it near the edge. What was meant? What causes Ash to seem to lodge in one place and make her feel like the system is filled up? When this feeling comes, should she withhold taking the Ash for a few days? What caused the hard lump in the breast to move from the position it held? Is the system carrying the poison off properly since the hard spot moved?

“What will aid the bowel elimination, since she can not stand the oil the doctor recommends?

“Beef juice does not agree with her. Why? How can it be taken, or what will be a good substitute that will agree with body? What food will make blood? What will stop the pain in the right side when it hurts so?

“The Misacordia Hospital claim they have discovered a treatment to stop pain. Is there anything to it?

“Will this growth be stopped by treatment or will it develop further? What will stop further inroads to the system?

“What causes the cough? What will stop it when the attacks occur? Would a masseuse giving just massages be better than treatments of Dr. Rein [?]?

“The body has such a hard time finding foods to eat that agree with her. What foods will be tasty and yet agree with her? Would smoked corn beef fried crisp be good for the body? What fowl best? What will give the mental body courage to carry on and take hold of herself? If she can take hold of herself what can her expectancy of life be? What type of x-ray lamp should body take for the aid to a long, well-rounded life? Can lamp be taken at home, or will it be necessary to go to doctor’s office? Any liquors for body building?

“P.S. 7/29/35 Please get this and send direct to me. I am at Mother’s and we worked out the questions together. She is better. If we can conquer the pain, get her food right, her elimination in good condition, and proper lights with a good doctor, I believe we can give her another ten years of life to help us accomplish our aims for humanity. Will write fully tomorrow. Love to all, and many thanks.”

R3. 7/29/35 Mother [325]‘s ltr: “I have been wanting to answer your letter but I had such pain in my right side that I could not write. The rdg. said that I should use the plantain but it has the Ash also, and in last rdg. said not to put plantain on abrasions. The tumor is very dry, only on two places, but seems to shrink into nothing, so which is what. Maybe you can speak up on it sometime. The chiropractor is very hard on me, I think [Ryan? Rein?]. Ask if I need all of treatment, and what part of it. Is it well to rest up on Ash once a month? Does it make my skin so dark, the Ash? I can’t see how I could live with [daughter [459]] when I can’t stand a little noise.

“The heat here has been so terrible that really, Judge, I did not think that I would pull through, but it is cooler now and I feel some better. Thanks so much for your help. When I think of finances I could scream.”

R4. 7/30/35 Son [257]‘s ltr.: “If you have not given the rdg. on Mother I wish you would add these questions. She seems to have been suffering a lot but on account of the girls and the wedding [of [563]] she wanted to keep on and to herself. I saw the condition last night. It is wonderful the way the lower part has healed. The upper part does not seem inflamed but has one or two black spots about the size of a pea. The top is very hard, or firm it seems to me. Now what bothers me is whether she should have it to continue this way, or if its removal would be safe. I am in a quandary, and yet you know how much suffering can come through a thing like this. If her stomach is kept in shape where she can eat and digest her food, I believe we can build her up in good shape. There is no question the rdgs. have done a lot for her, and she knows how to work with them. So you can be assured that she will cooperate…

“What now causes the bitterness and what will stop it, as she can hardly stand it at times. Does it come from the pancreas at all? What causes the blueness of the veins? Does Ash affect it? Is it detrimental in any way to body’s recovery? Would a removal at this time of the extending part of the breast be advisable? Could body stand it, if advised?

“Dr. Ben Schwartz wants to be helpful, at 270 or 277 Park Ave. What can he do for her, since she must have a doctor? What does the Ash do for her now, and what doses are proper? When this pain comes in her side what will stop it, that will not affect her digestion or stomach?

“What can she do to aid herself eat? Would just lancing the condition, although it is not inflamed, be any assistance? How deep-rooted is the condition? Can it be coped with, to extend the body’s life?

“Is there any place the body could or should go for a change, that would be beneficial and restful? Should she renew the present lease of her home? Would a hospital treatment do her good? Should Radium be applied, or is that the type of case? What is meant by the flash treatment of the x-ray?

“If I have repeated please eliminate the questions. Thanks very much. Pardon haste, as I must get out to see the trade.”
