This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of July, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [3286] - Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Jeanette Fitch, Stenos.]
Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.Y.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, this we have had before. These conditions were a long time coming on, don’t be impatient. There will come the consciousness of change, by following through with all the suggestions given. It may require some several more rechargings of the Appliance. Do follow with the massages after each treatment with the Appliance, as has been indicated, especially for the centers on the areas for the activities of the nerves of the limbs, along the body-forces to the limbs. These keep regularly. Where the knee especially is affected the oils may be massaged more than once a day, if this is desirable, and we will find as the mental-self becomes more aware of the spiritual-self, it will begin the use of the limbs gradually, not all at once but gradually.
-
Don’t become impatient. Do keep up the treatments.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are the treatments with the Wet Cell Appliance and the massage being done correctly? (A) These have been done fairly well. Don’t hurry through with them. Know that they are purposeful. Do keep the plates a little cleaner. Do prepare them twenty minutes before they are to be applied to the body. Do disconnect when not in use. Then attach together twenty minutes before they are to be attached to the body.
-
(Q) My first Physical Reading referred to an “infection and high fever”. What kind of an infection was meant? (A) This was from that which is called polio.
-
(Q) What causes fleeting pains in the right side of my head and right leg? (A) These are nerves attempting to recuperate or to send out “feelers.” Do massage the whole area with the oils suggested.
-
(Q) Should my right arm and hand get direct treatments by the Appliance? (A) The whole body gets direct treatments by the Appliance if the massages are given along the whole area of the spine and the limbs also.
-
(Q) What is the cause and the cure of the dark mark on the outside of my lower left leg? (A) Accumulation of blood under same from breaking of cells. This must gradually be diminished. Massaging with camphorated oil once or twice a week gradually will disseminate it.
-
(Q) Any other advice? (A) Do follow through with the spiritual counsel also, and you will find bettered conditions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/4/54 Letter by IMG to [2982] seeking current whereabouts or address of [3286].
R2. 10/25/55 Reply from [2982] giving address of [3286] in … Fla.
R3. 11/8/55 GDT Letter by IMG: ”…In October of 1943 Edgar Cayce gave you a physical reading. In July of 1944 he gave you a check physical reading. Since that time we have not heard from you. We are most anxious to have a report for our files on your case. I notice from your check reading that you did order the Wet Cell Appliance and that you used it at least until the time of your last reading.
“We would be especially interested to know whether you continued to use the Appliance along with the other suggestions given - massage, etc. - after the date of your second reading; if so, for what period of time and with what results, if any.
“We have quite a number of readings on Polio, and it is a subject in which doctors who inquire about the material here are most anxious to have reports on.
“You may be interested to know how we happen to have your address. Mrs. [2982] was here this summer, and she told me that she knew you would be glad to give us an up-to-date report on your case. We would be especially glad to have any additional comments you would care to make about your readings. Such as: Did you keep periods of prayer, as suggested? Do you feel that the readings described your case accurately? If so, what specifically would bear this out? If not, wherein did the reading fail to give a correct diagnosis?…”
R4. 11/16/55 Letter: ”…Your letter asking for information on results of my Cayce reading arrived a few days ago, and even without going into great detail it served to take me way back. 1943 WAS a long time ago, both literally and figuratively, and I’ll try to give you whatever I can to the best of my ability.
“My first reading, physical, was given during a late afternoon hour, and while it was a new experience to me and I knew little if anything about what I was supposed to do, it did seem logical that if I stayed perfectly still and prayerful I might be a better subject. I did just that - in fact, those particular few minutes are vivid to me even now because of what happened. At exactly the moment (checked later by the reading transcript) when Mr. Cayce started, I felt a warm beam come through me, and then felt it moving through various parts of my body. This was NOT imagination, NOT hallucination. It happened, and even though I can’t explain it clearly I can very easily recapture the feeling for myself. The feeling ceased after a few minutes, and I’ve never had anything like it since.
“I used the Wet Cell Appliance and massage as suggested, faithfully, for - I think - well over a year. I do believe I was still using it in 1945, because we sold our house then and I know that the Appliance was dismantled along with other of my belongings, so it must have been in use.
“Yes, I kept the prayer periods, adhered to everything I was told to do. I believe the readings, first and second, did accurately describe me, physically and psychologically. Also, the check reading told me to rub camphorated oil on an old plaster-cast pressure mark and this mark disappeared completely after a few years. As to overall results of the readings - I wish with all my heart I had something to tell you, not so much for my sake but for the sake of others similarly bound who might be helped to go free, but on that score I have absolutely nothing to say one way or the other.
“If you have information on others who were helped from the results of polio I would be most happy to know about it…”
R5. 11/22/55 IMG letter: ”…Mrs. Turner [GD] has asked me to write you in reply to your letter of the 16th.
“Your report is most interesting, particularly in view of the experience you had during your first physical reading. You will be interested to know that there are quite a number of reports in the files from people who wrote us of similar experiences which apparently resulted from keeping that period in prayer. This was described in the readings as ‘an attunement’ which was most helpful to Mr. Cayce in getting a reading. In many cases he commented on the experience the person was having, sometimes describing the experience taking place. I am enclosing a sheet of extracts giving such examples, for I know you will find them interesting.
“And now for a few comments on your readings. If you will refer to your check-physical reading you will see that progress was being made. True, it might take a period of 7 years for recovery, and this in turn would take time and patience, but I feel certain that would not deter you. I am also enclosing extracts on the subject of cycles and especially call to your attention the second extract on page 2, so that you may better understand why a long period of time for this particular problem is necessary.
“There is once case in the files on polio with which I am very familiar. This girl [2778] was 30 years old when she came for her reading. She was stricken with Polio when she was 1 year old. From time to time they operated on her legs.
She was completely paralyzed - from the limbs down, so to speak. She used huge clumsy braces and crutches in order to walk. Her reading gave her the Wet Cell Appliance and massage - plus a heat cabinet, which we had made up for her. I helped her with these treatments, and can report that in three month’s time she could stand alone. In two years’ time she was only using braces from the knees down and a cane to help her keep balance. In one of her 4 readings she asked the same question you did in your second reading - (Par. 6-A)
- and was given the same answer, indicating that progress was being made. She also had a life reading which gave her the clue to the karmic origin of her condition. It is not possible for me to go into great detail via mail, but I would be glad to discuss this case with you should you find it possible to come to Virginia Beach. On the basis of her progress alone, I would certainly encourage you to take out your readings again and follow the treatments outlined for you.
“So that you may know something of my background in experience with the readings, I will tell you that I have been working here since 1938, and am now in the process of setting the records in order so that they may be preserved by micofilming them. I consider Mrs. [2982] one of my best friends - she tells me she is a friend of yours, too.
“Hoping that you will find sufficient encouragement to again follow your reading, and in any case wishing you every good thing…”
R6. 12/9/55 Letter: ”…Many thanks for your most interesting and thoughtful letter of Nov. 22. Please forgive my not having answered sooner, but things have been a little rushed here and this is the first real opportunity I have had to do this.
“First let me tell you how much I appreciate the reading excerpts you sent. I have read and re-read them, and as with all of the readings, you find a little more each time you go over them.
“Now, about my own readings. I had never been told anything about cycles in reference to the readings, or about needing to keep on taking the treatments for any length of time - seven years or any specific span. I took them for as long as it was possible for me to do so, and then circumstances made me stop. All in all I must have taken them for at least a year, faithfully. To be frank, since I could detect no change I felt no regret about having to stop. Had I known that one year was only a seventh of the time needed - well, I doubt that I have to tell you that no combination of circumstances could have stood up to my determination to continue. Nor would my family - and more devoted people you won’t find - have permitted a cessation. But whereas the girl you mention saw radical change in just three months, I saw none after a year.
“You say that you helped her with her treatments, and by that I assume you mean her massages. In my case there was no one to give me any help (we had a rooming house then, and my mother had to prepare and serve breakfast in the morning when I was taking the treatment, and I couldn’t take the treatments at any other time as our sleeping room was a parlor and had to be opened for the day) and I massaged myself. Evidently that wasn’t too bad though, as the check reading didn’t criticize it.
“If you could possibly give me some hint as to the karmic reason for your friend’s condition it would be wonderful. For years I was haunted by that, because it seems to me that something close to murder must be the debt that incurs such drawn-out payment. I do not tend to dramatize myself and doubt that I ever have, but the consideration of the fine balance in the universe leads to that conclusion, morbid though it is.
“Your letter shook me to my soul. I have tried all kinds of physical correction programs in the intervening years, each not only to no avail but each leaving an additional physical drawback. Never was I told I didn’t do enough, rather the trouble I ran into always seemed to come from trying to do too much. And now to realize that I stopped short the one time I could have stepped up -
“I don’t know whether it would be possible for me to resume using a Wet Cell Appliance - even if I could get one - but do you have any information on whether the massage alone would be advisable? The oils could be bought with no great trouble, and if it made any sense I could combine it with my prayer sessions. Any help you could give me on that would be very much appreciated.
“I’m glad to know that Mrs. [2982] is still traveling around as usual, and assume that she and [husband] are well and happy. We haven’t been in touch with them for a long time. Could you please send me their current address?
“I’m hoping to hear from you again. Your letter was thrilling, especially coming as it did out of the blue (that color seems most apt). Many thanks, again…”
R7. 12/14/55 IMG letter: ”…Enclosed you will find a ‘rough’ copy of reports, and the physical readings given for the girl that I wrote you about in my letter of 11/22/55. This was prepared for a friend of mine here in Virginia Beach, and therefore prepared and described with her problem in mind.
She was stricken with polio some 2 years ago, and she had hoped to get cooperation on following the suggestions in the readings given for the girl [2778] with whom I had worked. Since I did not feel that the karmic implications were the same, I didn’t make a copy of the life readings. If you would like to have complete copies of the two life readings, I can get them made up for you and run on an Ozalid machine for $6.00. Since you use the typewriter so beautifully, you could take what notes or information you would like from the enclosed material - this together with the Life Reading copies would give you the case complete. It is quite possible you would understand it better if you had the complete set of readings.”
[Brief explanation and description of IMG’s karmic relation to [2778] as it referred to the condition and treatment of the polio condition.] ”…This explanation may be so brief as to not be very helpful to you in understanding this case, but time does not permit me to go more into detail just now - this aside from the fact that it is very difficult to do via mail. I could and would be glad to go over this with you in person, making suggestions for treatments for you, etc., should the opportunity present itself. I would like to further comment that I do not think that Polio comes from murder, nor do I think that this case would typify the source of karma for all Polio cases.
“I feel that I should urge you to come to Virginia Beach for a few days, for I am sure that it would be worth your while
- both for your peace of mind and the hope that you might again continue your treatments. If you have the wet cell Appliance, it is possible to get re-fills for it. I can talk to you about an outline, and the way the massage should be given. In addition to this we could discuss the spiritual and karmic lessons involved.
“From a strictly physical standpoint I do not think that the massage alone would be sufficient, for it is through the battery that the body is supplied with the necessary elements to rebuild the nerves that were destroyed by the fever. You see it is the nerve ends that are destroyed. I recently learned that the doctors are exploring the possibility that the destruction takes place in the spine. In either case, however, it is necessary to rebuild nerve tissue and this is why the long drawn-out treatment. As a matter of fact, I don’t believe the medical profession thinks that nerve tissue can be rebuilt. Be that as it may, I know what I saw happen in this case - and I BELIEVE! that all things are possible when properly combined.
“Marsden Godfrey who lives in Norfolk would make you another Wet Cell Appliance should you so desire. I say this without asking him, but the fact that you had a reading for yourself would make it quite possible.
“I believe I have answered your definite questions, if not let me know what I have skipped, and I will write again…”
R8. 1/4/56 Letter: ”…First of all I want to wish you the happiest of New years, and to tell you that I firmly believe that the angels who impelled…you to open this correspondence with me - especially at this time - will surely intercede in your behalf, not only in this year but in many others as well.
“Am enclosing all of the material you asked me to return, and with thanks. I have taken notes from most of the writings, and have compared Miss [2778]‘s readings with mine. There are several interesting contrasts that caught my eye.
“About my resuming the treatments - I most definitely want to go back to them, but due to the fact that we are still having cold weather and this house is not built for real heating I will have to wait until warmer weather is here. It wouldn’t be practical to set up the Appliance and then have to break up the routine when cold days make it impossible to be massaged properly, as I’m sure you know that a warm room makes massaging better. The warm weather should be here definitely in a month or six weeks, and then I can get things organized.
“Meanwhile, there are several questions I would love to ask: Do you recall what kind of table or stand you kept the Wet Cell Appliance on while it was used? Please let me explain why I ask this - when I had an Appliance it stood on a low footstool that was supported by metal legs, and on a stone floor. The stool’s legs rusted away (there was no dampness in the room) gradually, and then the CEMENT blew up in sort of bubbles, hard, rocklike bubbles, but it looked like a photo of an eruption right under the stool. I can’t imagine what might have happened if the Appliance had been keep there longer - it could even have gone through the floor into the basement! Now, all the floors in this present house are cement covered by asphalt tile, almost a custom in Florida, and this isn’t my house and I would feel awful beyond words if anything happened to hurt this floor. So will you please tell me what you kept the Appliance on?
“Then, about the electric warming box this girl used - I wasn’t told to do anything like that, but do you imagine I should? We have infra-red lights that could be utilized, but I wonder if I should. I don’t mean a box with infra-red lights, but just warming myself thoroughly with them before taking the treatments. Have you come across any data on that?
“I read the enclosed readings and your final report on the case with terrific interest, and being completely human, my first reaction on her leaving while she was doing so well was, ‘How could she?’ Then, when I realized I had no knowledge of the pressures brought to bear on her from the outside I changed my opinion… I have known many handicapped people who progress just so far physically, and then lose interest even though results are apparent. You would tend to attribute this to a child, but all of those I have known in this connection were rational adults.
“You may wonder why the Extract Sheets I’m asking you to send to me do not include the ones on polio, and the reason is that I have been away at schools for physical rehabilitation where the emphasis is on muscle, tissue, etc., and I found that acquiring information on ‘disease’ did me little if any good. One of my big problems is always being aware of my inherent spirituality, of the fact that ALL is spirit, and when I delve into the physical I kind of swim away from that. I realize, of course, that the treatments given by the Appliance are for the physical, but there I need not understand its workings. I know that its know-how came from a high source and all that is required of me is to be as clear a channel as I can for its blessing to flow through.
“If the sheets on polio deal only with the spiritual side I would be happy to have them, and will send the money for them at once.
“The differences in our readings (your friend’s and mine) are in the charging solutions for the Appliance, the massaging oils, and in the system of massage. In her case the massaging was to be from the ENDS of the limbs IN, and in my case from the CENTER OUT. Also, I can stand and even walk a few yards without the brace, but using only one arm properly made crutch walking impractical for me. At present I use a wheelchair almost constantly as I need help to get up from a chair, and someone to hold on to when walking, and getting around in a chair does give a degree of independence. I know it’s wrong not to use my legs more, but it’s easier on everyone when I’m on my own, and there comes a time when your peace of mind and being by yourself whenever possible is most important.
“I’m sorry this turned out so long. It’s been a good while since I thought of myself so much or in such detail. It’s kind of as though that light was going through me again, though I know that’s just a figure of speech in this case.
“Again, thank you, and best wishes always.
“P.S. Would you please send the name and address of the man I would order the Appliance from? Also, your invitation to come to Virginia Beach is very much appreciated but must at present be just a lovely thought…”
R9. 1/9/56 Publications order included Extracts on Criticism, Worry, Healing Through Attitude, Hemorrhoids, etc.
R10. 1/10/56 HLC’s Letter: ”…Mrs. [IMG] has given me your letter of January 4 and asked me to write you. Enclosed you will find a membership blank and a note from Gladys; also a set of extracts which you requested.
“A wet-cell appliance may be secured from Mr. Marsden Godfrey, 951 Mayo Road, Norfolk 2, Va. I would suggest that you inquire regarding the cost of the Appliance, as these are made up only for research purposes on individual request.
“The difficulty which you describe with the appliance was due to the porous condition of the container which allowed the acid solution to seep through. If a crock is properly glazed on the inside, this will not happen. It can be avoided also by the use of a glass container rather than the porous type crock. Mr. Godfrey is not furnishing the crocks for the solution because of the difficulty in shipping, so in securing one, either get a large glass container or a crock that is carefully glazed on the inside.
“What you call a ‘warming box’ is actually a sweat cabinet, and unless you intend to take sweats, the infra-red light would relax and warm you for the treatments. Infra-red light was suggested from time to time for warming and relaxing purposes. It was generally included under general physiotherapy suggestions.
“We sincerely hope that you do undertake these treatments again and that you will keep us informed on your progress. Do let us know if we can be of further assistance…”
R11. 8/20/56 Letter: ”…I have been meaning to write you for quite a while now, but have been so busy with the various facets of earning a living that the days stream by while I try to fit in all the things that should be done.
“To identify myself - I’m the one you wrote to in connection with treatments by the Wet Cell Appliance for a post-polio condition. You had sent me copies of readings given a friend of yours [2778] and told me of the wonderful progress she had made before she decided to quit. I hope this serves to explain why I’m writing to you.
“Your letters to me were a shot in the arm, doubly so because they literally came out of a clear blue sky. About 13 years
- I think - had elapsed since I last took the treatments, so I had to start from scratch again. I bought an Appliance and supplies from Mr. Godfrey in Norfolk, and on March 16 of this year began taking the treatments - this time with thorough massages daily given by my mother and sister, alternately.
At first I was so sore from the massages, though they were not given hurtingly - I never had aches and pains before, and also never was massaged before - that I nearly held my breath each time. Now that’s reversed - they can’t massage me hard enough. My legs tingle pleasantly each time it’s done, and I flip over on my stomach easily and comfortably.
“As to results - I’m getting straighter, I’m told. My spine seems to be straightening out, whether as a result of the treatments or the massage or both, I can’t say. I believe I can raise my left arm higher than I did. I have gotten up out of the wheel-chair (I use it to facilitate getting around in this big house) from a slightly lower height than usual.
“My reading referred to the condition as Karmic, and said, in a word, that my character would need vast improvement. Well, all I can report there is that I’m trying as I have been for years now, and that hope springs eternal.
“I want to thank you again for all you have done, though I really don’t know the full extent of that yet, do I?…”
R12. 8/24/56 IMG Letter: ”…We should really call each other by our first names, don’t you think?
“How pleased we are to hear from you that definite progress is being made by resuming your treatments given in your physical reading. I would say that you have every reason to be encouraged and delighted with the changes you describe. The tingling sensation in your legs is a real clue to progress, and I am so glad for you.
“Hugh Lynn Cayce’s brother, Edgar Evans, is working on an article for publication which will deal with the Wet Cell Appliance and the Radio Active Appliance. This material will include a description of each Appliance together with reports on the use some have made and the value derived from the Appliance. With your permission (without the use of your name, of course) I should like to make your current report available for this publication. We shall probably use [2778], too.
“Time does not permit me to write many letters, but rest assured that I shall always acknowledge any reports, etc., which you would be good enough to give us from time to time…”
R13. 8/28/56 Letter: ”…Many thanks for your very nice letter and words of encouragement. My treatments have come to be the opening part of every day and more or less routine, so it’s very good to have them spoken of as you did - sort of pushes me up a little higher, too.
“Of course Edgar Evans Cayce may use whatever part of my letter he wishes to, and having it anonymous has my enthusiastic support.
“I must confess I have been racking my brains trying to figure out whether I over-stated anything that I wrote to you about any results I have experienced from the treatments thus far. I know I tried not to create mountain-chains from minute molehills, but your enthusiasm - wonderful though it is - makes me wonder whether I succeeded. I tried to be as honest as possible, that much I’m sure of.
“Again, thank you, and all good wishes always…”
R14. 11/15/56 Letter: ”…I know I should write more often and tell you how my treatments with the Wet Cell Appliance are coming, but since writing is my trade (I should put quotes around that) and I’m at it a good deal of the time, and since you are busy and not in need of just talky letters this lapse really can’t be too bad.
“Of course, the treatments are given faithfully (both verb and adjective) and as to present changes, well - I detect some on the verge, and as soon as they are naturally apparent I certainly will let you know.
“Right now I would love to get some explanation of something odd that happened to the Appliance, and anything you could tell me will be very much appreciated. The other day the charging solution was changed, and the copper pole couldn’t be drawn out through the hole.
“We found that a cap of fresh copper had been added to the bottom of the pole, about 1/8 inch thick, and so the hole was too small. Had to have that cap filed off by someone before I could clean it. This in itself wasn’t important, but I do wonder what made that happen? Also, the piece of zinc in the solution was covered with copper. Did you have a similar experience when you took care of the girl you told me about? Does this have any special significance? When I first used the Appliance many years ago nothing happened to any part of it, but this time I have had all 3 U-wire connections replaced because they just disintegrated. (Mr. Godfrey says it’s a good sign, that it indicates the body is absorbing all that it needs of the gold, silver and atomidine) and now this experience with the copper pole. If it isn’t too much trouble, I would be so glad to find out the reason for this. Many thanks for anything you can tell me…”
R15. 11/21/56 IMG Letter: ”…This morning I talked with Gladys Davis Turner (this is the Gladys Davis who took the readings for years) about your question regarding the Appliance. Neither of us can recall the particular problem which you are having. Such problems would more likely have been called to Mr. Godfrey’s attention, and I would be inclined to go along with his comments on this. However, I am taking the liberty of sending your letter to Edgar Evans Cayce (Hugh Lynn’s brother) and asking him to write you. For the past several months Edgar Evans has been gathering material for an article on the Wet Cell and Radio Active Appliances, and he might be in a better position to understand why this might have happened. Should you care to write him direct, his address is Oceana, Virginia.
“My only experience with the Wet Cell Appliance is the case that I wrote you about, and that was in 1941 - quite a few years ago, eh? Actually I don’t remember anything of this kind happening, but even then it could have - to some degree.
“I feel certain that you are making progress - and I do sincerely appreciate your reports…”
R16. 11/23/56 EEC Explanation to IMG and GDT: ”…There is no mystery connected with your question. I am sure that it happens in every Appliance; probably no one has paid much attention to it before. You can find a complete explanation in any elementary book on chemistry or electricity. Look under electromotive series, or electroplating or even electric cell. Lacking any chemistry or electrical engineering books or physics books you might try a good encyclopedia under same headings. This phenomena occurs everyday in an automobile battery (in which case it is a reversible process) and in any wet cell battery…
“A similar explanation holds for the disintegration of the U-shaped loops in the various solutions used with the appliances. The rate of disintegration is a function of the solution strength and the rate of current flow (this latter is in turn dependent upon the resistance of the body to which it is connected). Now you see why some loops are consumed faster than others. For example, you would expect a loop of wire to be consumed much faster in a solution of gold chloride or silver nitrate than in a solution of spirits of camphor, due to the relative position of lead (if lead is used for the wire loop) silver, and gold in the electromotive series. There would probably be little action in camphor solution, etc. There is a sound basis for all of this, but it would take considerable explanation, and since such explanation is given so explicitly in the references I quoted that it would seem fruitless to repeat it…
”…As another illustration: there is a simple explanation for the picture on your TV set shrinking when the voltage is decreased, but you would find it hard to describe to a person who was not familiar with basis concepts of electronic tubes. It is as if someone asked you to explain in a couple of words or a sentence or two, ‘What is karma, and why is there such a thing’. Can you answer that in two words or sentences? Do you find it difficult to explain to a person who has no concept of reincarnation or life after death? In order to answer such a person’s question wouldn’t you have to give a little background? You might even suggest a couple of books for them to read first before you tried to explain it.
“That was easy; now ask me hard one…”
R17. 11/26/56 IMG Note: ”…I am sending you Edgar Evans Cayce’s answer - via Gladys and I - to your letter of 11/15/56. This is far too complicated for me to understand, but hope you will not feel the same way about it…”
R18. 11/29/56 Letter: ”…Thank you so much for letting me read the enclosed letter. I wish I could honestly say that it made the whole thing crystal-clear to me, but alas, it’s still opaque.
“I do note, however, where Mr. Cayce says a loop of wire in a chloride of gold solution would disintegrate more quickly than a camphor solution, etc., and that reminded me that in my case the wire in the gold solution lasted longest and did not fall apart as completely as did the ones in the silver and atomidine. It took about 7 months to go.
“Also, it’s funny that he should make that remark about explaining karma. I don’t actually recall that it was ever explained to me when I turned to Truth, because it was the natural meaning I knew at once and simply was there.
“Again, thanks…”

B3. 1/28/44 EC’s letter: Check reading postponed to July 15, 1944.
B4. 2/3/44 Questions submitted in addition to those at end of second Physical Rdg.: “(1) What makes the toes of my right foot turn blue? (2) What is the cause and cure of the occasional weakness in my left hand? (3) How can my right hand be turned palm down?”
B5. 3/22/44 Letter: “Dear Miss Davis: Please forgive me if this letter seems to be bold. I need your assistance very much and feel I simply must ask you for it. So again I ask your pardon for bothering you.
“On Oct. 11, 1943, I had a physical reading given by Mr. Cayce and immediately applied for a check reading. I was never notified of the date given for my check reading and when I wrote to Mr. Cayce asking the date, he replied that he had already sent it to me. That letter must have been lost in the mail because I never received it.
“Now I am taking treatments with the Wet Cell Appliance and am thrilled with it. My request of you is this: could you please, please, look up the date of my check reading and send it to me? I constantly watch the mail in the hopes that my check reading is brought, and have been doing this for such a long time…”
