This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of August, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - [33], via Mrs. Roy Davis of Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Time of Reading 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, W. Va.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for the improvement and relief of same.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
Now, the experience of this entity through this present physical plane, as a developing entity through earth’s experiences would be more interesting than the physical conditions, for these are of the nature that, while assistance and relief may be brought, there is little to be done to bring the normal forces of the body, save through untiring energy, trouble, patience, and persistence, for in the cervical and the first dorsal we find there was in times back that condition existing in which a portion of the cartilaginous forces between the vertebrae was crushed. Not sufficient to injure the spinal cord direct, save as to cause that to bring about such conditions as to ward off, or prevent the flow of energy through this portion to enlarge, so that we have this inactivity, inability of the greater portion of the body to be in action, see? inability of locomotion, inability of the general reactions throughout the system, though we do not have the wasting away as would be from wholly diverted, or all pressure removed from the system so as to cause this dwindling, or the body-wasting.
-
To meet the needs of the condition would be to first prepare the body in that way (and manner) that would bring to this portion of the system a renewed activity of cartilaginous rebuilding, by application of properties as would be found in pure apple vinegar and salt (hot) to this portion of the body, see? Then the operation, as to remove and replace, and re-wire (as would be necessary) the portions of the spinal column that are out of alignment and adjustment. Then, with the general care necessary, through the cast, and through the rebuilding, through that of keeping sufficient of those properties through the digestive system that would rebuild bone tissue and bone energy in the system, we would eventually bring (though with a stooped position) the body to where there would be (reaction through) locomotion, see?
-
For the relief, as we would find, for this, would be to massage this portion of the system with those properties as would be found in Balsam of Sulphur, about once each week - the whole cerebrospinal system, see? specifically, apply those properties in a saturated solution of Epsom salts to that portion of the spine where the misery or pain is produced, or WAS produced in times back. This will give a relaxation, see? Do that. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How long would it be necessary for the treatments to be given? (A) To bring any way near a normal condition, treatments should be given for at least three to four weeks, in preparation for operation. The operation would require from fifty to sixty-five minutes. The relaxing and the bringing about of the reaction for the system, to prepare for the rebuilding, would take from three to four weeks. The recuperation from same would require eighteen months to two years.
-
(Q) How often should the salt and vinegar be applied? (A) In preparation for the operation, in applying the salt and vinegar, this should be applied at least once each day. Towards near the time when the general system would be relaxed, and the body prepared for rebuilding, through the diet that would be given for such operation, this would be applied at least around twice to three times each day.
-
(Q) Where can this operation be successfully performed - near this body? (A) Johns Hopkins, Mayo’s, General Hospital, New York, or better still that of the Institute in Pittsburgh, were the correct applications made through that Institute this would be taken care of.
-
(Q) Is there any special time when the operation would be best for the body, according to any astrological conditions? (A) Best time would be when the system was in preparation. The astrological conditions have more to do with the spiritual than the physical being.
-
(Q) Any further suggestions for the help for this body? (A) Keep the whole mentality in that way as to build the best development, for, as has been seen, many of these conditions are merited through those actions of the mental forces and the spiritual forces of the body. Hence that as given in the first. See, this is Nero. We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/25/27 See EC’s letter under 900-295, page 6, apparently referring to Mr. [33]: “We haven’t been able to do any good, from the physical viewpoint, yet the information as was supplied to that man, illiterate as he may be considered by others, has been able to awaken in him something of a spiritual understanding, and though he - that entity - that subconscious self of his becomes aware of the destructive forces meted out to him through destruction he wrought on mankind at another period of his existence in the earth plane…he now finds himself face to face with himself, and with that he has created…”
R2. (A.R.E. Bulletin, September, 1946) READY FOR QUESTIONS -
(Q) (E. K. O., Santa Rosa, Calif.) “Tell me this: Did there ever come, through Edgar Cayce, any unsolicited, unclaimed Life Readings? Just ‘out of the blue’, as it were? It is not beyond the realm of possibility.” (A) No, it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility. In July 1926 Mr. Cayce had this letter from a young man, an ex-coal miner, in West Virginia:
“I was hurt in a car wreck 4 years ago… I am paralyzed from my neck down. I have been operated on 3 times but all the doctors don’t seem to find what’s the matter with me.”
The following month Mr. Cayce gave him a Physical reading, which said in part:
“Now the experience of this entity through this present physical plane, as a developing entity through earth’s experiences, would be more interesting than the physical conditions…
“For many of these conditions are merited through those actions of the mental and the spiritual forces of the body…” (33-1)
At the end of the reading in an undertone so that we could hardly hear it, Mr. Cayce said: “See, this is Nero.”
We did not include these last words in the original reading sent to the young man. Mr. Cayce corresponded with him for a while, trying to stimulate him to go to one of the big hospitals suggested where portions of the spinal column could be removed, replaced and re-wired, so that eventually, even though the body would be stooped, there could be a reaction through locomotion.
But apparently he was looking to Mr. Cayce for a miraculous “cure”, as indicated by a letter in 1928:
“I rec’d a letter telling me you have your hospital fixed ready…if you say you can cure me, I will give you $1,000, and if you don’t you won’t get anything. Isn’t that fair?”
A form letter sent from our office in 1940 came back marked “DECEASED.”
For 18 years he was completely helpless and thus entirely dependent upon charitable Christians for every detail of his care. This experience enabled him to meet and overcome much of the bad karma resulting from his Nero reign.
The past so overshadowed the present that a portion of his Life Reading was volunteered, in his physical reading.
Several similar instances are recorded in our files.
R3. 7/19/44 See 5366-1 indicating that Mrs. [5366] had been Nero’s companion in Rome.
