This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of November, 1943, in accordance with request made by the father - […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by article in Coronet.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3375].

3. As we find, there are conditions that need correction - if this body would develop to near normal activities.

4. These conditions are the result of an accident at the period of birth; not negligence, not premeditated - rather an accident.

5. Thus there may be much more accomplished in the way of corrections than if these were from other causes or sources.

6. The body in the present is still in the developing period, as to structural portions and bone structures.

7. The injury was to the cranium centers, or the pressures were produced to portions of the brain. Then there are resultant effects produced in the reflexes.

8. Then these, as we find, should have rather consistent and persistent attention during the periods of the growth of the body. For if these are not in some directed, these may become static - or leave conditions such that there may not be full control of all reflexes of the body.

9. The reflexes to the mental body are not injured. Those to the sensory system are partially affected; as are the reflexes to the locomotories in portions of the body.

10. These conditions, then, should be handled by a good orthopedic OSTEOPATH; one in sympathy with the applications that may be supplied through suggestion as well as through the information here; who may aid a great deal not only in bringing sooner corrections but in the manner in which the recovery will be made by the body, and the speed with which it will be accomplished.

11. As corrections are thus made in the upper cervicals, extending even to the upper dorsal areas and those areas about the right base of the brain, and to the left side of the frontal bone of the brain, it will aid materially. These should not be given too often, but there should be regular intervals of attending to these for several days in succession. During such periods use not merely the corrective measures for the structural portions, but do so with oils - that are partially the anointing oils, the sacred oils - in this combination; adding these in the order named:

Olive Oil…2 ounces, Tincture of Myrrh (heating the Oil to add the Myrrh)…2 ounces.

12. Beat thoroughly, then add:

Calamus Oil…2 minims, Oil of Lavender…1, 2, 3, 4, 5 drops.

13. These if combined in their correct proportions will aid in alleviating any strain in the muscle and tendon forces, and also aid at the base of the brain, by assisting the nerves to be normal in their reflexes - internally as well as externally - and thus gaining control of the locomotory centers (and these will come first in upper portion of body), and the reflexes to the auditory centers; as speech, hearing, vision. For, all are partially hindered in the present - some more than others.

14. The oil massages should be along the upper portion of the spine, base of the brain, and the frontal portion on left side especially. These should be given only when the adjustments osteopathically (or massages, not so much adjustments) are made; about three days in succession, at those periods when the moon changes - or the new moon, see? That is when the osteopath should give these massages, you see, about once a month for three days straight running - and it should come near the change of the moon.

15. Do these, and we will find bettered conditions for this body.

17. (Q) The osteopath should use the oils in giving the treatments? (A) He should use the oils in giving the treatments.

18. (Q) Would you recommend an osteopath who could and would give these treatments as suggested? (A) Yes, you have those that are in sympathy with the work there. Use those.

Do that, and we will find there will in six to eight months be the decided change for the improvement.

With reference to our conference of recent date, I wish to advise that the osteopath you recommended, Dr. Johnson, is no longer in practice in the City of Detroit. I understand that he has left for Missouri. The Mrs. Krause you recommended that I get in touch with will not be in the City for at least a month, so that I am at a loss as to what to do. Kindly advise if you have any other Osteopaths that you might recommend. [GD’s note: A. C. Johnson? I think he meant Dr. Thompson, John R.]

I am also enclosing a membership application for a friend of mine. I trust that you will give this your consideration.

Dear Mr. […]

Thanks for yours of the sixth, and the application for Miss [3375]. Sorry to know that Dr. Thompson nor Dr. Johnson aren’t in Detroit at this time. Possibly Dr. King [Edw. Douglass King] at Book Cadillac, (He knows something of the work) may be able to handle it just as it should be. Let us know about this. Be sure whoever you see will comply with the suggestions given in the reading. If they won’t then go to someone else. I am sure there are some osteopaths there who are not adverse to this, for we have given enough evidence to the osteopathic profession. We can refer them to Dr. Still of Still-Hildreth, Macon, Mo., Dr. Geo. Coulter, N.Y., Dr. L. A. Lydic, Dayton, Ohio, or Dr. Frank Jones, Macon, Ga. I am sure any of these are high in the profession, enough at least to be paid attention to.

I do hope you will have no trouble in getting the application of the suggestions made.

With reference to the reading given on the 27th day of November, A.D. 1943, I wish to advise that I am attempting to follow carefully your suggestions. At present I have obtained the services of Dr. John P. Wood, 206 Wabeek Building, Birmingham, Michigan. Dr. Wood is attempting to follow your directions very carefully, as he is apparently very much impressed with your book, however, we have been unable to obtain calamus oil as suggested in the reading. I have searched the entire city, but to no avail. I would appreciate a suggestion as to where I can obtain said oil.

I would also appreciate your writing to Dr. Wood, possibly explaining more in detail any further recommendations you may wish to give.

I regret to advise that I have been unable to obtain the calamus oil, which I suppose is a necessary ingredient together with the other oils mentioned in your reading of November 27, 1943. Kindly advise if you can suggest a substitute oil or where I can obtain same, as I have tried every possible source. To date, we have not used any of the oils suggested due to the fact that we lack the one essential oil, and I was wondering whether her progress was not being impeded accordingly.

I wish you would give this matter your urgent attention and advise accordingly.

In regard to the calamus oil, I would suggest that you try to get it from T. R. Wirsing, 1001 Third St., S.W., Roanoke, Virginia or Eimer & Amend, 18th Street and third Avenue, New York City.

If you are unable to get this very shortly from either of these places, please let us know and we will ask in another reading just what can be used as a substitute.

With reference to your recent letter re my daughter, [3375], I wish to advise that the sources mentioned have been attempted some time ago, but to no avail. I do not know how important this calamus oil may be, but nevertheless I am unable to obtain it. I would appreciate if possibly through a reading you might reveal some druggists or chemists who may have some in stock.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Regret to advise that I have been unable to follow your instructions, inasmuch as I still have been unable to obtain the calmus oil. I have recently received a communication from Mr. Wirsing, who advises that he still is unable to obtain same.

I note in checking the file, that I visited you at your home on November 27 of ‘43, but since that date I have not been able to do as suggested in reading, due to the above facts. Inasmuch as you stressed the importance of the ingredients, I feel at a loss as to what steps to take.

1. What is the calamus (or cadmus, as pronounced in the reading) oil? Where may it be obtained?
2. Is it a solution of cadmium salts? If so, advise how it should be prepared to be used in the combination of other oils for the rub?

[Note by GD: I find this definition under the word cadmium: calamine, a bluish white metal resembling zinc in its general properties. In its physiological action it is escharotic and astringent; internally, in large doses, it produces emesia and violent gastritis. Calmium iodide, used as an ointment, 1 to 8 of lard - calmium salicylate, white needles, soluble in water and alcohol - is said to be a more antiseptic activity than other cadmium salts - cadmium sulphate, an astringent in gonorrhea and in corneal opacities; used as a lotion in strength of 1/2 gr. or 4 to 1 ozs. of water, or as an ointment in 1:40 of fresh lard.]

Dear Mr. Cayce

I have just finished reading for 12th time an article in “Coronet” relative to your psychic power and the more I read the more I believed that you are the man who can save my little daughter [3375], aged almost three yrs., possibly untold misery.

I will try and make my story very brief, when [3375] was born she suffered a brain injury in the course of the delivery which developed into a spastic condition and also affected her speech so that today she can neither talk or run as other children of her age and believe me Sir, it is most heart breaking. She is at present taking orthopedic treatments but unfortunately I see little improvement and the various specialists give me very little encouragement. Your story however gives me renewed hope and I pray you will be kind enough to give this your attention. I do not know what your fees are, but believe me, I would sell my very soul for her recovery to normalcy.

B2. 11/27/43 Report from father orally - injury at birth to head due to bad delivery…resulting in a spastic condition…left side impeded to a great degree…has no speech intelligible as yet…three years old…orthopedic physicians, surgical and brain…these men feel it is impossible to determine until she is about 8 years old, and it is possible that her mind may not develop until then…can’t walk normally, for at the least touch she falls.
