This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of February, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [341], Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. [341], Mr. [487] and wife, and Mr. [641].]

Time of Reading 11:30 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Va.

  1. GC: You will have before you the entity [341], present in this room, together with his ideals and purposes, activities, associations, and responsibilities. At this time he seeks advice and guidance in planning his course of action for the duration of the period of national emergency. You will answer the questions he has prepared, as I ask them:

  2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the entity, the enquiring mind, [341], present in this room; this we have had before.

  3. Ready for questions.

  4. (Q) In line with advice given in previous readings I am trying to work out a recreation program for … and at the same time carry on needed Association work. Am I reasonably justified in believing that this should be continued as long as possible and that if the government recreation grant is made, it will be considered essential war activities? (A) This we find as correct. As we find, however, there are questions arising as to whether the government would at this time grant such requests. However, this has received approval, but is being held up in the present. If it is granted in time, it will be considered as essential government work. However, as we find, there are possibilities that, not only with the Local Board but with the State Board, if that portion of the work that is already being done is fully understood, this will be held as essential until there IS the granting from government for other activities. This depends altogether, then, upon time - and a great deal of politics also is in the situations.

  5. (Q) Is there anything I can do to expedite the granting of this recreation money? (A) Merely those that are in authority may be stimulated by the requests from those in authority in the areas; that is, the personnel that have to do with this particular area could, and would, request that this be given consideration as early as practical.

  6. (Q) In the event the government grant does not materialize it seems possible that my draft board will again consider my induction under the new laws. Which of the following courses of action would be advisable for me: a. Change to essential war work. b. Endeavor to secure a commission in the navy. c. Await induction. (A) Await induction.

  7. (Q) If inducted, what branch of service should I apply for? (A) Recreational! Isn’t that the aim and the activity of the body through its associations, through its abilities? And the equipping of self, as it has been, will have consideration.

  8. (Q) Should that be in the army? (A) As the new rulings, this may be in any department those in charge see fit.

  9. (Q) If it is possible to continue both recreation locally and Association work, comment on the following: Any suggestions regarding activities to publicize the book THERE IS A RIVER? [See 254-113.] (A) Most of these as will be necessary have been and are being set in motion. Only work those plans that have been and are being considered. Whether the body is capable of carrying same through, owing to circumstance, have such done by those in the position to carry on.

  10. (Q) Would it be wise to undertake a trip to various cities to discuss book, lecture, etc? (A) This would come later, not in the immediate.

  11. (Q) Publication Program: Bulletins, Research Papers, Work on individual research problems; subscription for research readings. (A) As has been indicated heretofore, there should be some consistent activity as related to Bulletins and the keeping regularly in touch with members of the Association.

As to the subscriptions for research readings, remember those principles that have been indicated respecting same; that the laws of spiritual influences and forces are such that these need a great deal of careful consideration, else would bring to self more entanglements or hardships than beneficial results. For, to know to do good and not do it, is sin - as we have indicated.

  1. (Q) Is there anything I can do in order to better acquaint the State Board and Local Board with the situations and conditions? (A) As indicated, the personnel that the activities would assist should - if this is desirable - make those in authority acquainted with the needs and the means and the ends to be gained by the activity of the entity.

  2. (Q) Any other suggestions that would be of help at this time? (A) Keep the principles, the ideals first and foremost in the dealings with all phases of activities as arise.

  3. We are through for the present.
