This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 28th day of February, 1925, in accordance with request made by self - [341].

Born March 16, 1907, in Bowling Green, Ky. Time of Reading 11:45 A. M. Dayton Time. …, Ohio.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the Universe, and the Universal Forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life. Also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity and those relations to Universe, and Universal Forces, as have been manifested in the earth’s plane and the relations to the urge and abilities of entity in the present earth’s plane.

3. These - we see we have had portions of these here before.

4. Now, as to the relation to Universal Forces, Universe and the dwelling in the earth’s plane, we see in this entity that manifestation of a purpose and that as set from the beginning of the sojourn in earth’s plane, and the manifestations of those laws of Universal Forces as may be manifest through these conditions and relations as may be seen in this entity.

5. As we see, many conditions as have been given have been in the life in present, and the relations to earthly existences show the purpose, the conditions, the elements in Universal Forces, as may be manifest in an entity and exhibited throughout the ages of the earth’s development.

6. In the present earth’s plane we find the entity takes its position from those influences of Mars, Jupiter, Venus and Uranus, with some indwelling of Neptune’s forces, then having received the influence not only of the earthly indwelling but as Universal, so far as earth’s spheres are concerned.

7. Then we find these urges, then, in the elements of the present entity, though the body (physical) has reached that development in mental in earth plane wherein this may be controlled through the earthly relations and of earthly desires, and the correlation of these may only be given with the urge as would be weighed, measured, by other experiences in the earth’s plane. Well, then, that the entity understand much of each sojourn in earth’s plane, that this may be weighed with the present development that lies within the sphere of the mental forces of the entity.

8. One then given with much of the influences of Mars in the present plane and should be wary of those elements, realizing that the same urge is not in the individual, the individual not having chosen the same urge as in some of the other experiences in earth’s plane, for with the influence of Mars is that of wrath, fire, firearms, powders, explosions and riots. These the body must be wary of, should it desire to reach the mental, the development, the scope of experiences in present earth’s plane.

9. Then, we have the urge of the love, modified with the ennobling influences in the entity, and the accentuation of each in that of Uranian forces, yet ever dominated with that in Neptune of the entity attempting to obtain all knowledge and information, using rather for self’s development, self’s aggrandizement in many instances. Be not overcome then with the madness in Mars to bring detrimental to self, for this would be a weakness in flesh.

10. In others we find the ennobling influences in Jupiter attracting then about the entity those of high minded, high position, high effects, high mental forces, high places in social affairs, high places in business. Use these rather than abuse same, remembering these show how the use of the talents that have been acquired in development in earth’s plane, ever keeping the purpose as is first set in the entity.

11. Again we find those influences of the indwelling of the forces as experienced in earth’s plane of the use of the love forces, and these again may be abused. These we will see from experiences, as has been found, in earth’s plane.

12. The elements or abilities then of the entity lie in those spheres of controlling those which are attracted to the entity in the present plane.

13. In the appearances then we find much of the development and purpose.

14. As we find in the one before this, in the time when the second [of the?] Edwards was on the throne in England. [Edward “the Elder” 2nd son of Alfred the Great? See 341-1.] Then in the monastery the entity chose that of the monk, coming then from the northern lands in Norway (now known) and taking the vows in the church, there becoming the recluse, yet giving that love as was brought in earth’s plane from entity’s sojourn in Venus, and the name Ericson then, [Olaf Ericson?] and the letters, papers, yet may be found in the sixth vault in the abbey of the records of the kings. In this entity then we find much given to the peoples of the life chosen by the entity then, to give the account, the soul’s development, the soul’s communion with the indwelling spirits in prison in human bodies, lacking understanding and the vision of the power from within; the greater letter written then being that of Ellaviola [?] [Elea? Ely?]. In the present personality we find this exhibited in the earth’s plane: The ability to concentrate and give the inmost recesses of acquired knowledge in such a manner as understandable to other individuals. Noble calling!

15. In the one before this we find in the defense of the Holy War as is brought from the peaceable to the peoples in the foreign land, when those people under their leader defended the Cross in the Moslem rule then beginning, and the entity then the standard-bearer, and in the name of Edgar the Third. [Edgar III (1050-1130) - born in Hungary?] [Went to Crusade 1099?] [See 341-17 on 12/10/25 saying that [341] was a Bavarian prince.] In this we find the entity then had the opportunity of weighing the various phases of the study of approach to the kingdom, and the kingdom the kingdom of God. Hence in the present we find the great desire to study, understand, the Moslem rule, the Moslem thought, the Moslem principles as weighed with the religion of the entity as was being taught, manifested, and the desire to seek out. The entity then we find wounded by the battle-ax, and the care as given in the tents of the unbelievers brought this chance of study of the difference kept in the heart. Hence the inner calling of that land and the innate desire to seek out, and many places in Palestine now would be as of old grounds to the entity. These are so latent and submerged, yet would be awakened through study.

16. In the one before this we find in this same land wherein the entity [then had] now has lost its earthly existence. Then in the fisherman on the Sea of Galilee, and became the follower of the Nazarene, the Gift to the World, and the entity sought this out and brought many to the sound of the Living Words as were given to the peoples round about, and the entity was one of those who studied the lessons and had reached that point where the soul knew the awakening and the purpose for which it had set itself in earth’s plane. The name then was Andrew. In the personalities exhibited in the individuality of the entity in the present plane, the desire to ever hold as is [that which is] only acceptable of the Prince of Peace, and the ability of the entity to give much knowledge to others [only?] save through such lessons and illustrations as given by the Master.

17. In the one before this we find in the land of now Egyptian. Then in the second pharaoh [6/2/25 See 341-9 indicating that this particular period in Egypt was eleven thousand and sixteen (11,016) B.C.], or the ruler of that land [Ra Ta period], and the laws and the religions then just being established. The entity then assisted in giving much to these peoples. The foundation of the truth of the relations of earthly individuals with the High God of Heavens. The entity then in the name as called Araaraart. In this entity we find that the first temples of sacrifice were builded, and the offerings of blood were first made, and the monuments of the things afterward becoming a stumbling block, yet in the entity’s day the means of representing to the peoples the approach to the indwelling of that not made with hands. The entity, then, in the upper chamber of the northeast corner of the first pyramid builded, there placed by the grandson, the king who afterward ascended to the throne in Egypt - Azorut. In the individuality and the personality exhibited from same in present plane, we find the desire of the study of all pertaining to laws and of reason of sacrifice, of the difference between sacrifice and mercy, and the innate force or urge to study this land and peoples.

18. In the one before this we find in the Beginning, when the earth in its form became a place, and afterward able to be an abode for the creature called man, and the entity chose that through this manner it, that entity, that part of the whole, would through these creatures of the High Heavenly make manifest Heaven and Heaven’s forces through those elements.

19. Then, in the present plane, let this entity gain these forces: Through all the sojourns the entity has manifested in the manner then under the highest development in mental forces the expressions to the Creator. Then in the present, keep that developing, knowing when the inmost soul gives of self to such development the entity may go on to those other fields, when chosen in that spiritual plane only.

20. Then, to apply those abilities, latent in the present plane, through the mental forces give that knowledge as has been acquired, correlating all with man’s moral, spiritual, development to the Will of the Creator, the law of the love of Creator for the created.

21. Then in letters, in associations, in any manner give these messages to the masses, for in giving this the entity lends to the Lord. Then in that of author, of lecturer, of explorer, of such manner may the entity give most in this life on earth to self and others, keeping away from the madness that would destroy that built.

O’er all the snow enshrouded world The night began to spread A blanket of a grayish hue which seemed but for the dead.

The grim, gray walls and towns stood As captors of those men. Those souls were bound by memories’ chains Within that wretched pen.

Upon the wall in ceaseless steps A guard paced to and fro While here and there a spotlight shone, A devil’s eye aglow.

A comrade on that night did try To slip beyond the wall, But on him fell that cursed eye That ever watched us all.

The dreaded sound of a shot rang out And broke the stillness clear. Then on the whiteness of the snow There spread a bright red smear.

R12. 5/16/27 “As things are drawing to a close here I have begun to check up and see where I stand. In some ways I am pleased, in others I am disappointed both in myself and conditions. However, it would be a sad state of affairs if everything had come out perfectly and there was nothing to look forward to. There have been some very pleasant times here, some fine fellows and some perplexing ones. In all, the reading [294-81, Par. 5-A] was about right. Some of the fellows here have had a hard time getting along with me and I with them. There have been times when I can almost feel the old tendency to withdraw from it all, shut myself away and just think - the monastery idea again. The fellows haven’t been able to understand that attitude and it has been a rather hard one to apply with so many around so much. I haven’t made many real friends, therefore; no enemies but just acquaintances. I’ll see some of them again, will remember them but never very close. They will all forget me but never some of the ideas I have brought out. I rather count time lost if I haven’t made friends - that is one failure.”

Without the quiet few minutes early in the morning and late at night, it would be hard to keep any semblance of balance.” [GD’s note: Both parents died early in ‘45, while he was overseas.]

R73. 4/22/45 “We are expecting to move again soon. Already we are deep in Germany, so can’t go much further. Take a look at my reading, Crusade period [341-17]. Interesting in light of present developments. This should certainly get wars out of my system.”

R75. 10/9/45 Letter from France: “The date on this makes me sick. I have transferred into the 66th Div. It is supposed to sail sometime this month, but the rumors get worse rather than better… The procedure of the past week has been just like the first week in the army - interviews, inspections, formations, details, clothing checks, etc… Three of us just returned from a trip to Lourdes. That was a pleasant break… I have been fortunate in seeing a good bit of France… My company has broken up…this new address will probably change again.”

R77. 5/11/47 We heard that he and his wife were very active in church work, he having recently been made a deacon and his wife leader of a churchwomen’s group.

He was most helpful, as he read and translated for us from books in seven different languages. Evidently Edgar Cayce knew a lot about Mt. Carmel as well as other things.”

Believe me, it is even more exciting to find out how right he could be about places and conditions thousands of miles away - Essenes and Carmelites, for example.”

R96. 2/4/34 NATAL CHART INTERPRETATION OF [341]:

Horoscope by Laurie Pratt Box 187, Atlanta, Ga.

Born: March 16, 1907, Saturday Bowling Green, Ky. 3:15 P.M. Central Standard Time. [LMT]

A chart of very mixed influences, very dual. Leo rising and and the Moon in Aries make for leadership, pride, courage, initiative, self-confidence, mastery. Sun and Mercury in Pisces are quite different in nature and indicate practically the opposite tendencies, so that there is often a struggle going on within the native to overcome timidity, fear, lack of confidence, worry and indecision. The pressure of too much responsibility should not be put upon the native; there is a very impractical streak in the nature. He should be content to work under others and not to strike out entirely on his own, although there will be times when he will be so inclined. There is restlessness under authority; an impatient, impulsive nature, with pioneering and ambitious tendencies, but he will not succeed at the head of an enterprise or where the chief responsibility lies with him. At the same time, there is good executive ability shown, and a capacity for organization and leadership, and these qualities could be exercised to good advantage in some large organization or corporation.

A business life is not favored, and what gain is shown in the chart will come from association with unusual and spiritual persons and movements. In general, the best luck in life will come thru the help or favor of influential friends; these will be people of prominence, position, wealth and at the same time of benevolent nature and spiritual attainment. The great fixed star Regulus rises close to the ascending degree of Leo and this will attract very exalted and eminent people into the native’s life and he will benefit through their contact and interest. Generally speaking, those born from about August 15 to 22 of any year (who will thus have Sun conjunct Regulus) will be beneficial to the native. Other Regulus people, those who have Regulus prominent in their charts, even though not born at this time in August, will also be beneficial but it is not possible here to point out the birthdates of these others. Suffice to say, that native will benefit thru contacts with outstanding personalities and those with great power, and should not hesitate to approach such people when opportunity offers.

Travel abroad will be very favorable for this native and such a move should be contemplated and put into execution whenever opportunity offers. There he will arouse public interest in his work, and will meet eminent people, perhaps women particularly. He will have an interesting love affair abroad but this will not culminate in marriage. He will marry suddenly, and an older women is by all means to be chosen. Divorce is not shown, but there is some possibility he may lose his wife by death.

Love affairs are under the most violent and hectic rays imaginable; sudden attractions and equally sudden repulsions and estrangements. Love letters will cause trouble; there will also be differences in religious and philosophic outlook between the native and those on whom he will fix his affection and this will cause separation and break-up. Fiancee may die or break off the engagement suddenly. Native has much ardor, energy and impulse where love affairs are concerned and these matters will loom large in his life, but no luck is shown and all affairs of the heart are apt to have a precipitate ending or terminate on a tragic note.

The affections are very fixed with Venus in Aquarius; there is great love for friends and a deep love for humanity as a whole. This compensates to some extent for the lack of harmony in his personal love affairs, and his love nature is really comprehensive rather than particularized. Amiable relations are shown with brother and cousins and neighbors; he may wish at some time to marry a cousin or neighbor. Cooperative work with brother may eventuate at some time in life.

Death, affairs of the dead, and occultism, is short, affairs of the 8th house, loom large in the life of this native. He will be brought into direct contact many times with such things. Much sorrow will come to him through deaths. He should by no means ever handle public money, partner’s (business or matrimonial) money; in short, other people’s money. Keep away from such responsibility; it bodes no good for him and such responsibility will be sure to come his way so forewarned is forearmed.

His own death will take place in a hospital or similar place of confinement, after an illness, i.e., no violent death is shown. Yet the life is not free from accident and there will be narrow escapes from death. There may be accidents to the thighs. The feet will give trouble. Good and loving nursing is shown in case of illness, and sickness will be beneficial inasmuch as he will feel better after an illness than he did before he had it. He will make friends during illness, get along well with inferiors, servants, co-workers. No secret enemies are shown in this chart. There is a lack of mental continuity, fixedness, concentration, the mind is too impressionable, impulsive, hasty, opinions are arrived at without due judgement. Impractical and at the same time, overconfident, yet easily depressed and upset, wavering, diffuse, easily psychologized. Stern discipline of the mind is here needed, careful weighing of facts before judgement. Only a very spiritual attitude of mind can outweigh these heavy afflictions to Mercury, and Mercury in Pisces fortunately can be spiritual, taking refuge in another world when this one proves unkind.

There is a great desire for self-expression; the creative instinct is very active. Originality and spiritual depth are shown; mediumistic tendencies are shown yet it would be unwise to cultivate them or to travel along the path of his father, whose Pisces planets are well-aspected as this native’s Pisces planets are afflicted.
