GC: You will have before you members of the Glad Helpers, present in this room, who seek guidance, advice and counsel, in continuing their service in the name of the Master. You will answer the questions which they submit, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the members as gathered here, and their work in the name of the Master.
-
Let each keep in self that necessity of the sincerity of purpose, that may bring the healing to the varied ones as they seek through this as a channel for the understanding. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Will the Forces please give the Glad Helpers four affirmations for patients to be used by them for meditation? First: (A) MAY THERE NOW BE THAT CONSCIOUSNESS OF HIS PRESENCE WHICH WILL BRING THAT NECESSARY FOR THE AWAKENING OF THE HEALING IN MY BODY.
The next,
MAY THE ABUNDANCE OF THE CHRIST LOVE FILL MY MIND, SOUL AND BODY WITH THE LOVE THAT BRINGS HEALING IN EVERY MANNER.
The next,
BE THOU MERCIFUL, O FATHER, IN THE HOURS OF NEED FOR MY BODY, MY MIND, MY SOUL. HEAL THOU MY EVERY WEAKNESS THROUGH THE CHRIST THAT MAKES ME ALIVE IN THEE.
The next,
BRING ME INTO THY PRESENCE, O FATHER, IN SUCH MEASURES AS TO BRING THOSE REALIZATIONS OF THY LOVE LIGHTING MY LIFE IN ITS EVERY ATOM, SUPPLYING THAT NEEDED FOR MAKING MY LIFE ONE WITH THEE IN HIM, OUR ELDER BROTHER, THAT GAVE THAT WE MIGHT APPROACH THEE THE NEARER.
-
(Q) May we be given a prayer of joyousness and praise at this time? (A) COME! LET MY HEART BE LIFTED IN PRAISE AND ADORATION OF THE WONDROUS LOVE THAT THE FATHER SHEDS UPON THE CHILDREN OF MEN. COME, LET ALL BE GLAD IN THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT ARE GIVEN TO SERVE IN HIS NAME DAY BY DAY. COME, LET US BE JOYOUS IN THE TRUTH THAT, “INASMUCH AS YE DID IT UNTO THE LEAST OF THESE MY LITTLE ONES, YE DID IT UNTO ME.” LET THE LOVE OF THE SON BE MAGNIFIED IN OUR LIVES THAT OTHERS MAY KNOW THAT THE JOYOUSNESS OF SERVICE BRINGS PEACE AND HARMONY TO OUR HEARTS AS WE SERVE. COME! GIVE THANKS UNTO HIM, FOR WE WOULD MAKE OUR OWN LIVES, OUR OWN BODIES, A DWELLING PLACE OF THE LOVE THAT THE FATHER WOULD MANIFEST UNTO HIS CHILDREN. COME, GIVE PLACE TO HIS HOLY NAME, THAT HERE MAY COME JOYOUSNESS IN THE HEARTS OF MEN AT THE COMING OF THE CHRIST INTO THE LIVES AND THE EXPERIENCES OF MANY.
-
(Q) Is there any advice to us concerning those we are holding in meditation? (A) Not as ones that would pry into the affairs of individuals, rather as that necessary element in the experience of others in seeking, in unburdening the conditions in their experience, know more of those things that hinder and that make those that seek afraid; for in the troubled heart comes those experiences that make for doubts and fears. Consider that even at the beck and call of the Master, and even in His presence, Peter began to sink. So we, in the weakness of the flesh, in the face of doubt and fear, often begin to sink and lose our way. So, when there is held by a group as a whole those STRENGTHENING influences that may make others know that, “Yea, a prayer is said,” there is seeking - seeking - that the one faltering may be made strong in His might, His power. Remember, all, how thin is the veil between the sublime and the ridiculous. Make not thine self absurd or ridiculous in thine own eye, in thine neighbor’s eye. Keep in the way that makes for LIFE - everlasting.
-
(Q) We would appreciate a Christmas message to be sent to those we are aiding. (A) COME! LET US MAKE A JOYOUS NOISE UNTO THE LORD, THE ROCK OF OUR SALVATION: WHO IN TIMES PAST AND IN THE PRESENT MAKES KNOWN THE JOYOUS MESSAGE UNTO THE SONS OF MEN: FOR THERE IS ALIVE THIS DAY THE CHRIST SPIRIT THAT CAME AS UPON THE WINGS OF THE ANGELS, THAT MADE KNOWN THE GLAD TIDINGS UNTO THE MEN IN THAT FAR LAND. HE IS NOT FAR AWAY TODAY! BUT IN “THINE OWN HEART” MAY WE HEAR THAT VOICE COME TO US AND SAY, “PEACE - BE STILL! IT IS I, FEAR NOT: FOR I, THY SAVIOUR, AM WITH THEE THIS DAY.”
-
(Q) Please expand on the different circular vibrations which are experienced during meditation: 1. When felt in the lower part of body.
(A) As this may be expanded upon both from the metaphysical viewpoint and from the purely scientific also, well that those who experience these do not confuse themselves in the interpreting of that each may experience. Each must remember that the vibrations which are emanations of the Life from WITHIN are a material expression of a spiritual influence, or of a FORCE that may EMANATE from Life itself.
Now, consider, we are viewing both of these in the light of that which has just been given.
When an emanation or a vibration arises, it may only act upon centers within the human body that are sensitive to those vibrations WITHIN the body; else one may not become aware of such vibrations being present, or they may not become apparent; hence have within themselves passed from being an influence that is not of a nature other than that which produced same.
When these ARE interpreted properly, they become that which raises for each individual the ability to become aware of the influences from without and from within. These, SPIRITUALIZED, are the emanations that may be sent out as thought waves, as a force in the activity of universal or cosmic influence, and thus have their effect upon those to whom by suggestive force they are directed toward.
In the VARIED motions, as we understand, these arise; (as all things spiral WOULD), for one that WOULD become aware of such an emanation, such a vibration, such a force being active within themselves.
DO NOT use those vibrations to self’s undoing, by the attempts to make for SELF other than a CHANNEL for aid to another.
-
(Q) When felt in the lower part of the body. (A) All the same. We begin from one. We have passed on up to the head now!
-
(Q) [341]: Please explain the sensations during meditation of vibration running up through the body and ending in a sort of fullness in the head. (A) The various portions, as given, represent the activities that are being set, either when considered from the purely scientific or from the metaphysical standpoint, as an active force emanating from the Life itself within. Then, these become all-embracing; hence the better understanding should be gained, whether used to disseminate and bring healing or for the raising of the forces in self. When one is able to so raise within themselves such vibrations, as to pass through the whole course of the attributes of physical attunements, to the disseminating force or center, or the Eye, then the body of that individual becomes a magnet that may (if properly used) bring healing to others with the laying on of hands. This is the manner in which such a healing becomes effective BY the laying on of hands.
-
(Q) Should one allow unconsciousness to follow? (A) Unconsciousness is a physical-natural consequence, unless there is the radiation passed off into some other force for raising same, or aiding same.
-
(Q) How can one direct the vibration culminating in the head to the one they would aid? (A) By THOUGHT. (Now we are speaking of a purely mechanical, metaphysical-spiritual activity that would take place.) One has directed their thought to an individual who is to RECEIVE the blessing of that power or force raised. They raise within themselves that which may be sent out as a power, and it passes to those that would be in attune or accord. Were they present a much greater force may be felt, to be sure; less is the strain upon the physical body.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 12/14/32 GD’s memo: EC felt better; he looked better. He told the Group about his experience the other night, where he was patted on the hand (at 3 o’clock a.m., while sitting in his chair in the living room, as he couldn’t sleep) and told “Now, go to bed” and was so sleepy he could hardly get upstairs, and all pain gone.

“May there now be that consciousness of His Presence which will bring that necessary for the awakening of the healing in my body.” - Healing Affirmation. [281-14]
The Glad Helpers is the healing circle of the Norfolk Study Group No. 1 which, through daily cooperative meditation, endeavors to aid the larger group in bringing individual physical, mental and spiritual assistance to those seeking. The formation of this group took place on October 5th, 1931, as a branch of the Study Group proper. These individuals feel they are fitted to be channels for the spiritual force manifesting in this manner and strive continually to better fit themselves for this phase of the work. Many encouraging reports and letters have been received, and each feel their efforts have been far-reaching in effect.
Three periods of meditation are kept daily by the Glad Helpers, and those seeking aid are asked to hold at least one of these periods. All affirmations used by the group are obtained through readings and the group’s work is guided at all times by counsel from these sources. Anyone having faith in the Divine Force within and without who feels the need of such a service as this group may render is invited to communicate with: MISS EDITH MILDRED EDMONDS, 611 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., NORFOLK, VA.
