This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of March, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3421], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions as I ask them:

2. EC: [after repeating suggestion in an undertone] Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.

3. As we find, there are improvements; though there are periods when the body allows itself to slip back into that consciousness to be controlled by the formation of that which is as a positive possession - but a creation of the own mental and physical self.

4. The corrections that have been made are very good. They need to be kept up, especially closing those segments in the areas of the coccyx and through the sacral and lumbar.

5. Do begin the use of the Radio-Active Appliance, either twice each day for 40 minutes, or once each day for one hour just before retiring. If the body goes to sleep with the Appliance attached, have someone else disconnect it and not arouse the body after it has been used for one hour. If allowed to remain attached too long, it may bring disturbance. Do keep the plates very clean, polishing them with the emery paper before and after attaching to the body. Do attach the same plate first each time. It makes a difference in the cycle set up in the applicator.

6. Do these and be persistent. Do use the period when the Appliance is being used as the period for prayer and meditation. Let the prayer be, though in the entity’s own words:

GOD, THE FATHER, MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH! IN THY LOVE, IN THY MERCY, BE THOU WITH ME JUST NOW; THAT THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH AS MANIFESTED IN JESUS THE CHRIST MAY ABIDE IN AND THROUGH ME; THAT THERE MAY BE THE HEALING NECESSARY FOR ME (calling thine own name, personally) TO BE THE BETTER CHANNEL FOR THE MAGNIFYING OF THY LOVE IN THE EARTH.

R1. 3/29/44 Letter: “My check reading came last week, and I am deeply grateful for the simple explanation given of my trouble. I don’t understand it, but I can see the possibility of having built up an elemental [creature] in lives past that must now be freed. I do see a change for the better, and I think no one can know what it means to me. I am trying to follow all the instructions carefully, and feel confident of a continued improvement. I have used the Radio-Active machine about a week, but as yet see no change. The extra hour of prayer and meditation is wonderful. I also want to tell you what an inspiration the last Bulletin was to me, and also the very beautiful prayer in my reading - to be healed ‘to become a better channel for the magnifying of His love’. I have always had that in mind, but somehow through you it has become a living truth. Thank you…”

R2. 5/8/44 Letter: ”…I have been taking my Radio-Active treatments regularly every night before retiring, except for a few days between periods for 4 cycles each, making 6 days treatments in each group. The instructions advise a few days’ rest between. I am now on my 3rd series of treatments about 1 1/2 months. I am sorry I can’t report an improvement this time, but on the contrary, I am having a terrible time, with violence displayed most nights all thru, and even while I am taking my treatments. In fact there is an antagonism felt as soon as I attach the appliance. However, I am not surprised at these flareups. I have taken 23 osteopathic treatments so far, and apparently need quite a few more. There is an improvement, but it is very slow indeed. Dr. Spohr does everything in his power to help me overcome this difficulty, and is as you suggest, very sympathetic and understanding. It is a great privilege to have his cooperation in this work. I feel that I am doing all I can in prayer, and am becoming more and more aware of the God within. I am confident that with the ‘persistence and consistence’ suggested in my reading, I will finally regain my freedom even tho it takes longer than I at first hoped. We feel so sorry to hear of your illness…”

R3. 7/11/44 Letter: “It is time for a report on my husband and myself. I hesitate to write one because it is very discouraging. I had hoped for a better one this time… I am having an extremely bad time of it - so bad, I am desperate, for we just don’t know what to do to get relief. I have faithfully taken the Radio-Active treatments, and have found no relief in them so far. In fact, my trouble always starts while I’m taking the treatment and keeps up all night long, not allowing any sleep or rest all night long. I have to stay up and walk and pray, and only God knows how weary I am physically and mentally. I have been taking my osteopathic treatments regularly. I have had about 40 so far, and the doctor says there is great improvement in the ovarian region and also in the coccyx area. However, the soreness in the bones of the pelvis and all thru are still so sore, I can hardly stand the treatments. The doctor is at a loss as to what to do for me to relieve me, and he tries so hard. I don’t suppose there could be another check reading? …I have tried to have faith, and work with all the strength and wisdom I possess, but at times I feel that I cannot go on any longer. It is all in the hands of our gracious Father, of course, so may His will be done… We are praying… We are preparing to sell our home and grocery store and move south in search of health…”

R4. 8/2/44 Letter: “I gladly accept your kindness in offering me another check reading… May I suggest that this one be at the ‘life’ level? I believe we might get closer to the difficulty. I have mentioned our clairvoyant friend before. He has come here from Washington several times, and gone with me to the osteopath. Each time he has pointed out a different place which showed darkness in my aura that the osteopath hadn’t yet found. Last week he came again and this time gave me an examination thru the rectum of the coccyx. He went up an inch higher than the osteopath has ever gone, and found above the coccyx, where there had been a break at some time. This place is so sore, it hurt terribly, and he believes that after this is worked on for a while, I might begin to find relief, as the ‘center’ down there closes up so the creature cannot enter. He has seen the creature many times, and says it is on the etheric level, not affecting either my astral or mental bodies. He said only an etheric creature could give my physical body such a reaction. We have worked and tried everything these many years, and are so exhausted and weary of it sometimes we feel that we just can’t do any more, tho my husband says he will keep trying as long as he has an ounce of energy left, and a dollar. How grateful we would be to find relief. The Appliance, from our experience, would irritate this creature, as does anything directed which affects it. When we work with prayer in a powerful manner, it is so irritated that the reaction in my body is more violent than ever. It resents the word of God or anything which might eventually mean its death. I am sure the Appliance would have that lovely effect of sleep on my body too, if it were only a physical condition.”

R5. 9/14/44 Letter: ”…I don’t seem to improve as I hoped that I would by this time. The doctor continues to work on me twice every week, as he has since the first of January. There doesn’t seem to be an end to the soreness and difficulties found in that lower area. There isn’t any doubt, I think, that there is improvement in the whole area, yet it hasn’t made any noticeable difference in my night trouble. In fact it seems to aggravate ‘whatever it is’ and often times for days after my treatment, I seem to be alive in the coccyx area and have to work so hard to free myself. I am continuing the Radio-Active treatments and doing all I can to improve myself and to work spiritually as is my family and friend, for me. I have to work and exercise and fight hard to be able to get to sleep and after an hour generally but sometimes anywhere from 10 minutes to even 3 hours, I am violently awakened, and have to walk the floor and work, use liniment, electricity and everything else I can think of to fight for freedom enough to be able to go back to bed for another hour or so of sleep. This keeps up month after month. With a small amount of sleep, I can get thru the day if I get to lie in bed late mornings and have my afternoon rest, but sometimes and often times now, that I am growing so weary physically, I feel that I just cannot go on another day with this struggle. 25 years of it has worn me out so, physically and mentally, and each year I am noticeably more exhausted. You offered me another check reading… If you do find the time and still feel inclined, I feel that we might find more relief… I realize how busy you are…”

R6. 9/21/44 GD’s letter: “We appreciate the urgency of your condition… Mr. Cayce’s health is such that he will have to take an extended rest… We are making two 1945 appointments…”

R7. 1/16/45 Letter: ”…We are most sincerely grateful for the privilege of having contact with Mr. Cayce, and for the wonderful help and advice which he gave to both of us. We feel that we both can find good health and happiness, and a better understanding eventually from his personal instruction and help. God bless him…”

R8. 12/16/47 Letter: ”…I have to ask you to remove my name from your lists. It has become necessary because we are doing quite a bit for the European relief, and I have had so many connections. I must withdraw from some…”

R9. 1/26/50 Letter: “This is to reply to your letter…asking our reason for dropping from your mailing list some time past… Our first interest has always been Theosophy, and somehow, we got involved in too many different interests. We didn’t have time to read all the material coming in, nor did we feel that we could afford to subscribe for all of them, even tho our good wishes are with all. So we dropped all other interests except Theosophy… We are trying to sell our place so we can move south to a warm, dry climate for the improvement of my husband’s health…”

R11. 8/13/52 Reply to questionnaire-letter: ”…I followed carefully all instructions given me in my two readings. I used the Radio Active Appliance faithfully and had osteopathic treatments. The doctor was very cooperative and still is, trying to give me some relief. I used the mutton tallow, turpentine and camphor mixture and applied it with heat as directed, but found no relief in any of the treatments. I have always felt that we didn’t quite understand the explanations and directions, and so couldn’t follow them more carefully or accurately. The osteopath couldn’t understand, but did the very best he could.

“I cannot say whether the readings described my condition accurately, since we have never learned what it is all about or how to find relief. It has grown increasingly worse and becomes unbearable at times. I wonder how much longer I can survive. An interesting point about my difficulties is that various other members of my family are experiencing the same thing, and naturally their physical make-ups vary radically from mine. My husband has experienced it from time to time; my mother suffered greatly from it as she became weaker, and before her death; and 2 brothers are now suffering, one very seriously. I don’t think of anything else of importance to add concerning my readings… In closing, I want to say that we have always been grateful for the help given and for the desire and effort put forth by Mr. Cayce and his staff in enlightening us about our difficulties. He was and IS a very great soul, and I’m sure bettered the world a great deal. Sincere good wishes to all…”

B2. 2/7/44 Letter: “We so appreciated your letter of January 13, showing your personal interest in both my husband’s and my reading… We are carrying out all instructions so far as we can, and are so happy to have you suggest a check reading for my case… In my reading, none of my questions were asked or answered. Perhaps at this time, if they are considered important enough, they will be answered. Anything that is given us will be helpful; I am sure. Dr. Spohr osteopath] is also writing to you at this time to tell you of his findings and the progress made so far. Since the work has begun I have had a terrible time. My trouble has been stirred up to a very high degree. I don’t think anyone could realize what a healing would mean to me after these 23 years of torture. My husband is carrying out his instructions…”

B3. 2/8/44 Dr. Spohr’s letter: “In response to your request in the case of Mrs. [3421], I am sending you a report of the osteopathic findings in her case. Mrs. [3421] has had 6 treatments since she received her reading from you. As mentioned in your reading I found trouble at the coccyx. The principal soreness seemed to be where the coccyx joined the sacrum, as though the break or injury might have been there. However, the nerve chain leading to the ganglion impar seemed to be indurated especially on the left, and the ganglion may be displaced somewhat to the left. The uterus is in retroversion and adhered to surrounding tissues, especially on the left. That may be where the Lyden ganglion is involved. (I have been reading ‘There Is A River’ - it describes this ganglion as lying in the region of the gonads.) The uterus is improving, and we should soon have it in normal position. The soreness is also leaving the coccyx. The nerve trunk seems also to be improving. I shall await the Check Reading with a great deal of interest. If there is more that I can do, or if there is something not being done right, I shall be only too glad to know it. I am heartily in sympathy with your work, and am hoping for the time to come soon when we can have this higher knowledge and guidance in all our healing work. I think your explanation of the action of the kundaline forces more reasonable than Mrs. [3421]‘s belief that she is possessed by some demonaic entity. However, I explained to her that just as disease germs do not feed on healthy tissue but on waste matter accumulated in the system, so any outside entity could only feed on stagnant energy and not on energy directed in constructive action. I am sure there has been a suppression of sex energy in Mrs. [3421]‘s case, leading to a very negative state. I suspect also that there has been a partial break somewhere on the circuit (perhaps at the coccyx) of the flow of cosmic energy or mind.

“Now of course, these are just some of the ideas that have occurred to me. I shall await your definite findings with great interest. Please do not fail to point out any failure on my part, or anything not being done correctly. I am always willing and anxious to better my technique. We wish you many more years of what we believe is a service to man from the Forces of Light.”

B4. 3/11/44 [3421]‘s Letter: “Thank you for your letter… I shall be at home at the appointed time, praying. I am grateful for this check reading, for neither the doctor nor I are certain that the right work has been done, and whether or not it is finished. It is important to know since I was asked not to use the Radio-Active Appliance until this work was finished. We are all trying to work out every detail faithfully. The gnawing which he speaks of is not in the centers particularly, but mostly in the hips, thigh, knees and shoulders, and occasionally in the lungs when they are affected by cold. The questions were not answered in my first reading, for a reason, no doubt. I have pleaded for help with everyone I thought might understand my trouble, without success. And I have always hoped that if I were fortunate enough to be healed of this, that I could help others in like trouble. This I would be so happy to do. If help comes from this source, I would like to know, if it seems advisable: (1) How I attracted this creature to me? (2) What kind of a creature is it? (3) What satisfaction it derives? (4) How may I free others of a similar affliction?…”
