GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3426].
-
Now as we find, there are definite disturbances that are causing many of those unusual reflex activities to the mental body as well as the organic reactions that become disturbing to the body.
-
These are produced from an injury to the coccyx end of the spine. This has formed a reflex in the brain center that makes for the disorders, lapses of the activity - almost amnesia, but it is not altogether of that nature - merely the semblance of same at times.
-
If these pressures to the coccyx are corrected, we find that those conditions will disappear that have occurred in various other portions of the body, in reflexes to the activity of organs.
-
We find that these should be corrected by a chiropractor or an osteopath who would make the proper adjustments in those areas.
-
There should not be required more than six or eight adjustments, if done properly. Other portions of the spine should be coordinated with the corrections made in the coccyx end of the spine; especially the 1st, 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th cervicals.
-
After at least four or five of the corrections have been made (not before), we would begin using for one hour each day the Radio-Active Appliance to equalize distribution of energies and circulation through the body. Use such periods for the deep meditation.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What caused my landing in the hospital in Feb. 1941? (A) Read what we have just given.
-
(Q) Was I discharged too soon from the hospital after my accident in spring of 1942? (A) Not necessarily. Needn’t have been in the hospital for this condition which has caused or induced the disturbance.
-
(Q) Does exertion bring on my trouble? (A) Yes, activities - for it brings about greater pressures on the whole cerebrospinal nervous system.
-
(Q) I have been studying ship drafting since August 1943 and have about finished my course. Will my physical condition prevent me from obtaining work in this line, or holding on to job after I get it? (A) Not unless nothing is done about the physical condition! If something is done about it, this should not prevent. If nothing is done about it, along the lines suggested, then you won’t do much at shipbuilding or anything else that requires physical or mental activities.
-
(Q) Can you tell me what the Government records show is my trouble and what became of all my papers that were lost? (A) We haven’t the Government records - we have the body!
Do these things as we have indicated and in the mental application of self construct that which is spiritually creative. Apply that in the life, in the daily dealings with others.
- We are through with this Reading.
Two copies to Self (one for the chiropractor or osteopath - Please let us have the name and address of the one chosen.) Copy to Ass’n file ” ” Miss Goodall for indexing ” ” Mrs. [2990]

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/28/60 Dr. Pahnke’s letter:
Dear Mr. [3426]:
I need your help in carrying out a research project in which I am engaged. I am examining the Edgar Cayce records in an attempt to determine common patterns in the forms of treatments recorded in certain diseases. I am trying to discover the practical value of these treatments in the cases for which the readings were given.
One of the diseases I am studying is epilepsy. I would appreciate a brief follow-up report from you on the results you got from your own personal reading. I would like to know 1) if you thought the description in your reading fitted your case, 2) for how long and 3) to what extent you followed the treatment and 4) what results were obtained. Please be frank. If you thought the reading was inaccurate or if after an honest and careful trial you noted no improvement I would like to know this just as much as if you had a complete cure. Most important of all, are you still suffering from convulsions in any form? Also, what has been the exact medical diagnosis of your condition by doctors?
You may be certain that your answer and your original reading and correspondence will be kept strictly confidential in my analysis of the material.
Sincerely yours,
Walter N. Pahnke, M.D.
R2. Case [3426]. Given in 1944. 23 year old male. This was classified as group 1. There is a good chance that this case was petit-mal epilepsy, from the description in the correspondence. There was no follow-up.

B1. 12/20/43 Letter to EC from [3426]: “I have my appointment for a physical reading, Jan. 3, 1944, 3:30 - 4:30 EWT., and at that time will be in living room of my home at …
“As my discharge I signed was lost and therefore I don’t know what the Govt. reports show, and the Govt. Drs. can’t agree and won’t reveal findings on me, I am anxiously awaiting your reading to help me out.
“I know nothing is impossible for our heavenly Father to accomplish, so if it is His Will, know He will help me, through you.
“Please answer as many, of these following questions, as possible.
“Thank you, I am,”
Gratefully and Sincerely, [3426]
- Just what is wrong with me, the cause, and what can I do to improve or remedy it?
- What caused my landing in the hospital, in Feb., 1941?
- Is my condition now, the result of being discharged too soon from hospital, after my accident in Spring of 1942, and was it aggravated by my service later?
- Does exertion, or what other cause, bring on my trouble?
- I have been studying ship drafting since Aug., 1943 and have about finished my course. Will my physical condition prevent me from obtaining work in this line, or holding on to job after I get it?
- If you can, tell me what the Govt. records show is my trouble and what became of all my papers that were lost, so I can get them straightened out.
B2. 1/3/44 Phoned questions by his aunt, Mrs. [2990]:
- What causes these spells?
- How may they be prevented or entirely overcome?
- How can I get my papers straightened out regarding my medical discharge from the Army?
- Is the drafting work I am studying too hard on my eyes? or will it interfere with my health?”
(She [his aunt] is coming to be present if it stops raining, but has had the flu and can’t get out unless the weather clears - said her sister had written to Mr. Cayce on the 22nd verifying the appointment and giving questions, but these are the things he wants to know, and will be at home for the Reading. He had an illness when a child - they thought it was meningitis, but he got alright and had no trouble until this condition developed 2 or 3 yrs. ago when he went into the Army. For no apparent reason he just ‘folds up’, doesn’t remember anything - about a year ago he was medically discharged from the Army, though he has not received any papers officially yet. They apparently think it is a form of epilepsy. He is quite nervous at times, but otherwise there is nothing to indicate that a spell will occur. Since being out of the Army he has been studying on drafting work, which is quite hard on his eyes - he’s wondering if this will interfere with his health.)
