This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Miss [3286], his aunt.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. (Notes read to and transcribed by Jeanette Fitch.) Harmon Bro.]

-
EC: Yes, we have the body and the conditions which caused those activities that are the results in the present.
-
In the period of gestation pressures were created in the body-forces, with those happenings during that period. These are in the areas of the spine as well as the base of the brain, or the 1st and 2nd cervical.
-
Now the reflexes are indicated in the body. By their very nature, these produce incoordination in the organs of the sensory system. There are not normal developments in the reactions of impulses and the brain and sympathetic system. Thus the position of the eyes, those tendencies towards lack of taste, the conditions that make for hesitancies in speech, the extreme nervousness with feet and hands at times. All such reactions retard normal development.
-
Then, as we find, specific corrections are to be made by a good anatomist who would aid in releasing these tensions in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cervical; the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dorsal, and in the lumbar and sacral axis.
-
There should be required several series of these adjustments. Have eight to ten treatments at the first series. Rest from these for three to four weeks, and then have another series, and we will find that we will not only correct the position of the eyes but we will alleviate those tendencies that cause hesitancy - and will bring about near to normal development.
-
Following each treatment - it may be a few hours later, but there must be these corrections in the coordinating of centers between sympathetic and cerebrospinal system - we would give the body a good hot bath and a massage with cocoa butter in the areas where corrections have been made, so that there will be supplied food for the lymph and emunctory circulation. These areas will become dried with the corrections and make the body more sensitive at times, while this relaxing with the hot water and the cocoa butter massage will bring good sleep and recuperative forces for the body.
-
Few have counted the value of sleep. Well, a dissertation here would not be in order.
-
But do these things as indicated and we will find that we will bring much better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is the cause of his cough? (A) With the lack of coordination there is a tickling sensation in the throat. The palate is low. Don’t clip it but do correct the centers in the upper dorsal and we will find that gradually, by the correct diet and building up his general health, there will be better impulses.
-
(Q) Does this same condition cause his subnormal hearing? (A) We have just described how that all the organs of the sensory system are involved through pressures that have been produced in the upper cervical, the upper dorsal and through the lumbar and sacral areas.
-
(Q) Is his diet adequate? (A) He will call for the diet as you begin to make these changes in the body.
-
(Q) Any suggestion as to who is best to make these adjustments? (A) Anyone who is an extraordinary good anatomist and osteopath.
-
(Q) What is the cause of his vomiting? (A) This is the incoordination between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal system that produces convulsions in the area of the duodenum and thus an expulsion from the stomach.
Do not use operative forces on ear, tongue, eyes or any of the organs of the sensory system. Do use the applications indicated here.
- We are through with this Reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/18/44 Mother requested appointment for the 2nd rdg., saying: “I am highly pleased with the 1st rdg., and if there is any additional information I can supply concerning reaction of [3558] to the tr., I will be glad to do so.”
R2. 2/29/44 She submitted questions.
R3. 3/30/44 See Ck. Physical Rdg. 3558-2.
Background
Background
B1. 11/28/43 Aunt [3286] requested emergency rdg. for little [3358] “to analyze and cure his horrible cough which seems to be a torture of hell itself. For the past 3 yrs. the advent of winter has brought back the cough and this yr. it is a raging horror. He vomits several times each night and loses at least half the night in these violent attacks. He complains of pains in his stomach and sides when he coughs. It is a harrowing experience to merely witness, and I really don’t know how the child survives it. Medical examinations pronounce him perfect with no cause for coughing. We realize that because of that a Physical Rdg. is his salvation… Also, please give the cause and cure for his occasional cross-eyes.”
B2. 1/4/44 Mother submitted questions, including: “What can be done about the wheeze in his chest when he breathes? Why does he catch cold so often and what is to be done about it? What causes him to develop habits, every once in a while, like biting his nails or picking his nose?
