This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - through friend, Mr. [3638], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:40 to 10:45 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Louisiana.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - they’d better take the body away.

3. As we find, the decisions should be for the operation, for already poisons are so distributed through the system as for this to be questionable.

4. This will necessitate following same that there be the setting up of drainages throughout the body.

5. The decisions are correct.

6. Ready for questions.

7. (Q) Would it be advisable to place the body in the care of a different physician? Whom? (A) They’ve already made the decision - you can’t change it in the present. We would follow through.

8. (Q) Any warnings to physicians regarding procedures? (A) As just indicated, there should be drainages set up, and this can best be accomplished by hot and cold applications and massages.

9. (Q) Any spiritual advice? (A) These, in the present, will have to come from others. All who understand should pray about it.

10. We are through with this reading.

B1. 1/24/44 Harmon Bro’s note to EC: “Mr. [3638] called at 3:45 P.M. from … in desperation. He has written us about a rdg. for himself and gotten the data. But now his close friend [3588] is about to have his leg amputated.

“Mr. [3638] feels that you are the only man in the world who could tell him whether that amputation is necessary in the NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, and whether his friend is likely to die as a result of the operation.

“I told him that there were 4500 appointments ahead of him, and he simply prayed on the phone. Such great faith!

“After I outlined what has to be done before you can even consider a reading, he told me he would do these things, just in desperate hope.

1. Send off the application to us by Air Mail tonight.
2. Wire the membership fee and request for a reading.
3. Come down to the Beach if he possibly can, from … to get the most perspective on the rdg. and the work, at the end of this week. But he pleads for the reading anywhere it can be squeezed in. (If he only knew how we are already squeezed!)

“The patient is critically ill.

His name is [3588] He is of course bedridden, at … Street, …, Louisiana. He is in the care of his friend Mr. [3638] and dependent upon him. The doctors have said that to delay amputation more than a day or two might be fatal, but Mr. [3638] is not sure they know what they’re doing.

“Having said all this, I still don’t see anything you could do for him, being so crowded.

“But I leave it in your hands!”
