[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. (Notes read to and transcribed by Jeanette Fitch.) Harmon Bro.]
Time of Reading 11:20 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Texas.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Beaumont, Texas - there’s a good shower coming up.
-
Yes, we have the body here, [3624]. As we find, there are disturbances with this body. These are primarily the effect of a despondency and a nervous shock to the whole system, though the assimilating system has become very much disturbed. At times the appetite is so little, at other periods the body feels ravenous, but a few mouthsful taken and there is almost nausea, if there’s the attempt to go farther.
-
These as we find, are the basis or sources of the tiredness, the restlessness, the insomnia at times, the headaches, the general drain on the system; producing a form of anemia that may become very disturbing unless measures are taken to correct same.
-
First, here, begin with the mental attitude. For here there must be more purposefulness, more general planning in the hopes and desires of the mental and physical body. The spirit is willing, the flesh has proven weak.
-
We would begin first, with the formulating of policies and attitudes for the balancing of the life principles and purposes. It is just as necessary that there be food for the spiritual and mental man as for the physical man - and this applies to self.
-
Take time first to be holy. Don’t let a day go by without meditation and prayer for some definite purpose, and not for self, but that self may be the channel of help to someone else. For in helping others is the greater way to help self.
-
Do take plenty of time for rest. Do take time for plenty of definite labors. Working with the husband is very good, but here you often get cross and are in a manner closed from some associations and activities. But take time to work, to think, to make contacts for a social life and for recreation. This old adage might well apply: After breakfast, work a while, after lunch rest a while, after dinner walk a mile. This as a recreation may be a helpful, balanced experience for this life. As these purposes are set in motion, let it not be “Well, I’ll do this sometime” but set all of these in motion for at least a week.
-
And then go to a good osteopath who will relax the whole body; not trying to stimulate but to set up drainages. One of the best methods, even for the osteopath, whether he’s ever tried it or not, he will find what it will do here: When the body is upon the back for the treatment, raise the head and place the fist on the 3rd cervical, and let the body rest full weight, even pressing gently - not hard, but gently - until the body does relax. Hold the fist there for a minute, two minutes, and after a while it may be two and one half to three minutes. This will drain, as it were, the whole system; setting up better eliminations throughout the whole body. [7/28/46 See report on this tr. under 1523-17 Reports.]
-
Have these regularly for at least sixteen osteopathic adjustments.
-
After at least two or three of the adjustments, begin taking KalDak as a stimulant carrying sufficient phosphorous, iron and other vitamins of a B complex for recuperative forces and resistance-building in the body.
-
Do these.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are endocrine glands functioning properly? (A) Endocrine glands here are not the sources of the trouble, but in the assimilation or in the liver, the pancreas, the spleen and as related to the activity between the pylorus and the lower portion of the stomach.
-
(Q) Do I have a mental disorder? (A) No!
Do as has been indicated, and we will be relieved of these disturbances - the headaches, the tiredness, and the general “don’t care” attitude. Be purposeful, be good for something.
- We are through with this reading.
Two copies to Self - (one for the osteopath - Please let us have the name and address of the one you choose.) Copy to Ass’n file
(KalDak is distributed by the KalDak Company, Hollister Building, Lansing, Michigan and sells for $2.50 a package.)

R1. 3/22/44 [3624]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Arctic Crescent Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I apologize for waiting so long to write after the reading, but the fact is my son had arrived home from Marine boot-training at San Diego the night before I received the reading in a serious condition with rheumatic fever and pneumonia. He is now in the Naval Hospital in New Orleans and will be there for some time. I have been so disturbed, and my routine of living so disrupted, that I only recently started the treatments as suggested in your letter. Have today written for the KalDak.
Name and address of osteopath treating me is Dr. I. K. Moorehouse, American Nat’l. Bank Bldg. …, Texas.
I will write you later as to the results of the treatment as it is too early now to tell, and thank you so much for the reading. I do not know as to the physical part (as I honestly could not tell what was wrong with me) but the mental condition or attitude was described accurately.
Sincerely, [3624]
R2. 3/27/44 EC’s letter:
Mrs. [3624] …, Texas
Dear Mrs. [3624]:
Thank you very, very much for your letter of the 22nd.
I am sorry to hear that you have been so up-set owing to the condition of your son who has just arrived in this country. I do hope that you are following through very closely with the suggestions as we made in your reading.
Thank you for the name and address of Dr. I. K. Moorehouse. If Dr. Moorehouse wishes to know something of what other osteopaths through the country think of the work, we will be glad to give him the name and let him write to them directly. Ask him what school he attended. I am sure we have some, either in the college, or graduates from the same college, and maybe the same class, who are supporters of the work here.
Do let us hear from you from time to time. I certainly hope that your son will respond to the treatments that are being given and will soon be much better.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce [EC/gm]

B1. 11/22/43 [3624]‘s letter:
Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc. Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Sirs:
If I have addressed this letter to the wrong party won’t you be good enough to pass it along to the proper person?
I have just learned through reading some of your literature that there is a hospital - an Edgar Cayce hospital - in Virginia Beach. This was of great interest to me for I have been ill for so many years and have despaired of ever regaining my health. I would like very much to enter this hospital and secure Mr. Cayce’s readings and follow treatment as suggested therefrom.
Please give me some information about the hospital - If it is possible for me to enter and when - Tell me what the hospital rates are - the doctor’s fees and what Mr. Cayce’s charges will be.
Thanking you very much for an early reply, I am
Sincerely, [3624]
P.S. My son […] is on the waiting list for a reading from Mr. Cayce. I am reading the fascinating book of the life of Mr. Cayce.
B2. 12/14/43 [3624]‘s letter:
Membership and Reading Committee Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc. Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Dear Sirs:
Enclosed you will find $20.00 with my application for Associate membership in your Association.
Let me assure you that my need for a Physical Reading is great, as is my desire for enlightenment along this line.
Here are the questions I would like asked at my reading.
- What causes this terrible tiredness of my mind and body, and lack of strength? What can be done to cure it?
- Do I have a mental disorder? If so, what is it and how can it be cured?
- I am extremely tense and nervous most of the time - what can be done for this?
- Are Endoctrine [endocrine] glands functioning properly? If not, what can be done to make them?
- What can be done to heal the inflamed condition of my intestinal tract?
These are the more important questions that I would like answered in my reading. I have been terribly ill for the last twenty years and no doctor has been able to find my trouble or help me.
I hope that when my turn comes I may be able to secure a clear, good reading. I am going to cooperate in the way suggested in your letter.
Hoping to hear from you, I am
Sincerely, [3624]
