GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes - we have the body here, [1523]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, many changes have taken place in the body since last we had it here - physical and mental. Not all of these are for the best in the present. For there has arisen the acute conditions not only from physical reactions but mental conditions that have been as resentments, which have been builded into the mental forces of the body. These reacting with the physical effects upon organ centers that have been a portion of the body’s study, now find reflexes in various portions of the body. [Resentments toward sex activities]
-
These are indicated in the toxic conditions from cold as well as the poisons from gum conditions have settled in joints, as in hips, shoulders, neck and head.
-
We find that there would be almost immediate relief from a good, thorough Fume Bath followed by a good rubdown and a gentle but thorough osteopathic relaxation. Such a relaxing treatment should be made to set up drainages from the various centers; as the 4th lumbar, 9th dorsal, 6th and 7th dorsal, 4th and 2nd dorsal, 3rd cervical. This will allow the centers to relax, from which there are the effects of poisons upon the general system in a reflex manner; and then the poisons may be eliminated through the alimentary canal, the respiratory and perspiratory system.
-
Use Witchhazel in the Fumes. These treatments we would have once each week until at least three treatments have been given in the manner indicated. Each time have the thorough massage or a full, complete osteopathic relaxing, not a stimulating treatment.
-
Then change your mental attitude, and we will find there will be bettered conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Why has the heartbeat been so rapid, especially just after retiring? (A) This is the system attempting to adjust itself to the variations in tempo of the physical and the mental body. This is just as described. The impulses arising from centers along the spine from deep meditation, deep imagination or deep thinking, radiate to various portions of the body. With the congestion which has arisen from toxic poisons resulting from cold, it makes everything work fast. You had just as well ask why does it make the liver work faster, the kidneys work faster, the toes work faster! It doesn’t the tongue, or the eyes, or the smell, or any of the sensory organs - for these become dull or slow. It’s the central nervous system, attuning to the mental system!
Here you may have a very good demonstration of a physical body and a mental body. Tune them together!
-
(Q) Are there adhesions in Fallopian tube preventing normal activity of the ovum flow? (A) No; this is from general repressions and those disturbances arising from long ago that have not been fully completed in their correction. This may be accomplished by the building of better body-conditions physically and the coordinating mentally to bring better relationships.
-
(Q) Please suggest corrective measures for occasional pain in left side. (A) What have we been doing! All of these symptoms are associated one with the other; and if there is brought about better accord, better coordinating through the system, those tensions will be removed that cause these disturbances. Do that.
Would breathing exercise for re-ionizing the system together with the head and neck exercise be well at this time?
Not until we get the body coordinating better physically and physically-mentally. Then these exercises would be very well, to keep the activity in body.
- (Q) Please suggest foods to help build up my reserve strength. Would beef juice be helpful? (A) Wouldn’t be helpful in the immediate, but when drainages are set up all of the body-building forces would be well - keeping them well balanced. These would be given in an outline - not the only foods, but an outline: Mornings - whole grain cereals or citrus fruit juices, though not at the same meal. When using orange juice, combine lime with it. When using grapefruit, combine lemon with it - just a little. Egg, preferably only the yolk, or rice or buckwheat cakes, or toast, or just any one of these, would be well of mornings.
Noons - a raw salad, including tomatoes, radishes, carrots, celery, lettuce, watercress - any or all of these, with a soup or vegetable broth, or seafoods or the like.
Evenings - fruits, as cooked apples; potatoes, tomatoes, fish, fowl, lamb, and occasionally beef but not too often.
Keep these as the main part of a well balanced diet. Any cereal drink may be taken, but keep away from carbonated drinks.
-
(Q) What laxative would be best for occasional use? (A) A vegetable laxative for this body, varied once in a while with a mineral.
-
(Q) Any mental and spiritual advice regarding the outstanding problem about which I have been so concerned? A.R.E. personnel turmoils] (A) Find the answers deep within self. For, as indicated, know thy Redeemer liveth. He may live in and with thee. Open the door. Coordinate purposes with hopes, with desires. Then act that way; expecting thyself to do thy share and thy Lord, thy Christ, to do His - and He will!

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/44 She wrote that she and her husband, [1650], had separated.
R2. 1/13/45 [1523] wrote: ”…The reaction which took place from the past months’ activities has really been something. Last night my heart acted up to the extent of waking me up several times. This should disappear when I get my blood pressure up. I can’t remember whether I told you in my last letter, but Dr. Emil Smith [D.O.] said the count was only 104, which makes it just 16 points low! [2803] is going to get some meat for beef juice today. I’ve also had a little trouble keeping my emotions balanced… I’m going in for another treatment Monday…”
R3. 12/7/45 See her letter under 1523-13 Reports, telling how healthy she is getting to be.
R4. 7/28/46 [1523]‘s letter to GD:
”…Gladys, I have had the good fortune of finding an osteopath that is not even second to Dr. Gena Crews. He is Dr. C. C. Akers of 811 Church Street, Lynchburg. For some time I have been getting two treatments a week from him. He never gives less than thirty minutes and he treats the tissue of the face - the entire length of the spine and the legs and feet. I have spoken to him about the Ass’n - though his questions seem to center mostly around Mr. Cayce and the manner in which information was given - its limitations - and lastly what’s next. I have given him all of the extracts on osteopathy from the ‘Health Hints’ or whatever they’re called now - though I don’t believe he has given them any serious time or study. I take Dr. Akers to be a man of fifty-five or sixty, very approachable - even though he’s a bachelor. He must be six foot, two inches tall, very nice looking with grey hair, reminds me a little of Dr. Bidwell [William T. Bidwell, D.C.]. He told me that he would work with anyone on their readings. Judging from the boxes with garments, each with individual names - I would say that he has a steady following of some 150 people or maybe more. He’s told me something of an invention that he is trying to perfect. Should you have form letters, literature, maybe something re ARE he would probably be interested if not actively so at first. I told him of the extract (incidentally he only charges $2.00 per treatment) which starts something like this: ‘…whether any osteopath has or will try it - [3624-1] by placing the fist under the 3rd cervical and pressing gently on the head, from 1 1/2 to 3 minutes - it will set up all the eliminations in the body’ - something like that. I don’t have the extract at hand. He tried it, but felt there must be a mistake in where the fist should be placed - so he didn’t bother to time it or anything. Since no one had ever gone that far with trying this manipulation on me - I had no idea what reaction to expect anyhow, so I just didn’t mention it to him again. Then something very interesting happened. I had something of a headache from using my eyes too much I guess, and I stretched out across the bed. Rather than mess up the bed by taking one of the pillows from under the spread I took a cover at the foot of the bed, folded and rolled it into a hard roll and used it for a pillow. The roll was too small but I only expected to lie there a few minutes so I paid no attention to the fact that I had placed the roll directly under the 3rd cervical and that the weight of my head was creating a pressure to the spine. I was thinking mostly of my headache and other things. How long it was before I noticed it, I don’t know - but all of a sudden, I was conscious of fluids just pouring into my stomach; further more, my stomach was sounding like a one man band. I thought, gosh, I must have eaten something not in the books for me - and so I remained still, trying to figure out what it could have been, and finally I realized what was happening. I thought to myself - now, ain’t [that] something - I’ll just stay this way a while and see what else will happen. Well, I found out. I began to get nauseated and it was some thirty minutes to an hour before my stomach quieted down and stopped cramping. The next day I felt as though I had drunk a half bottle of Castoria. MORAL: Follow the readings. If it says start with 1 1/2 minutes and work up to three, then do so! I, of all people, should know that…!”
R5. 4/18/47 [1523]‘s letter [from Fla.]:
”…Thanks so much for Dr. D. A. Musselman’s address. I hope to get over there next week for an osteopathic treatment. I am sadly in need of treatments, and I hope his method of treatment will suit my needs…”
R6. 12/17/47 [1523]‘s letter:
”…I’m having my teeth worked on, starting from scratch, meaning with x-rays. I have decided to have the two missing molars replaced with bridge work - at the cost of
200.00. In addition to this there will be about100 for gum treatment and fillings. The x-ray showed some gum disturbance, nothing terrible, but the dentist seemed to think that the gums should be treated (at $5.00 a crack). Needless to say, I have been using Ipsab, and will continue to do so. One of my last Physical readings cautioned me that I should use it from time to time, and this can serve as a report that the need was very much there! Another report of a kind, when I was home last June - if you remember, I didn’t feel so hot - when I came back I didn’t pull out of it; nothing I seemed to be able to put my finger on, but just felt depressed and lifeless. So one day when I was talking to a Mr. Lewis (Jewish) about his health, suggesting that he better have his blood pressure checked - it dawned on me that - that was what was wrong with me. I promptly made up my beef juice (a favorite of mine anyhow) and in two weeks time I felt like a new person. I took two series of beef juice. There is just nothing like it, and it’s so pleasant to take. I am pretty sure that Mr. Lewis was a brother of mine in the Jewish incarnation I was given in my Life reading. He doesn’t adhere to the Jewish faith - but without realizing it, puts into practice Christianity - as I understand it.“This is all I have time for just now, Gladys. Remember me to all, and my best to you as usual…” Love, [1523]
R7. 9/14/48 Letter in re loss of weight, weakness, etc. from mental-emotional strain, see under 1523-13 Reports.
R8. 4/23/49 [1523]‘s letter: ”…Now here’s a REAL osteopath. At long last I found one near … He wrote in for a Physical reading but was among the many whose appointments were not kept [because of Mr. Cayce’s illness and death]. He was not ill, just wanted to see what kind of a diagnosis Mr. Cayce would give. His wife is a most charming person who works with the doctor. Dr. PRESTON REED HUBBELL says he will follow through on suggestions in readings, should there be anyone in this area needing his cooperation…”
R9. 7/26/49 [1523]‘s letter: ”…Saturday afternoon I went over all my readings, that is, the Physical readings, and some of the others. My eyes are getting weak; farsighted, and I can’t seem to remember when it started. My reading gave me the head and neck exercises which I remember distinctly - and also gave me the violet ray [1523-15, Par. 6-A] but didn’t tell me how long to use it or where it should be applied (back of neck, eyeball itself, etc., etc.). Could you possibly take time to advise me about using this? I would so appreciate it, knowing what a demand there is on your time…”
R10. 7/28/49 GD’s note: I sent her extracts 288-1 and 4206-1 in re use of violet ray.
R11. 9/19/49 [1523]‘s letter: ”…My [636] (prescription) came, and I have started right in taking it. Thanks a million for sending it to me…”
R12. 10/5/49 [1523]‘s letter: ”…I’m on my second 10-day series of taking the [636]. Results so far are as follows: Increased appetite, cigs don’t taste good anymore, even the occasional beer has lost its flavor. Very much increased monthly period, noticeable increase of color in cheeks - more pep, but not consistently as yet. Shall keep it up for suggested six month period, and make further reports from time to time.
[…] and I are going to Ft. Lauderdale to Dr. Hubbell for an osteopathic treatment this afternoon. She says he is much better than Musselman. Dr. Hubbell has what he calls a spinalator - have you ever heard of one? I have the impression that it’s his own idea; also a chair he invented, to keep the spine in its proper position when sitting, adorns the waiting room…”
