[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. [1523], Mrs. [2175] and Mrs. [413].]
Time of Reading 11:20 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Virginia.

GC: You will have before you the life existence in the earth plane of [1523], nee […], born Dec. 2, 1908, in Oceana, Va., and the earthly existence of this entity as Margo Meguiette, in France during the early Louis’s. You will give a biographical life of the entity in that day and plane of earthly existence, from entrance - and now - into the earth’s plane, and the entity’s departure, giving the development or retarding points in such an existence. Then you will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them, concerning the associations in the present from that period, and how she may meet or use constructively the problems arising from such.
-
EC: Yes, we are given the records here of that entity now known as or called [1523], and the records of the entity in those experiences during the periods of the Louises in France.
-
In giving the interpretations, and in outlining a life sketch, it would be well to understand something of the period, the activities, and those conditions.
-
The entity, in its associations, was among those who had been of the peoples raised to power through the activities and abilities of those in close associations with the Louises in their reign as the rulers in France.
-
Hence the entity was of the families of those who were in authority, and - through those relations - sought the experiences among the nobility of the period, as called.
-
Those conditions that had to do with the court, as well as the activities in the diplomatic relations, were parts of the entity’s experience, as it developed and grew to womanhood.
-
Attracting then the attention of Louis, - this brought about the companionships as a consort; thus bringing activities into the experience about which there were many questionings, not only on the part of the relations or the families and their activities, but eventually to self - when there were the replacements by the associations from other courts.
-
These brought into the experience of the entity, then, hate, disturbance, desire to be in the position to cause others to suffer.
-
And the entity, in companionship with others, sought to undermine those activities - as to bring about disturbance with those in authority.
-
This - as ever from the mental and spiritual forces - only brought the turning to the gratifying of material desires, or - eventually, to this entity - the renouncing of the world and the turning to the church.
-
Consequently, in that portion of the experience when the entity attempted to take the veil, there came about two very disturbing experiences.
-
For, after the periods when there had been those changes wrought in the determination and in the activities of the entity to renounce all of the world, Louis AGAIN looked upon the entity and desired the body.
-
This brought confusion. Yet, with the aids from the very MANNER in which the efforts were made, it brought that great disturbance between the church and the Louis’s; that found greater activity in the cardinal’s relationships and activities through the rest of the experience in the land.
-
Hence, though disturbed in body and in mind, the entity remained true to the vows through the rest of that experience, in the attempt to make amends for the thoughts, the deeds and the purposes through the earlier portion of the sojourn there.
-
The entity’s latter life, then, was one of self-sacrifice; but never WHOLLY, mentally, in accord with the physical activities.
-
In the present experience, in making application of the lessons in what may be termed the karmic influences arising from same:
-
To be sure, problems, associations and activities have arisen, will arise, do arise.
-
That means, then, the entity is meeting self and NOT another’s problems.
-
First find thy purpose, thy activity, that thou desirest to do; and with the might, and with the ideal, keep the self true to thy purpose.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) With which of the Louis’s was I closely associated? (A) The 14th, leading into the 15th.
-
(Q) Was I associated with [1650] in that period? if so, in what way, and what are the urges from same in relation to the present problem? (A) He was the one ye used to counteract those experiences! Draw thine own parallel! Ye are doing the same. What will ye do with each?
-
(Q) Did I know Agatha Bielle, now [288], if so what were the associations? (A) In that period when each had taken the convent, or veil, yes.
-
(Q) Did I come in contact with the activities surrounding her child? [294]? (A) Under the care for same. For, that was a portion of the activity as indicated that brought the greater joy to the experience - the tending or caring for children; though the entity - that is, the child - died under or during those experiences.
-
(Q) What causes the emotional reactions to the opening or closing of a door? (A) How many times and how oft has there been the experience of things going on behind the door, and the listening at same, in the court!
-
(Q) Why do I feel depressed and lonely at nightfall? (A) This is the common lot of man. For, the day and the night are one in man’s own experience - and these come as parts of the emotions. Very few - but many - find that period of the gloaming as the period of expectancy. Others find it as the period in which they are being left alone. For, ye were oft - as have been many - left at eventide.
-
(Q) Would it be indicated at this time whether or not this is the disturbance referred to for 1941? (A) And it hasn’t finished yet! What will ye do about it? It is! [See 1523-13, Par. R3.]
-
(Q) Suggest affirmation helpful to all in this problem? (A) HERE, O GOD, AM I, TOSSED BY THE CARES AND DESIRES OF LIFE IN THE MATERIAL WORLD. CREATE THOU IN MY MIND AND BODY, O GOD, THE RENEWING OF THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, OF HELPFULNESS, IN SUCH MEASURES THAT MY BODY, MY MIND, MY SOUL MAY KEEP IN ACCORD, IN ATTUNE TO THAT COMMAND AS THE MASTER GAVE, - “I CONDEMN THEE NOT: GO AND SIN NO MORE.”
-
(Q) Regarding the abilities especially from that period, please advise as to the manner in which I may influence or help bring more of constructive purposefulness into the life of [ex-husband] [2508], considering my purposes and that which is being builded with my present husband, [1650]. (A) This may be answered only in self, as has been indicated. As has been seen here, there were those periods in which doubt and desire overcame the purpose. DO NOT let it reoccur.
-
(Q) Would it be advisable to tell [1650] of my desires and purposes regarding this problem - or to in any way seek his help? (A) To thine own undoing?
-
(Q) What in the past associations with [2508] gives me the feeling that no difficulty is beyond my ability when I think in terms of our meeting the difficulty together - this being true only as a part of the day dreams which gives a buoyancy and zest to my daily activities? (A) Because ye felt that he turned to thee again! Do not fool thine own self!
-
(Q) What causes that feeling on the part of each of the need to talk with or just see one another in passing? (A) That which is the basis of desire; one of those destructive forces, one of those creative forces, dependent upon its use!
-
(Q) With my desire and purpose to help [2508], advise as to whether I should counsel with him, encouraging him to use the guidance he has been given in his physical reading? (A) Let him stand on his own feet, not on yours!
-
(Q) In what manner can I keep this force which seems to draw us together from time to time, from interfering with the oneness I am attempting to reach with [1650]? (A) To thine own self be true.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. GD’s note: Mrs. [1523] later told us that she saw her first husband, [2508], off and on all through that summer. There was a strong emotional pull toward him and away from [1650]. The rift between her and [1650] seemed to widen. She indicated that without the guidance of the readings she probably would have terminated her marriage with [1650] at that time; she was sure this was the period of disturbance referred to in 1523-4 which was to occur in ‘41. [Her dreams which follow seem to indicate her state of turmoil in re her marriage, etc.]
DREAMS of Mrs. [1523] as recorded by her:
August 7, 1941. I saw [1650] in an embrace with a girl that looked like [2175]. There was complete adoration in her eyes - and [1650] said “For the first time I know what real love means.” I was very disturbed in the dream because I seemed to realize that he would have responded in the same manner no matter who the girl might have been.
August 10, 1941. There was a couple and an extra girl waiting for [1650]. They were very anxious for him to hurry. He stopped to open the sandwiches I had made for him and threw them on the ground. I picked them up and they were alright but when [1650] took hold of them to show me, they were full of ants, - suddenly teeming with ants. I explained that I had put them in the frigidaire - and he reluctantly admitted that he was responsible but went off in a rage with the girl and couple waiting for him. (I felt very upset and disturbed when I awoke - just as I did when I had the dream about the child - see reading 1523-12, Par. 17-A.)
October 3, 1941. A bull was chasing me and I ran around on a porch very much like that of the front porch of the Breakers Cottage on 27th St., Va. Beach. - I hoped to escape thru one of the three doors at the end of the porch. The doors were closed and there was no time for opening them so I could escape from the bull. I called and no one heard me. When I realized there was no escape, I gave up and very fearfully awaited my death. When the bull attacked me - much to my surprise - it didn’t hurt at all. The bull dissolved like an air bubble.
October 9, 1941. [1650] and I were having a very heated disagreement at a new home which my family had built. They were there at the time. I left the room before a decision was reached and went out the back way. As I went thru the boiler room someone of the family put their hand on the pipe to the oil burner and it broke and caught on fire. I was frantic and called for someone - either [4930] or [1650] - to get a hose. They weren’t in the least alarmed and I was unable to find anything to put the fire out. (When I awoke, I felt very depressed & fearful - the dream awakened me.) October 18, 1941. [1650] and I were at a dance. He was completely indifferent - So I decided to go home. He stayed and it was about three o’clock when I heard him come in. I got up, being upset that he was so late. He was drunk and had been in a fight - his clothes were nearly torn off and he had a black eye. Later [4930] told me he had been fighting with [2508] and had nearly killed him. I told [1650] I would hate him the rest of my life for what he had done. Later I caught up with him and told him I didn’t mean it but I didn’t understand why he would do such a thing when he was so much larger than [2508].
R2. 1/31/42 Mrs. [1523]‘s ltr. to EC:
My dearest friend and loved one:-
Each day I have tried to write you in answer - not only to the beautiful letter giving me the opportunity to join you and many others in a period of daily prayer [See under 2678-1 Background] - but there are so many things I would like you to know that I don’t seem to be able to put into verbal or written words.
Maybe if I tell you that it began with my knowing you and I hope that it will never end - that just being near YOU and your family has come to mean more to me than anything that has ever come into my existence it will in a very small degree give you an idea of the gratitude I am trying to express for having received such a blessing.
I hope that someday I will be worthy of the love and patience you have shown me - and that I may in some measure, not only pass this on to others, but return it to you in full measure and more. My daily prayer is that I will not falter in measuring up to all that you have so willingly and unselfishly brought to me and those close to me.
Of all the people I know, I don’t know anyone who has been so privileged as I - nor given such an opportunity as I - for having been taken into the family and as I look back to 1938 - I’ve often wondered why. I only hope and pray that I can prove myself worthy.
Sincerely, and with my deepest love, [1523]

R4. 3/21/42 DREAMS submitted by Mrs. [1523]:
March 21, 1942. While I was taking an Oil (Castor) Pack. The room was banked with snow. The ceiling was weighted down with snow and snow was sticking to the top of the ceiling and banked in the corners. I did not feel cold
- but felt very drowsy - as if I could not awaken but with the knowledge that I must - the snow seemed very white.
March 22, 1942. I was driving a huge truck which was very high off the ground. I could not control it. - and seemed to be driving it all over the place trying to avoid hurting anyone. Before I could stop the truck (by removing the key or choking the motor) I met two or three large road building machines that did not give me room to pass - as a result the truck was side swiped - when I was asked about it - I pretended I didn’t know it had happened. [GD’s note: This dream is especially interesting in view of the fact that a few years later Mrs. [1523] divorced Mr. [1650] and married a man who was a road builder, with just such road building machines that she dreamed of, but whom she did not know at the time of the dream.

U.S. AIR CORPS
Hotel Royal Palm Tuesday - 1 P.M. -
Hello Beautiful,-
Your note received, contents duly noted, your instructions will be carried out to the letter. In fact I destroy all written matter upon receipt after reading of course.
During one of your sessions can you tell me how I am making out in the army. On the surface I seem to be doing pretty good, but I would still like your opinion.
By the way my title is now Sgt. and I expect to to go O.C.S. in the very near future. This Army sure offers one a host of opportunities. You can almost choose any thing you want. So naturally I am taking all the tough ones. HA - All kidding aside it is getting a little rugged now. The farther up the ladder the harder it is.
[1523], I have been thinking a lot about you lately. I wish we could have gone out together while I was on furlough but guess it is just as well so if you feel safe about it. Let me hear from you with all the news.
I want to go over seas but I have to make 1st Lt. before I can go. But if I get through O.C.S. I will make 1st Lt. in 30 days because of my age.
Best of Luck and the same old love, [2508]
P.S. Excuse writing I am late now for a combat drill and I am the N.C.O. in charge.
Sgt. [2508] 919 TSS - Royal Palm Ht. St. Petersburg, Fla.

U.S. AIR CORPS
Williams Hotel Thursday - 10 P.M.
Hello [1523]:-
Guess you think I have been travelling around quite a bit. Well I have but it seems that I am just beginning. I expect to ship over seas at any time now. I have been trying for a long time. They have started calling all of the N.C.O.’s. We had about 6 men get their orders today from my squadron, we will all go pretty soon. They may send me to O.C.S. instead. If they do I will go as an officer later on because I still want over sea service. So if you are going to send me a picture, you better hurry -
[1523], I have been thinking about you a lot lately. Don’t know exactly why. But every once in a while, I will hear or see some thing that reminds me of you. Funny isn’t it?
Tell every one that you can hello for me and write real soon.
Sincerely, [2508]
P.S. I had a swell time on my trip to Los Angeles. I was in charge of 50 men and as soon as I delivered them was on my own. I was coming back by way of Chicago & New York & Norfolk, but my friends ran low too quick. Bye Now -
R9. 3/1/43 Mr. [2508]‘s ltr. to Mrs. [1523]:
UNITED STATES ARMY
Williams Hotel, St. Pete, Fla.- Dear [1523]:-
Received the picture today sure is nice. Kind of revealing don’t you think? Just the same I will keep it always.
[1523], I am back in Fla. in a new camp. We are getting extensive training, we live in tents, no lights, water or any thing. Sure is tough, we are about 10 miles out of town, right in the woods, snakes galore, and plenty of sand and sand spurs. I am in charge of, Arctic, Desert, and Jungle warfare. Due for a promotion soon. I can’t tell you the address, because they won’t give us any. We have to come to town and get our mail. And any thing else that we have to have. So just keep on writing to me at the old address.
I don’t think it will be long now before we go some where. Sure hope my O.C.S. orders come through soon. I may hear some thing on them between now and the 15th.
Write real soon and thanks for the picture,
Sincerely, [2508]
R10. 4/8/43 See brother’s rdg. 1710-11, Par. 18-A indicating that [1523] was NOT associated with [1710] and [2803] in Palestine Old Testament incarnation but in other periods.
R11. 9/2/43 Mr. [2508]‘s ltr. to Mrs. [1523]:
Keesler Field Biloxi, Miss.
Dear [1523]:
Well here I am way down here in the deep south and I am stationed in an outpost 16 miles from the nearest town. There isn’t a house in sight for miles around but I rather like it. And yesterday one of the boys came back from furlough with a coronet and lo and behold there was a nice long article about our friend Mr. Cayce in it but of course I suppose you have seen it. If not it is entitled, The Miracle Man of Va. Beach, really a very nice story, which started me thinking about my eyes again [See 2508-1 in re his glaucoma] and wondering if Mr. Cayce would give me another reading and under the circumstances prescribe a treatment that would be possible in this location. I can get into town every other day. How about a little advice from you KID. There was also some thing else very funny that happened last night about 475 recruits came out and made camp just a short distance from where we are located and in this group was a boy who claimed to be adept at “Auto-Hypnosis,” (Is the spelling correct?). So he put on a demonstration and it was startling some of the things he did. He would just talk to a boy or some times more and put them to sleep and tell them what he wanted them to do when they woke up and be damned if they didn’t do every thing he said, and even today two of the boys made the exact score he said they would on the rifle range. Can you explain that.
Well Darling Hurry and write gotta go now.
Love, [2508]
S/Sgt. [2508] 54th. T.G. Keesler Field Miss.
R12. 9/9/43 Mrs. [1523] wrote him a very business-like ltr. answering his questions of 9/2/43.
R13. 9/15/43 Mr. [2508]‘s ltr. to Mrs. [1523]:
My Dear Mrs. [1523]:
You can write the most matter of fact, cold, Blunt, unfriendly letter at times that I have ever had the privilege to read why don’t you let your hair down an [and] live like an ordinary human being for a change. I don’t mean to be fussy and I’m not mad, but you do make me use terrible language at times.
Oh Well skip it. Sure I would like to have a copy of the reading I don’t know what I can do about it but maybe some thing, but don’t put yourself to any trouble. I know how busy you must be.
I would tell you to tell the folks hello but I suppose that would put you in a very bad position.
Has [4930] been behaving himself? Why don’t you adopt a baby of your own maybe you could find a more natural outlet for your excess energy.
Don’t take this letter to serious I suppose it comes from being alone for long periods at a time and thinking too much. Get it. THINKING.
Stay in there and keep swinging.
Sincerely, [2508]
P.S. Don’t worry about any one seeing our letters. They don’t stay around. I don’t save any letters. And lay off LAURA. And don’t believe every thing you hear. Big Ears! ha.
R14. 9/25/43 Mrs. [1523]‘s letter:
Dear [2508]:-
Both of your letters came Tuesday. Due to shortage of typewriters and time this is the first opportunity I’ve had to write. It all adds up to the fact that my work is the least urgent at present, so I’m the one without. Of course we have one at home which [1548] uses a great deal which makes it inconvenient to have - at times. I am at home now and won’t have a chance to use this one for a week or two since we are loaning it to Mr. Cayce until they can get some repair work done on one of theirs.
I find it very difficult to write to you, [2508], because there is a great deal that must go unsaid. If I write in terms of my purpose in keeping up a correspondence with you it might prove just as disturbing as - say - my last letter which seemed so matter-of-fact to you. Let me put it this way and maybe it will seem less complicated. The last time I talked with you I asked you one question - the answer is responsible for the manner in which I express myself to you by letter as well as in person. The question - I asked you was whether or not you thought I have changed - that is not physically - but rather my way of thinking - my attitude in general - remember? Your answer was “no” - and in part you were right. I would say basically that would be the correct answer for anyone. Maybe I’ve always wanted to know “why.” What with being side-tracked by emotions over which I didn’t seem to be able to control - and took what offered itself from day to day with no thought of anyone but myself and getting what I wanted - namely you. For some reason I didn’t understand at the time. I came to realize that what I had expected our married life to be - could never be. To continue with our way of life could only end up with me losing - my self-respect and eventually becoming the “goodtime Sue.” All of this I have said to you before - eh? Just leaving you was not the answer - however - for a long time I thought it was - during which period I became involved in other problems (shall I say) - with the thought, “now just what has this person to offer me?” or in short “what can I get out of this.” Needless to say that I spent quite a while trying to find my way through that bright idea
- and was definitely going to give up - this time physically too. It was then that I became interested in the Association
- first Mr. Cayce - then the Association and what it is attempting to accomplish. For four years I have not only made a study of the information that has come thru the Readings - but have tried to also put into practice the tenets or theories suggested - some of which are presented in a more advanced manner. A reflection of these ideals can be seen in the lives of many great people - many of which the church is trying to present. Primarily I have gotten the answers to my “whys.” At first it was a very slow process and at times - now - that feeling of wanting to be free to “let my hair down” comes back - yet I know “I can’t have everything” and so I usually consider more carefully the possible results before responding to the impulse of the moment. Yes, [2508], I have changed - although I don’t believe anything short of a life time would prove it - to even some of those in my own family. I have not changed against my will - rather because of my will to change.
If you would permit me to say these things to you in person (that is - without interruption) you would probably ask me - “so what has all this gotten you?” “How can you find enjoyment in these ideas that seem to restrain you so?” and I would answer you very much in this manner. I have first come to better understand myself. Secondly, I have come to understand you - probably better than you understand yourself - and eventually this understanding released me from mental and emotional torment. If I had gained nothing else - it would have been well worth this life time - but in gaining this understanding, many other things have become evident to me. The knowledge that I can only help myself through helping others. Patience - because it takes patience to help others effectively. Tolerance - for there is something about everyone that requires tolerance from others. Most important of all - an attitude of “loving indifference” in exchange for a rather intense and possessive feeling in connection with those close in association (to me). Because of these things in my life has taken on purpose and direction and with each passing month there is an added feeling of confidence because of something accomplished. Nothing I can show the world - nothing that even those close to me are aware of - but something about the way I feel inside gives me the assurance that I have made a choice that is right - at least it is right for me.
To say that this process has eliminated any feeling that I have for you would be to deny everything that I have just expressed. Rather - it has made me more aware of the many things that I came to know about through you - many things that were and are beautiful in thought and will remain so - many things that were wise - many things that prove you big in comparison - for in many ways you are a much bigger person that you will permit others to know about. This in part is due to some of the choices you have made in your daily activities. There has been a change in my feelings where you are concerned and in time I hope you may come to recognize this change to be not only for the best - but of more value and of a more lasting quality where both of us is concerned - because of that change.
Why don’t you keep this letter, [2508], and when you are in doubt about the way I feel - or about the purpose for which our paths cross from time to time whether it be in person - or through correspondence - or in thought - maybe you will come to KNOW - that there is something in what I have said
- something that will assure you that knowing me has been more purposeful than just a “chance” or “passing fancy.”
I will copy your check-physical reading the first opportunity I have to use a typewriter.
As always - I wish you good-luck and God Speed! [1523]

R18. 8/1/44 Mr. [391]‘s letter in answer to her friendly one to him while he was overseas (Mr. [391] being the one who first told [1523] about EC): “I can remember the first time I ever saw you. …[2508], […] and myself were going out to play golf one morning and stopped by your house for something and you came out… Yes, I think you must have been my ‘dream girl’ during all those years but there was always too much to keep us apart…”
R19. 11/29/44 Mrs. [1523]‘s ltr. to Mr. [849]:
“In addition to several minor problems [1650] and I have separated and this has taken quite a bit of my attention…
“Speaking of husbands, I had a card from [2508] (#1 husband) and he’s in Salt Lake City. His message - ‘Arrived Sun. A.M. …Beautiful women. Maybe I have found my element. Write! On the front is the picture of the choir and organ of the Mormon Tabernacle.
“Life is certainly interesting - my only objection is that it’s going so fast.” [GD’s note: About this time a Mr. ”[…]” was being very attentive to Mrs. [1523]; he was also getting a divorce. He was working in the vicinity on road construction (See 3/22/42 dream in Par. R2 above) and was renting a room near Mrs. [1523].]
R20. 1/5/45 Mr. [1650]‘s ltr. to Mrs. [1523], after they had been separated two months: “After talking with GD earlier this week, I expected the end would be soon, but it’s suddenness was a shock. I learned of it in Washington, Thursday but did not and could not get to Norfolk before this afternoon.
I was sorry I did not get to the services. I know you had a feeling for Mr. Cayce and his work that I could not quite understand - except that it was sincere, honest and purposeful. I was very fond of him in my own way and I think he liked me.
“I recognize your loss and I am profoundly sorry. I realize that your association with him has given you an understanding that will enable you to overcome almost anything and I believe the same spiritual fortitude will guide and protect you in whatever venture you undertake, whether or no [not] it has to do with the Association. Perhaps, [1523], a letter from me is pointless, but it is written because I think I know, now, more than anyone else except GD, just how deeply you felt toward him and his work. I know his death grieves you, and I sympathize with you.”
R21. 11/28/45 GD’s letter to Mrs. [1523]:
Hugh Lynn left yesterday for New York, going by Washington
- he was to see Austin Rice this morning - he thinks Austin is apt to come here and work with us Thank You, paying his own way, etc. I hope so. He could take over all the detail work that Harmon has been doing for the publishing company and relieve me (I’ve recently taken it over so that Harmon and June could give their full time to getting out the Nov. and Dec. Bulletins). I’ve also stencilled the last WRE, etc. I’m not going to continue doing all the bookwork on the TECPC, though, as the Ass’n needs my special “gifts” and TECPC can get by with any good clerical person.
After having H. L. go over their readings with them, Harmon is about decided to try again for Harvard. H. L. thinks he can get in, in January, if he makes the proper approach and doesn’t scare them to death by saying he wants to specialize in psychic phenomena, etc. Anyway, we’ll see. If he gets in, I’ll put it in my DL and ask the help of all the Boston members in “seeing him through” etc. They have an ad. in for the sale of the trailer but haven’t succeeded yet in selling it - he will probably have to take a loss - he’s considering it.
Oh, I must tell you that the other day while fixing lunch, who should walk in but [2508], asking for “Miss [1523].” I invited him in and he spent about thirty minutes in the kitchen with me while I was mixing up salad (and he making fun of it). He said he’d been drinking and had the courage to appear - had just come from …, by the way. I told him you’d probably be here at Xmas and for him to come by then and celebrate with us. June and Harmon came in and met him, and also Gina. They were all very glad for the opportunity to see and talk with him. He was flabbergasted to find out Harmon was a minister and that Gina was a Ph.D. He insisted that Harmon go have a beer with him - Harmon would have done it, I think, if he hadn’t been so rushed working on the Bulletin. I had on my green wool jersey which fits me skin tight, and he remarked on the fact that I had developed some curves since he saw me last - that I looked much better than when I was just a bean pole. I told him he never had really looked at me before, because you were present. He said, “Aw, don’t give me that! You know better - that’s why [1523] divorced me, because I couldn’t keep my eyes off other gals!” They all thought he was completely charming and could see how you were in love with him.
R22. 12/7/45 Mrs. [1523]‘s letter to GD:
I was quite amused with the story of [2508]‘s visit to the office. It certainly sounded just like him. How did he look? I don’t suppose he said anything about his eyes. I read your letter to ”[…]” and he got quite a laugh out of the part about [2508]. He says he’s really looking forward to meeting him some day. I suppose [2508] was up here for the game that being the occasion for his passing through…
I think that [2803] and [1710] will go to her home for Xmas, though it is not definite as yet, consequently I don’t know just what I will do - I may go with them. In any case I don’t plan to come home Xmas. […] and I are beginning to shape up our plans for the future and we will spend as much time together from now on as is possible - or in order. Gladys I have picked up some weight since I’VE been here. My face has rounded out so that I can notice it also my neck and arms. Roses have come back to my checks [cheeks] too, and it has been a long long time since I can remember having very much color in my face. I don’t plan on continuing to gain weight, however. […] has also gained weight - to be exact five pounds in one month. It is very becoming to him. I think within another year he will have gained another ten pounds. With extra weight he looks more handsome than ever. We have been going to the different churches trying to find one in which we really feel at home. So far the Presbyterian church is in the lead. They have some very lovely churches up here - you would love them Gladys. Most of the choirs have at least 25 people in them - and some of them more. We haven’t been to the Catholic church as yet but plan to go soon. In all probability we will go there for high mass - Xmas - that is if we’re here. Gladys, it snowed here Tuesday and Wednesday and since […] and [1710] [GD’s note: Mr. ”[…]” had taken [1523]‘s brother, [1710], into business with him. Mrs. [1523] thought perhaps Mr. ”[…]” had been one of her 17 husbands in the Atlantean period and the father of [1710] who had then been one of her 17 sons.] couldn’t work we tramped around in the snow - bought pop corn and nuts - went through all the ten cent stores right along with the bobby-socks crowd. It was such fun…
O, yes, I must tell you the dream I had about Mr. Cayce. It seemed that he appeared to me - though I was very conscious of his being on another plane - that is, there seemed to be a gulf between us and he seemed to be standing on a cloud so that I had to look up to him when talking with him (I imagine it was like the parable of Lazarus and Dives). He just looked grand. I asked him how he was feeling and he said fine. I asked him if I would ever see him again and he said yes, he would visit me again. I had the feeling that it wouldn’t be anytime soon, but that when he did come back again, that I would ask him to get […]‘s life reading for me. He seemed to know what I had in mind. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if I could get his reading that way?
R23. 1/11/46 “Confidentially, I’m getting a little tired of this three-dimensional set-up. Except for […] I probably would feel like changing environment.”
R24. 4/1/46 ”[…] is still his very sweet self… We’re so anxious to get things straightened out so that we can really begin our lives together… It’s so wonderful to have someone with whom you can plan and talk even if there is a difference of opinion. Imagine what an experience that is for me, Gladys - after eight years with [1650] during which time I could hardly express an everyday thought.”
R25. 3/1/47 Mr. [1650] wrote [1523] describing the beauties of Hawaii. His letter began: “I am sure you will agree that the period where, or during which, correspondence between us would be looked upon with a jaundiced eye has passed and, further, the physical separation by about six thousand miles of land and water would temper any implication that might be assumed. Intuitively, and woman-like, you know that I have thought about you and I hope you have felt that they were thoughts of increasing respect and admiration and concern only with your well-being.”
R26. 3/20/47 Mrs. [1523], sending above letter from [1650], wrote also: “By the bye - [2508]‘s wife is pregnant again. Maybe they will have better luck this time…
“Things between [2803] [brother [1710]‘s wife] and myself aren’t at their best just now. Isn’t it strange, Gladys, (or is it?) that everyone I’ve taken special pains to help has turned around and thrown it back into my face - with the exception of [3479] [another sister-in-law, [4930]‘s wife]. Thank goodness I learned (through the Ass’n) not to hold malice, resentments, etc., or I would be in a fix, eh? Karma can present itself at the most unexpected times - and usually when one thinks that everything has been figured out.”
R27. 11/24/47 “Everything is going very nicely with both […] and me - as a matter of fact he surprised me with bringing me a car - which is to be my very own. 1946 Dodge club coupe - just the style I would have chosen above any other. That will be my birthday, Xmas and wedding present - for it won’t be long now before the latter will take place.”
R28. 1/15/48 How about the enclosure for the [2508] file! Did I tell you that last year when I was in the mountains, I dreamed that [2508] came to me and said that he didn’t want to have a child unless I would be the mother of it. I talked with him and explained that he should fulfill his life in every way with someone else, that our lives could not again be shared in this incarnation. I told him that he would have a child - or I should say - I told him that he would become a father - he turned and went away - apparently not wanting to go.
The enclosure - announcing the birth [9/19/47] of their son, […] - was sent to me by [3479]. The night before it arrived, I dreamed that I talked with him again, and told him that his child would be born in the month of November, but that I didn’t know whether it would be a boy or girl. The dream was very vivid, so you can imagine how I felt when I opened [3479]‘s letter, to find the enclosure - the very next day - morning to be exact - before nine. It is so seldom that he ever crosses my mind, it struck me as being very strange that I should dream about him at all. The last time I dreamed about [1650] - it was a night mare - I dreamed that he was trying to - to put it delicately - “take advantage of me” - and I was begging him please not to put his hands on me. Ain’t that something. Gosh, this sounds as though I dream about [1650] frequently. When in fact I don’t. About twice in the last year, I guess - I can’t remember.
R29. 5/26/48 GD’s memo to [1523]:
Extract from Encyclopedia Britannica 11th edition under the title CONTI, Princes of:
“Louis Armand de Bourbon, prince de Conti (1661-1685), eldest son of the preceding [Armand de Bourbon, 2nd son of Henry II of Bourbon, prince of Conde, and brother of Louis, the great Conde], succeeded his father in 1666, and in 1680 married MARIE ANNE, A DAUGHTER OF LOUIS XIV, AND LOUISE DE LA VALLIERE.”
5/26/48 Note to Mrs. [1523] by GD: [1523], finding that Joseph le Conde was born May 13th, being listed as the famous man born on that day, we looked him up in order to see what type of person had the same birthday as little Gregory Cayce (Hugh Lynn’s new son). In tracing down the information I came across the above information. I thought it was especially interesting since, in 340-15, 10/17/31, her life reading, the indication was given that her name was Conde back in France a long time ago and that it was the origin of the CAYCE family.
R30. 9/14/48 She wrote of her pledge to the E.C.F. campaign for funds, then her mental turmoil: “Numbers of things have been literally forced to my attention - the change is inevitable - of that I feel certain now [break with Mr. ”[…]”?]. The time is fairly short, I believe - and of course everything points to my returning home, though my heart is heavy, and my body oh so tired from the continuous conflict of mind and spirit - for the past days, and days and days… I am sick with disappointment… It is a bitter experience to take the backwash from three incarnations - Dearborn, France and Atlantis. Perhaps [2803]‘s contribution is a blessing in disguise, but it does not lessen the hurt - just now. May God forgive her that I too may be forgiven. I have thought of asking to be put on the prayer list, but so much of the time I find it difficult to pray for myself, for in my turmoil all that I seem to be able to do is to repeat over and over, ‘God help me.’ There is really no one to blame, except myself - as I so well know. Now that the full force is upon me, my own weakness is so appalling as to drain me of physical strength, for I now weigh only 119 lbs., though I am taking vitamins and forcing myself to eat.” [GD’s note: Evidently the situation cleared, because no further details are revealed in her subsequent correspondence.] [See Health report under 1523-17.]
R31. 6/9/49 She wrote of her marriage to Mr. ”[…]” and gave their new address.
R32. 7/26/49 So Tom Sugrue is in D.C. now - be a good time to tap [1650] for a donation. I heard when I was home - through [4732] that [1650] called Minnie Doyle to tell her all about his new wife. Isn’t that amazing? All the people he objected to my seeing - he has made it a point to seek out since we separated. He probably doesn’t understand why he has the urge to behave thusly himself. I understand that his new wife is a red-head (as was his first) - and some older than he, - what ever age that would be. He is still with the government, making a nice salary, and should be ripe for a nice touch. Hugh Lynn could handle it very, very nicely, I’m sure. [1277] tells me that he is in the Pentagon building - and no doubt he can be gotten by phone, via information, if not listed. Speaking of my X’s - [2508] is living in … (somewhere - new section - [3479] tells me). The son produced of that union is a duplicate of [2508] even at this early age, which pleases [2508] no end, naturally. Seems as though [2508] has quieted down considerably, his wife being quite some younger than he is, would prefer a bit more activity. Seems as though [2508] is on the road for the Ford Company, and made it a point to call on [2385] twice while in … Could be he would consider a donation if properly approached, and by the right person. He should, the rascal.
R33. 7/27/50 [2508] had spent the night with [4930] and [3479], and was on his way back to … where he now has a Ford dealer-ship - married for the third time, - a son almost three years old. We must have talked for an hour and a half. Reviewing his venture in the army of World War Two
- saying he wished he were young enough to get into the army again, that he just loved it. Had complete freedom while in the service, getting away with many things, ignoring restrictions, etc. Was stationed in St. Petersburg, Fla. - and that was his favorite spot - didn’t like Miami Beach, though thought it very beautiful. Said that he no longer cared about women - that his wife […] - though a very nice girl - well, he just didn’t care about her either. Seemed to be interested in occasional conquests. Commented
- “I’m just common, [1523], I just can’t help it.” Invited me to have a drink with him - he’d buy me a bathing suit - and we’d go swimming. No interest in present husband, just wondered if […] knew him - Spoke of [1650], and remarked that he would not trust that so and so - that he was no friend of mine, and thought he should be investigated for communism [[1650] now in D.C., Pentagon Bldg.].
Recently elected president of Lions Club; doing very well in business - very much elated about his work - completely wrapped up in his son.
Remarked that “Anything that doesn’t come easy to me, I can’t mess with - it brings my head hurt to think - or try to think.” Is going to bring his son by for me to see - says he is a perfect physical specimen. [See also 2508-1 Reports.]
R34. GD’s note: Contrary to the advice of the reading, Mrs. [1523] returned to live in close proximity to her parents. I think she felt a sense of duty and responsibility. See Reports in parents’ files ([1541] and [2051]) on how she nursed them through illness and subsequent death - 1957-1964 - a seven year period of servitude. Out of it, she says, has come a better understanding and a fine relationship between her sister, [1548], and herself. In fact, in talking with [1548] one day she told me that she considered [1523] an angel, no less.
R35. See 11/2/62 and 2/21/64 dreams of [1523] (below) predicting her parents’ death.
November 2, 1962, early Friday morning I had the following dream:
My dog “Fang” and I were walking across the yard in front of my home at … I noticed that where I have a row of myrtles there was a brick wall, one that I could see over
- about four and one-half feet high. Fang and I walked on the outside of the wall and turned toward the west. As we walked parallel with the wall, I noticed at the center a niche in which there was a rabbit - a mother rabbit. She was dead and her body was stiff, yet there were three baby rabbits trying to nurse and I knew that the only reason the rabbit was staying in place in the niche was the fact that the baby rabbits were trying to get food. The lower part of the mother rabbit was exposed and the organs could be seen. The stomach of the rabbit was hanging from the mouth. Fang ran toward the rabbit barking and started to attack the rabbit family, but when I commanded him to do so he stopped short of disturbing them. I walked over to the niche, picked up the three baby rabbits and when I took them in my hand they turned to small white balls of fur and they were as light as a feather.
When I awakened from this dream my skin was tingling. I couldn’t say I was shocked, but I couldn’t get the dream off my mind. Finally on the third day I figured out what the dream meant; specifically - that my father would pass on in either 3 days from the time of the dream, and it couldn’t be that for we were already in the third day - or 3 weeks or 3 months. I reasoned that he could not stay 3 months, and decided that 3 weeks would be the time the dream indicated.
- The myrtle which my father had helped plant - was now a brick wall. (crystallization & civilization moves westward)
- The mother rabbit’s body pictured the condition of my father’s physical body.
- The mother rabbits body also indicated to me that the passing would be quick.
- The stomach hanging from the mouth of the rabbit indicated that the physical break-down would come at the esophagus, cutting of the air, thereby the quick passing. (This happened) [11/22/62]
- The three baby rabbits symbolized the birth into (and from) the spiritual - (from the earth plane).
- The three baby rabbits also indicated the time element of passing and the quick passing.
My father passed on just three weeks from the date of the dream, Thanksgiving, 22nd of November, 1962. The death certificate was made to read heart failure. Actually the doctors had pronounced his condition cancer, three years previous. [See other Reports on 2051-7.]
On November 12 I told our business mgr. that according to my dream I would be out of the office for two weeks. That
my father would pass on Thanksgiving Day. I returned to work November 26 - just two weeks from the day I had taken leave. I told three other people when to expect my father’s passing: my sister [1548], my niece [2695], and Mrs. Beverly Hall - a friend who lives at Va. Beach.
2/21/64 Dream of [1523]:
I dreamed that I was out back of my home at … with a few members of the family. I saw this man coming around the corner of the house toward us and as he came in full view I recognized him to be my father. I said, “Oh, there’s Papa”
- the others said, “No it isn’t” - they didn’t recognize him at first. I ran to him, threw my arms around him and told him how much I love him and how much I miss him (my emotion did not seem to effect him). In a moment, he said, “I’m going fishing and when I come back I’ll take Mama with me” As he said this, I knew he would be going deep-sea fishing. The dream awakened me and I was crying and my face was wet with tears.
Note: Rarely ever was I demonstrative with my mother and dad, and never to the extent that I was in the dream.
Never in this life time did I know my father to go fishing.
I consider the symbols in the above dream to be significant. Perhaps this is the first in a series of dreams to prepare me for the time of my mother’s passing.
R36. 9/24/64 Her mother died - see details under [1541] series.
R37. 9/16/67 Her beloved brother [1710] died suddenly of a heart attack.
R38. 9/6/69 Her brother [4930] died suddenly of a heart attack.
R39. 1/22/70 She reported: “My ex-husband [2508] died at 10:30 this a.m. in a hospital at …, N.C., where he had been for two weeks or more. He had given up, and when they tried to give him intravenous feeding - he would remove the needles, etc. Even though he was quite broken physically, this indicated something that was so much a part of his attitude with regard to many other things in his life. Probably had an aversion to needles anyhow, from his past incarnation in France.”
