This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of February, 1944, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [5037], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:05 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern War Time. Ontario, Canada.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes. Here we have quite a disturbance with this body, [3676]. This is of a karmic nature. It is as much or more for those responsible for the body, as well as for the learning of patience by the body itself.

3. The auditory forces and all of the organs of the sensory system are involved. These are partly karmic, partly prenatal, and partly what might be called elemental forces; not elemental forces in the nature of earthbound, but elemental in the sense of the spiritual manifestations toward materiality. Thus the treatments here would be best given by the mother; that is, in the present circumstance.

4. Use the low electrical vibrations from the Wet Cell Appliance carrying into the system vibratorially the properties of Chloride of Gold to build nerve energy and coordinate the relations of the cerebrospinal, sympathetic and the sensory organism. The proportions would be one grain Chloride of Gold Sodium, to each ounce of distilled water and use three ounces of the Solutions for each charge; renewing the Solution every fifteen days.

5. Every thirty days renew the charge for the Appliance.

6. The small plate would be attached to three different centers alternately. The Appliance would be used for thirty minutes each day; one day attaching the small plate to the 3rd cervical, the next day to the 9th dorsal, and the next day to the 4th lumbar. Be sure to rotate the attachments in this order.

7. These are the three centers through which there is activity of the kundalini forces that act as suggestions to the spiritual forces for distribution through the seven centers of the body.

8. The large plate, through which the Gold Solution passes vibratorially, would be attached to the lacteal duct and umbilical center, which on this body, would be the width of two fingers, the mother’s fingers, from the naval center towards the right, and one finger up from that point.

9. Do keep the attachment plates clean and do remove the connections from the Solution when not in use and connect at least twenty minutes before it is applied to the body.

10. Use that period for suggestions to the body. Though there may not be the hearing, there may not be the perfect vision, there may not be the normal taste, the normal voice, we find that the soul, the entity, the subconscious, the unconscious and the superconsciousness will respond - by the continual drum of the suggestion given. Use the mother’s own words, but this as the purpose of such a prayer or suggestion:

R11. 12/3/48 Mother [5037]‘s letter: ”…I had some unusual talks with teachers, principal, house mother, etc. They have tried to instill disbelief in my son regarding hearing. …I did feel very sorry that the teacher returned the book There is a River. …The principle gave me a half-hour of her valuable time. She said that she could not go along in my thought but if I took him from the school and gave the treatments she would cooperate to that extent. Then she gave me a long story of a girl who believed and was not healed. She went to great length to prepare me for the failure she felt I would finally realize… I think you will be interested to know that [3676] is working especially hard at school. Since we all are praying for him it is wonderful to see how much he is improving and how hard he is working. His ability as a actor gave much entertainment in … I am pleased with his progress. I am still searching for the way to give the treatments - shall have three weeks at Christmas.”

I shall be so glad to have your constructive thoughts in regard to my son as I work on him this winter…”

R17. 12/5/50 Mother [5037]‘s letter: ”…The Lord opened a way for me to give the treatments to my son. Oh, how happy I am. He has gained 25 pounds, grown several inches taller and tells me that he feels better than he ever felt. I am thrilled beyond words. If I succeed in this, the possibilities are unlimited. The glory of the last Congress and your kindness to me still fills my soul with happiness. My son has a fondness for Virginia Beach. Today he took ‘Am I My Brother’s Keeper’ to school…”

R18. 1/10/51 Excerpt from newspaper in …, Alabama: (Caption under photograph): “THEY DEMONSTRATE SPEECH TECHNIC; Mrs. W. I. L. teacher at the Junior League Speech Hearing Center, scene of a demonstration for board members yesterday, works with [3676] and […]. Both boys have hearing impairment and with hearing aids, are practicing words whose actual sounds they have never clearly heard…”

R19. 8/11/51 Mother [5037]‘s letter: ”…I took my son to …, Tenn. to Oral Roberts. My son received a little hearing from his unusual ability to let the Power flow through my son. Oral Roberts had healed many cases that night and was tired. He said that the reason he could not completely heal my son was because Jesus was perfect and he was not. I had given the treatments to my son all winter so perhaps he was ready for that much hearing. My son was so happy and loved Oral Roberts…”

R20. 4/19/52 Mother [5037]‘s letter: ”…My son is a big boy now and so much better and different…”

R21. 12/59 His mother, Mrs. [5037], wrote that [3676] was now married to a lovely deaf-mute girl, that [3676] had been trained in a deaf-mute school for a vocation as an automobile mechanic.

R22. 12/61 Mother wrote that [3676]‘s wife had just given birth to a second child; both children normal in hearing and speech.

R23. 8/9/68 Mother wrote that [3676] was now married to a second wife, also a deaf-mute, and that they had a baby girl perfectly normal in hearing and speech. [She also spoke of [3676] being addicted to drink, although he was very religious and spiritual-minded, having been brought up in Seventh Day Adventist schools.]

R24. 10/14/69 Mother wrote: “[3676] has cirrhosis of the liver. The doctors said he had to spend 12-15 hours a day in bed.”

R25. 5/31/70 Mother [5037] wrote that [3676] had died on 5/15/70: “[3676] stopped drinking instantly and stopped smoking instantly. He took up the Bible and read it day and night, wrote letters about it - changed in all ways as those who are, as they say, ‘born again.’

“Of course, if he had kept on with the treatments outlined in his rdg. the glory of hearing would have been his, but it’s difficult to live in this world where most people do not believe…

“[3676] became such a good boy, so thoughtful and kind to me

• always doing nice things for me, loving me, saying he would go crazy if anything happened to me. He felt that I could save him now. He wanted to live so badly. His minister saw him every other day and was so sweet to him. It came as a terrible shock to all of us. Maybe the Lord took him out of deafness into a greater experience, since he had become so religious and so good to all. Of course, that made him become most loved by all of his family and hard to part with him.”

He has been deaf for a number of years and perhaps almost deaf since birth but I do not believe entirely so. It is my earnest desire to have a reading for him. “Despite entire discouragement from doctors, family and friends I have felt that I would find the way for my son. I feel that I am now to find it thru you…

“In my search for a method of obtaining hearing for my son I became completely absorbed in religious study, for the pure desire to know and to try to live it and then to help others…”

B4. 10/27/43 Mother [5037]‘s letter: ”…I have been so full of interest in regard to the Bible and philosophy and now I feel myself focusing everything toward [3676].

“I have not been trying all sorts of things but I have been to good medical authorities. I have had diagnosis in Los Angeles by Chiropractors who gave hope and told me what they called the cause and said that time was an element in solving the trouble. If your diagnosis checked with theirs no one could stop me from following out these treatments.

“Even my family would not believe and have almost divorced me for my continued hope and mostly for my interest in religious subjects. I have never been able to understand this attitude. I have never been silly about it. My friends have all noticed the new manifestation within me which sincere interest in philosophy will naturally bring about.

“However, no matter how much they admire and like my new attitudes there is lack of faith and belief regarding my son. Poor little boy has to be buffetted about while all this harangue goes on about his trouble and treatment…”

B5. 11/12/43 Mother [5037]‘s letter: ”…In the past month my son has had the measles, just recovered and now they write that he is in hospital with chicken pox. Something tells me I shall lose him if I leave him there this winter.

“Mr. Cayce, so very very much depends upon the outcome of this boy’s case. I am honestly not very selfish. If there occurs any possible way to help him now I wish we could. I feel I must take him some place.

“The eyes of so many people are upon me in pity for my ‘ignorant belief’ to their minds. I know he can be made well. But just now in the cold and his present environment he is rapidly going down hill…”

B6. 2/15/44 Mother [5037]‘s letter: ”…How shall I go about it to obtain my son’s hearing? Where shall he take treatments? If possible I should like the name of a doctor in Los Angeles, Calif., to whom he should go. Where is it best for him to live? How long has he been deaf? What caused his deafness?…” [Mother later said she felt sure he could hear as a baby; that deafness came from a high fever, infection.]
