This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 30th day of June, 1933, in accordance with request made by the daughter, Mrs. [313], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis, L. B. Cayce.]
At home, 6 miles Time of Reading northwest of 3:25 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, [368]; we have the body here, [368].
-
Now, as we find, there are some conditions that disturb the body that may be materially aided.
-
The general debilitations, as we find, are from toxic forces that disturb the body from the lack of eliminations in the proper sense or way or manner.
-
The effects that are produced upon the sensory organs - as indicated in the sight, the hearing, the speech, the inability at times to control the movements of the hands (as trembling), the full feeling that occurs around the heart [thrombosis?] - ALL are rather reflex.
-
With the correction of the sources of supply from assimilation to the recuperative forces in system, the body will not only be ridded of many of those things that disturb but there will be a better physical reaction throughout the system.
-
The BLOOD SUPPLY indicates how there is a combination of disturbances in the circulation, in the assimilation and in the distribution of that assimilated. The slowing up of the pulsation, the variation in the metabolism of the body - or in the pressure, temperature and activities in the circulatory system - as indicated, are the general disturbance; while those things of the more specific natures, as indicated, are also rather the effects than those affecting the organs that produce disturbance.
-
Hence, with the resuscitations established, and a better elimination established, we would find a great improvement in the general mien and manner of the body, [368].
-
In the beginning, then, we would first, in this surrounding and environ, be very mindful as to the diet; and through these periods of such extreme weather, through the periods of dizziness that comes from the disturbances in system, the diet should be inclined to be rather light, though wholesome, efficient in keeping the strength for the body - see?
-
To be sure, the diet may be altered to meet the needs or the convenience of the body, but we would give this as an outline:
-
Mornings - rather toast, coffee, eggs - these should be coddled, and preferably none of the white of the egg taken, rather the yolk these coddled or soft boiled.
-
Cereals with fruit or berries; and a little sweets at times.
-
Noons - preferably soups, broths; not necessarily hot, these may be served chilled, with little wafers, tea or coffee. At other times there may be a meal of whole green vegetables, as lettuce, celery, tomatos and the like. These will necessarily be changed at times, but there should be through the noon portion of the day that which will be COOL to the whole system, not heating the body.
-
Evenings - well cooked vegetables, but not too much grease; these may be seasoned well, but they should not be cooked in or with hog meat or of that nature. Little meat, IF ANY, should be taken. Rather the ORGANS of the beef than the beef, as the liver, the heart, tripe, or the like, rather than any of those that will make for heaviness to the stomach.
-
Then, as a tonic, we would prepare this:
To 1 gallon and a half of rain water, or distilled water, add - in the order named - the following:
Wild Cherry Bark…2 ounces, Sarsaparilla Root…1 ounce, Yellow Dock Root…1/2 ounce, Burdock Root…1/2 ounce, Prickly Ash Bark…1/2 ounce, Elder Flower…2 ounces.
-
Reduce this by slow simmering to 1 quart. Strain off. Cut 3 drams Balsam of Tolu in 3 ounces of pure grain alcohol and add to the solution add 1 grain of Podophyllum (dried); stirring in well. Then add to the other solution.
-
Shake well before the dose is taken, which would be a teaspoonful before each meal.
-
For those conditions in the head, neck, tendency for the stiffness in the extremities at times, we would use each evening the electrically driven vibrator over the cerebro-spinal system, especially in the upper dorsal area and throughout the cervical region, extending over the arms, shoulders, chest and head - see? This treatment should comprise at least ten minutes each evening.
-
Also, every evening when ready for retiring, we would take 5 minims of Atomidine for the STRENGTHENING of the blood supply and aiding in the eliminations that will be produced through the use of the tonic given.
-
It would be well that at least once each week, or whenever there is felt the fullness in the system, to take a high enema. In each gallon of water used, add a level teaspoonful of salt with one and one-half level teaspoonful of baking soda.
-
In the last water used in cleansing, put - in the last quart - a teaspoonful of Glyco-Thymoline, as an intestinal antiseptic.
-
Do these, and we will find much improvements, the body feeling nearer normal, improvement to the hearing, to the eyesight, more tendency for the quiet, less nervous, better digestion, less headache, more sure footedness.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/19/33 Daughter [313]‘s ltr. to EC: “Papa is taking both medicines and I am expecting great results soon. There isn’t any way for me to use the vibrator out here in the country, unless you know of some kind of battery that could be gotten. I can’t give him the right kind of diet as don’t get to town often and only have ice now and then. It is just about impossible to have the fresh organs of the cow. We have a muddy road between us and town half the time.”
R2. 7/31/33 EC’s letter: “It is possible to obtain a battery that will run the vibrator, even where you haven’t electricity in the home. This I’m sure you will be able to find in B’ham, possibly at the Green Drug Co. or the B’ham Bicycle & Arms Co. Either of these can, at least, tell you where you might obtain it.”
R3. 8/13/33 Mrs. [313]‘s husband Mr. [228]‘s letter:
“Before writing to Birmingham about the vibrator battery and the vibrator we are going to inquire down here [in Fla.] to see if obtainable, in the case of Mr. [368].
“Before taking the medicine you prescribed he was having from two to three spells a day, lasting from fifteen to thirty minutes each. After taking the medicine two weeks he was only having one a day and that only lasting five to ten minutes upon retiring at night. He is still suffering somewhat from constipation. It has been two weeks since hearing from him.”
R4. 10/23/33 See 368-2, referring to his condition as being one of hypertension, cirrhosis of liver, etc.
