This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of April, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [370], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:10 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Enquiring mind. You will answer the questions he has submitted regards his associations with Prince and others regarding a defrosting solution they have patents on, also about its sale and distribution.)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [370]; this we have had before.

2. As to the associations and connections with Prince and associates, that have invested in the undertaking:

3. Before there is the allowing of Prince or others to go to those who would finance the manufacture or distribution of same, have those - in whom the body, [370], has, and has reasons to have, the utmost confidence - to examine the patents; what they cover, to whom they are made, and the manner of the distribution of profits from the sale of or royalties on the solution itself.

4. This as we find offers such revolutionary ideas in these undertakings that there must be then these precautions. Not that there is the questioning of anyone at present in association with the body. But once it is out of the hands of the present investors, what is their recourse as to the manufacture and sale of such solutions?

5. All of these things should be considered in the beginning.

7. (Q) Is the proposed trade through Mr. Prince’s attorneys the best trade for all concerned? (A) As indicated, this will be well provided there are no loopholes held, or allowable, where the present investors may be frozen out by the lack of sufficient experimentation in the various fields of activity through which the product is to be distributed, and thus through the organization and the owning of the patents eliminate those present investors.

8. (Q) Should some other agency be sought for distribution? (A) Not necessarily, provided there are all these protections in the agreements before there are any contracts or agreements entered into for the furnishing of capital for manufacture or distribution.

9. (Q) What is the wisest course for those who have invested to pursue in the matter? (A) As just indicated. Have those as given investigate and arrange before such that it will be an impractical thing to allow those thus investing for royalty rights to eliminate them from their holdings.

R1. 5/6/38 Letter from Mr. [370] to EC:

…, Ala.

My dear Mr. Cayce; -

Your letter and reading concerning the patented (or solution for which patents are applied for) and in which myself and a few friends had become interested, were received today (some six days after date of reading). In the same mail this evening was a special delivery air mail letter from Mr. Frank M. Prince now in Washington to promote the interest in these patents.

Your letter and reading aroused me into much activity. I proceeded after office hours to the office of Attorney H. L. Anderton who is interested and in whom I have confidence, to gain his support and advice and see his reactions. Also went to home of F. I. Tarrant for the same purpose.

My reactions after reading the information were that something should be done at once to carry out the investigations suggested and is in the reading. I find the two I interviewed of the same opinions.

The one important question above all others in the reading and set out in the beginning of it is designating the one in whom I have the “utmost confidence” in an important and perhaps for some a difficult mission. Such a one “to examine the patents; what they cover, to whom they are made, and the manner of the distribution of profits from the sale of or royalties on the solution itself.” There is but one clear answer to this question in my mind and that is that I place “utmost confidence” in Edgar Cayce to do this for me and I believe you are the only one that can handle this difficult job in which so much is involved, sucessfully and thoroughly. I believe there is millions involved coming to those that have invested in royalties. In you I gladly invest the power of attorney to proceed. You could examine the patents - find what they cover - and to whom they are made and the manner of the distribution of profits from the sales of or royalties on the solution itself, also the way to safeguard the investors - this all can best be answered by the “Information.” When you have done this you are at liberty to send anyone you may designate to Washington or name anyone you please in Washington to do what ever you find necessary to do. Hugh Lynn’s name comes to my mind in whom I would entrust my interests along with you.

The reading indicates to me that something should be done and done NOW. The attorneys in Washington that made application for the patent were Brown & Hewitt. I will try to get the number of the patent from Mr. Anderton tomorrow and give it to you. I think you will want to analyze the formula and find the weak places in it or to find if it is complete or what additional protection it needs in patents.

The value of this patent to manufacturer and distributor has been quoted to us in many millions. That the value to the ones Mr. Prince has promised 1% is one million or more.

I am convinced that there is a possibility of serving a great good in this undertaking. I want you to instruct me what I can do to help either by reading or your own instructions.

The name of our investor is Frank M. PRINCE not (Price).

I shall await your further advice with interest.

Brown and Hewitt are at 850 Munsey Bldg. Washington.

Mr. Prince’s nephew is a lawyer in same building as Brown and Hewitt, and he calls him Darium Prince who is interested also in the work on placing the solution for sale.

R3. 5/9/38 EC’s ltr. to [257]:

”…Had a big proposition put up to me today - wish I could have you handle it, yet I know it is out of your line. Passed it on to someone whom I think can handle it - hope it will work out all o.k. A fellow has worked out a solution for the preventing of ice forming on planes. Will even keep ice from forming round ice boxes and having to defrost them - he has patent on same - ought to work out something fine…”

R5. 6/30/38 EC’s ltr. to [257]:

”…There is a group of men in Birmingham that have a formula or something they are going to demonstrate at your market there - has to do with refrigeration. Am going to suggest to some of them who have come to me several times to handle it - that they put it in your hands to handle there - think you met this man once - [Mr. [370]], of Birmingham - it is a thing that if it works as they think it will - it will involve millions. I haven’t the time, and as you know the ability even to do anything about it. Will ask [370] to give you the entire detail about it. A wonderful opportunity if they have what they think they have…”

R6. 7/11/38 Letter to Mr. [370] from C. A. Rice:

Dear Mr. [370]:

I have talked to Mr. Darium Prince, Attorney, a couple of times, and today I saw Mr. Prince the inventor. He and Mr. Arbuckle stopped into see me. The demonstration of which you spoke is to be given a little later at New York City, not at Washington.

I explained that you had suggested perhaps in some way I might render some assistance. He seemed very appreciative, and said that it was his purpose to use the greatest precautions in drawing up a protective and valid contract, if and when he is able to negotiate s satisfactory sale. Said that before he signed up it was his intention to have the draft examined by one or more attorneys in both Washington and Birmingham. He volunteered to send a copy to me to look over before it is executed, and of course I shall be glad to do so.

Am leaving Washington tomorrow for a 3-week business trip into the northwest. Expect to be here first week in August, and THEN away again for about three weeks. For this reason I am sending you by registered mail your valuable papers, together with the Reading sent you by Mr. Cayce. When I start on a trip, I always hope to get back safe and sound, but accidents are common and one never knows. To be on the safe side I am returning your valuables before leaving.

If I learn something further about the matter in the future, will be glad to communicate with you.

Am mailing a copy of this letter to Mr. Cayce as matter of information.

B2. 4/22/38 “I am urged to write this letter to convey to you my recent business interest that in recent days is gripping me more and more as a means of earning large incomes even with the portion I have in the same… I have been drawn into contact with this endeavor through Dr. Felix I. Tarrant, formerly my associate and reliance in the oil discovery business of a few yrs. ago [370-1 & 2?].

“One Mr. Frank M. Prince has connected himself with Dr. Tarrant and myself to find means to acquire a patent and necessary living expenses while negotiating a contract with a nat’l or internat’l corporation to produce this product and sell it on a royalty basis. The method suggested and now being used for the temporary financing of Mr. Prince is by selling or assigning to various individuals a percentage of this royalty at the rate of 1% for each $250.00, and more than 1/4 of the royalty has been disposed of. I believe enough has been disposed of, or in process of being sold, to finance Mr. Prince’s trip to D.C. early next wk. where he will begin negotiations for a sale to a N.Y. syndicate that is reported to be very much interested in marketing this product to the internat’l trade, and who have already been contacted by Brown, Phelps and Jewett who are Mr. Prince’s patent attorneys.

“This product is a chemical solution that prevents ice from forming on any substance, and such as automobiles, airplanes, munition dumps, ship sails, cloth, metal and wood, refrigerator coils, etc. This substance is odorless, harmless and transparent.

“Large figures have been quoted for the purchase of this patent in the form of both bonus at time of purchase and also in addition royalty per gallons produced.

“There are a number of questions of interest that might be asked pertaining to this sale. Some that would be considered arising from curiosity. I am interested, of course, to know that the few friends I have interested in this endeavor get what they are justly due or what they have reason to believe is due them. Whether or not the proposed trade through Mr. Prince’s attorneys is the best trade for all concerned. Should some other agency be sought to make this distribution? On the whole what is the wisest course for Mr. Prince to pursue? What is the wisest course for those that invested in the royalty to pursue? What is the wisest course for me to pursue? and also what is the most profitable course to pursue for all of us?”
