This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 18th day of August, 1933, in accordance with request made by the son, Mr. […] (also by the brother), Mr. […], through Mr. [391]), new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. [394]”s son [1 of her 6 children] and [391], Mildred Davis, and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 3:30 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ala. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [394].
-
Now, as we find, those conditions that disturb the better physical forces of the body are rather of the complex nature. For, there are both causes and effects that must be considered in giving or bringing any relief for the body.
-
Many of the disturbing conditions have been of long standing; hence have become of such a nature that the system has adjusted itself to the disorders.
-
Hence, in bringing relief or resuscitating forces to the system, all of these conditions must be taken into consideration. For, many have reached the proportions where not only the physical body but the mental body is also affected.
-
These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [394] we are speaking of:
-
We find the BLOOD SUPPLY very low in vitality, and while the circulations become disturbed - the ability in the circulation to carry on through a strong heart action has oft saved the body from disintegration.
-
There needs to be assimilated in this portion, then, that which - with the strong heart’s activity - will build resuscitating plasm through the circulatory system.
-
The NERVE SYSTEM, as we find, has reached such a condition that at times it has become almost exhausted. Hence there are periods when there is not in any way near the normal reaction from the administrated forces or powers; or that reaction which might be expected to be the result from the administration of active principles within the system.
-
Hence little medicine, as medicine, is effective; only palliatives, sedatives or hypnotics, and THESE at times lose their effectiveness in the system.
-
What, then, are the causes in the physical functionings? Are the organs so involved in their functioning, or have such inroads been made, as to cause organic conditions? or are the conditions of a general or a constitutional nature, with all of the organs working at variance one to another?
-
All of these, and more; for, as seen, there has long been a disturbance in the sensory organism wherein the auditory forces have been affected. And in periods back there was such a plethora condition in the organs of the pelvis, in the activities of the assimilating system, as to necessitate the removal of portions of the organs themselves. Thus we have had an inroad into the effectual activity of the nerve forces in the action OF organs, and in the creation of resuscitating forces in the system, until - working under the strain and stress of adhesions and lesions - little of a normal activity in digestion; surfeiting of the system, in relation to assimilations through the body, has been poor.
-
Hence a general debilitation has set in throughout the system, so that all of the organs are effected; not in the manner as of organic disturbances, other than in their abilities to create the proper functionings of their respective cycle of activity in the body. Hence the conditions in the present.
-
Then, in meeting the conditions, as we find, the addition of certain forces that will work with the activities of the body may bring a much nearer normal force for the ability of the system to respond and become nearer in the way of distributing the necessary resuscitating forces throughout the system.
-
One necessary factor, then, as we would find, would be in creating more oxygen, as released in the system, as to revivify the activity of the circulations (blood supply) in their relationships to the organs that function not only for the creating of necessary plasm for giving physical reaction in the body (in life forces) but that will aid in STRENGTHENING the resistances in the system.
-
This, as we find, may be materially aided by the addition of small quantities of carbonated or carbon ash in the system; given one-eighth grain each day, and - to produce or make a better activity of the same - thirty minutes after the dose is given we would apply the plain violet ray vibrations over the portions of the body where assimilations would be created, for the activity of the ash to the blood supply. Hence, it would be applied over the upper dorsal and the cervical area, or the cardiac and secondary cardiac area. Then it would be applied from the 9th and 10th dorsal area to the 3rd and 4th lumbar area.
-
We would also find that it would be MOST beneficial, in supplying the necessary vitality, to add the active forces of low electrical vibrations that will carry into the system elements to create a better coordination in the nerve impulses to the system, that add to the sustaining forces in the activity of the GLANDS themselves. These we would give in the wet cell battery formation, and using those anodes that carry medicinal properties - THROUGH the low vibration - into the system; in three characters, that would be given in rotation day by day.
-
One would carry the Chloride of Gold solution. In attaching the battery to the body for this particular activity, we would attach FIRST the anode WITHOUT the medicinal properties to the body at the 3rd and 4th dorsal segment or plexus of the system - and the larger plate carrying the Gold solution (1 grain to 1 ounce of water, or 15 grains to 15 ounces of distilled water, using about 4 ounces in the solution) would be attached to the plexus over the umbilicii center, but more over the lacteal ducts or glands. The period of application would be for thirty minutes.
-
The next day use a different connection but the same battery. The same plain or positive connections would be attached at the base of the brain, and the other - carrying Spirits of Camphor - would be attached to the 4th lumbar plexus area, see? This would be applied for a period of thirty minutes also.
-
The next day use a different solution (not in same containers, to be sure, but using the same battery - or activity of the vibrations). The first anode would be attached to the center entering into the stomach itself, or the cardiac center of the stomach, or cardiac end of stomach, see? and the other plate or anode, carrying Atomidine in solution, would be attached at the 9th dorsal plexus - or that which distributes through the whole of the solar plexus area. Apply this for thirty minutes.
-
Then begin over again.
-
We would use a massage every other day, with a compound combined in this manner - or put together in the order given:
-
To 2 ounces of cocoa butter (put into solution, while still warm), add:
Russian White Oil…2 ounces, Sassafras Oil…1/4 ounce, Witchhazel…1 ounce.
This will only PARTIALLY solidify, and should be stirred thoroughly each time before it is massaged into the spine. Especially massage it along those portions where the tired, achey feelings have come to the body from the bed - or over the portions in the lumbar and solar plexus area, and in the brachial area - and ESPECIALLY from the 4th and 5th cervical to the base of the brain.
-
In the matter of the diet, keep much in the way and manner that has been outlined.
-
When necessary, continue with the medicinal properties that rest, or keep quiet the body to make rest. See?
-
See that the eliminations are kept as near normal as possible.
-
And in thirty days from the beginning of these treatments we would give further instructions.
-
These may be all applied at home.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Which person in the family would be the best to see that these instructions are carried out? (A) Anyone that may insure that these ARE given the opportunity to show their effectiveness in the existent condition. The brother, the husband, or the son, or the daughter.
-
(Q) What part of present treatment should be continued or left off? (A) As just given, continue when necessary the ministration of properties that make for quietness to the body; of course, reducing as MUCH as possible - as improvements begin - the bromides that affect the MENTAL activities.
For, the properties that we have given here, as indicated, are to make use of the physical resistances that still exist in the circulation - and to make response from all functioning organs and assimilation and distribution of that assimilated for recuperative forces in the body. These in low electrical form will aid, see?
The addition of the ash is to relieve the pressure on the general system and revivify the blood supply; and the activity of the violet ray, given for fifteen to twenty minutes over those portions indicated, thirty minutes after the ash is taken, is only to make the effective activity of the ash or carbon in the system.
The properties given through the battery formations are resuscitating forces to the organs and the glands of same, in the respective portions of the body, as they are applied through the low electrical force, to sustain and revivify the body.
While, the massage of certain portions of the body, as given, is only to relax and make better coordination in the cerebro- spinal, sympathetic and sensory system. The MIND will be much better!
Let the body ITSELF KNOW the source from which these treatments are instructive, and what is to be accomplished by each!
- We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 8/24/33 Mr. [279]‘s letter:
“I just had a visit a little while ago from a Mr. […] [[394]‘s brother] from …, Ala. He said GD referred him to me. It seems he wanted to know what I thought of you and your ‘readings’. From what he tells me, his sister [394] is a very sick woman. He didn’t tell me much about the reading, other than the fact that you seemed to give a diagnosis that could be taken to have some merit. He seemed to be worried about getting a doctor to follow the information. Of course, I couldn’t give him any help on that score, as I understand his sister is in … But I told him a ‘few things’ about what I knew of the work, and he said he may get in touch with [257] and [417].”
R2. 8/25/33 Gray Salter wrote that Mrs. [394]‘s daughter had ordered the Gold, etc., and Wet Cell.
R3. 9/11/33 Mr. [391]‘s ltr. to GD: ”…They have started giving Mrs. [394] the treatment and the ash but isn’t it better to know that everything is started right? because I want so much to help her get well. I have never seen anyone change so much in my life. She isn’t even a ghost of her self. …I know they intend to do everything but there might be something that is left out so don’t you think it would be better if you could give a reading to find out if everything is going alright? I’ve argued and pleaded with them and they half way believe me now so want to be sure she gets every chance to get well. …Everyone knows about it and everyone is waiting kinda skeptical like. So what I want you to do is to get a reading to see that nothing is left out and any suggestions it might add that would help along. That might sound like asking too much but if you knew how much this case means to you all - you’d do everything to pull her thru…” [GD’s note: Mr. [391] was Mrs. [394]‘s daughter’s boy friend.]
R4. 9/15/33 See 394-2.
R5. 10/3/33 Mrs. [394]‘s nurse requested a rdg. for her afflicted brother, [521], saying: “I am a graduate, registered nurse, and have been on duty with Mrs. [394] for about four months. I was with her when she rec’d instructions for treatment, following one of your psychic rdgs., and I have helped to administer the treatments. I do have a great deal of confidence in you, because of the many things that I have heard about you.”
R6. 10/4/33 Mrs. [394]‘s brother referred Miss [414] for a rdg.
R7. 11/12/33 Mr. [391]‘s letter: “I wrote to you while you were in N.Y. but the ltr. came back - wrong address or something. Mrs. [394] was pretty bad off when I wrote but now she has improved quite a bit. Then tomorrow she might get worse - that’s the way it goes all the time. The directions have been carried out as well as possible and they want a ck. rdg. at once… Get the directions for the battery, too. It has lost all of its power or something - gotten weak and needs some new ingredients. I don’t know whether the rdg. has helped her any or not - it doesn’t seem to have, but you can’t tell outwardly.”
R8. 11/26/33 See 394-3, advising change from silver to just the gold and camphor in the Wet Cell, and adding mechanical adjustments in upper spine.
R9. 11/30/33 Daughter’s letter: “We have rec’d the rdg., and there are one or two things that are not clear to me. In regard to using the battery for low electrical vibration, the rdg. says to leave off the silver activity, but to continue the gold and camphor. We have not been using silver, but Atomidine.
“Can a neuropath perform the adjustments as well as a chiropractor? Mrs. [394] is afraid of chiropractors, and I’m afraid would have no faith in one. Should the other treatments be continued - i.e., the massage and the administration of carbon ash?”
R10. 12/4/33 GD replied: “It is meant that you should leave off the Atomidine, for this stimulates the activity of what is called the ‘silver cord’ in the body, and there has already been sufficient stimulation in this direction without the impulses being carried out or coordinated properly between the physical and mental body…Yes, I should think a neuropath could give the necessary adjustments as well as a chiropractor and even better, provided he would give the adjustments, for a neuropath would follow the nerves and give a general massage that would be very helpful to Mrs. [394]. However, you should insist that the adjustments be made in the areas indicated, as well as the massage. I am enclosing a letter for Dr. Nona Grapes [N.D.], for she has had experience with following the rdgs. Continue the Ash, followed with the violet ray, in the manner given, also the massage with the oils. As much as possible refrain from giving bromides.”
R11. 12/22/33 Mr. [391]‘s letter: “Mrs. [394] is getting lots better, I believe, and if [her son’s wife] would stay out of her room and stop looking like a dying calf all the time she’d improve much faster. She looks lots better and I certainly hope she gets well. Dr. Nona Grapes, N.D., has been giving her treatments and I think they’ve proven helpful… Say, what do you think about another ck. rdg.? If you think it’s necessary give it any time. She will be at the same place.”
R12. 12/30/33 “Mrs. [394] seems to be getting along pretty good. The treatments by Dr. Grapes seem to be doing the work. She certainly is sweet and gives you all credit for her existence now.”
R13. 1/4/34 Mrs. [394]‘s daughter submitted questions: “To what are the enlargements or lumps under the skin on the hips and buttocks due? Any treatment for them? Is it possible to stir up or let loose too much poison in the body at one time by the chiropractic or any other treatment? The patient has been bothered a lot with aching in the lower extremities. Dr. Nona Grapes, N.D., would like to begin treatment on this part of the body but thinks it best to hear from you first. To what is the aching in the lower extremities due? Any treatment? The patient’s stools have contained much mucous. From what part of the gastro-intestinal tract does this come? What is to be done in treatment? Is the present diet correct? To what is the slight but constant elevation in temperature due, and the increase above this which accompanies the headaches? Is there better coordination between the mental and physical activities of the body? Are the rdgs. being correctly followed? The patient wants to know if she will ever be able to walk? If the answer to this question is unsatisfactory please omit it from the copy sent to us, as the patient reads them.”
R14. 1/6/34 See 394-4 giving details for neuropathic massage for lower spine and down limbs to toes, occasionally high enemas, beginning with Atomidine again in Wet Cell, being patient and persistent, will walk.
R15. 1/24/34 Mrs. [394]‘s brother referred Mr. [651] for a rdg.
R16. 2/9/34 Mrs. [394]‘s nurse’s letter writing about her brother [521]‘s rdg.: “Mrs. [394]‘s condition continues to improve and we all are very much pleased to see her so much better.”
R17. 2/15/34 See 394-5 giving detailed compound for oil rubs, advising alkalin diet, encouragement for practicing to walk, etc.
R18. 3/10/34 See 394-6 for heart attack last night, caused by overexertion, advising Digitalis under doctor’s supervision, rest, etc.
R19. 3/27/34 Daughter’s letter: “What, specifically, caused the attacks? How can other attacks be prevented? What causes the stiffness in the lower parts of the body? Is the body suffering from rheumatism? Should all the treatments be continued - battery, violet ray, etc.?”
R20. 4/5/34 See 394-7.
R21. 4/10/34 Her sister-in-law, Mrs. [530] obtained a Physical Rdg.
R22. 6/9/34 She referred another relative, Mrs. [577], for a Physical Rdg.
R23. 7/12/34 Daughter’s letter: “Should we continue the treatments with the violet ray, battery and oils?”
R24. 7/17/34 See 394-8.
R25. 7/17/34 GD’s note: “…didn’t give any details at all about your condition, just asked for the ck. rdg., but I judge from this that you are still not walking. Let Dr. Nona Grapes read these directions for treating especially the lower portion of the spine; she will understand. I don’t think it will be long now…I suppose you feel that you ought to have the patience of Job by this time, but I know you’re going to be repaid for it all.
R26. 8/4/34 Mrs. [394]‘s letter to GD (in her own handwriting): “Ever since your letter and the ck. rdg. came I have been wanting to write you. First of all I wish to thank you for your kindly interest and to assure you of my appreciation. Some day ere long I will write Mr. Cayce and personally tell him of my gratitude to him. Were it not for his ‘reading’ or diagnosis and advice, I would now be either in an insane asylum or Live Oak Cemetery. I am one thousand percent (not 100%) better and looking forward with hope of walking again ere many months have passed. As above stated, I am greatly improved, yet I am far from being all right.
“It seems that about every-five weeks I have an attack such as I suffered when you were here. [3/9/34 See 394-6 on 3/10/34.] Weeks pass before the effects wear away. The last one, which began June 10th, was of shorter duration and of less severity. That at least is encouraging.
“Dr. Grapes says that so long as there are poisons in my body these attacks will continue at intervals. Is that correct?
“Perhaps it is best to explain just how I am affected. Lightning like flashes through the chest that end with stabbing pains in the heart. Also the left shoulder and arm pain very much. Nothing seems to relieve these paroxysms but hypodermics of morphine. At these times my bowels and intestines are in a bad way. The nerves or muscles in my neck and in other parts of the body are so tense that I cannot move myself. And what distresses me more than anything are my limbs. They become rigid and I cannot lift my feet even a fraction of an inch. Also the hips become ‘angry’ and inflamed.
“After reading all this, you will no doubt wonder in what way have I improved?
“Thank heavens that condition does not continue indefinitely. Most of the trouble gradually wears away until the next attack, and though not entirely free of pain I am fairly comfortable.
“At present I sit up an hour and a half each morning and again late in the afternoon. My limbs move slowly now and I can partly raise up in the chair by holding onto the arms. Each day I exercise a bit more.
“I forgot to state that with these attacks comes fever, which lasts for weeks. I’ll have to admit that at these times I am very despondent, as it always seems like a backward step. However, now I am again cheerful and looking forward with hope. [Daughter […]] could not have written you the things I have, because I never let my family know just how I suffer…
“Please excuse the scrawl, but it is the best I can do lying down.”
R27. 10/1/34 She referred Mrs. [676] for a Physical Rdg.
R28. 1/4/35 She referred her brother-in-law, Mr. [777], for rdgs.
R29. 4/3/35 She wrote: “It has been a long time since you have heard from me. There was nothing especial that I wished to ask, but I did want to tell you of the improvement in my condition.
“Strength is slowly returning and I walk a few steps each day that I am able to do so, also sit up about 3 hrs. a day. Will I ever be able to sit up hrs. at the time? My lower back, hips and buttocks cause me much agony. At times I am comfortable and then again these places become red and swell in lumps, burn and throb like boils.
“The angina attacks are less severe and less frequent. Three weeks ago I had an attack and am just getting over it. If you think I should have a diet list, I will be glad if you will send me one.
“Dr. Grapes and my nurse work hard and faithful, following the reading instructions. I am no longer using the violet ray as the one I had burned out. I do not care to purchase a new one unless absolutely necessary. The battery is still being used every day and the oil rubs three times a week. Should these be continued?
“I am pleased that other members of our family are being helped by Mr. Cayce’s diagnosis.”
R30. 4/10/35 See 394-9 giving changes for Wet Cell and oil rubs.
R31. 5/12/35 Dr. Nona Grapes [N.D.]‘s letter: “I suppose you have heard how very much Mrs. [394] is improved. She is gaining weight and strength rapidly now and walking more.”
R32. 5/16/35 Mrs. [394]‘s letter: “My improvement continues, as no doubt [son […]] has told you. I am walking some better, though not very spry. Am still lying down most of the time, as the least bit of exertion affects me greatly.”
R33. 6/18/35 Her brother requested a Physical Rdg. for Mr. [937].
R34. 8/5/35 Mrs. [394]‘s letter: “I am steadily improving, gaining in strength and weight. Am also making progress in walking. Walk from my bed to the front or back porch, or across the hall. Sit up three and a half hours each day and several times a week am lifted into the car and enjoy a half hour’s ride.
“Have had two heart attacks since June 15th. However, since I am stronger recover more rapidly. The last attack was not so severe as the others.
“We are continuing with treatments suggested by Mr. Cayce, because I KNOW how they have helped me…
“We, too, are pleased to know that [777] and [675] are so greatly benefitted by Mr. Cayce’s treatment. They assure us that they are in better health than in years.”
R35. 9/19/35 HLC sent two questionnaires to Mrs. [394], one for her and one for Dr. Nona Grapes to fill out, asking if he could use her case in the next A.R.E. Bulletin: “I have also written your brother asking that he give us a statement as to the doctors’ reports before you began treatments as suggested in the readings and also their statements after treatments according to the rdgs. had begun to show results. We are by no means trying to throw discredit on the physicians but are anxious to include in our reports statements of just what they considered your case to be and just how serious it was.”
R36. 9/26/35 Mrs. [394]‘s reply: “The delay in replying to your letter was caused by the absence from the city of Dr. Grapes. Also it will be necessary for me to get in touch with the nurse who was with me at the time Mr. Cayce gave the first rdg. She can tell better than I the symptoms and severeness of my illness. I was at that time too ill to know ANYTHING. Dr. Grapes is still at the bedside of her brother who is very ill. I regret our report will be too late for your Oct. Bul.”
R37. 10/5/35 Her brother’s ltr.: “My sister, Mrs. [394], with the assistance of Dr. Nona Grapes and the nurses who attended her in 1934, prior to July of that year, is preparing the information which I believe you desire. The nurses can more intelligently and more completely give you all the facts, as the symptoms were so numerous that it would be difficult for me to recall them. I hope that when you receive the information it will be all that you desire. I assure you that we are very glad to furnish it, with the hopes that it will be of benefit to others.”
R38. 10/12/35 Mrs. [394]‘s reply to questionnaire:
Date of First Reading: 8/18/33
(Q) In your opinion did this analysis cover the condition? (A) Yes.
(Q) Give symptoms of condition described correctly. (A) Violent pains in head. Strongest opiates failed to relieve. Severe heart attacks. Pulse very rapid and weak. Delirious or unconscious for a long time. Too weak to move. No appetite, digestion and assimilation of food poor. Laxatives and purgatives failed to act. Abdomen distended and painful. Large lumps on hips and buttocks, almost blue in color, causing agony. Limbs stiff and rigid. Lost weight at alarming rate. Could not stand or walk for more than two years.
(Q) Have the suggestions for treatment been followed exactly as given? (A) Yes.
(Q) For how long? (A) For more than two years.
(Q) Have improvements resulted? (A) Yes.
(Q) To what extent? (A) No pains in head. No heart attack in three months, the last ones less severe. Gained strength and weight. Appetite and digestion good. Lumps or modules on hips and buttocks disappeared. Can now sit up four hours a day and walk without assistance from one room to another. Mental condition normal.
(Q) Comment. (A) It is impossible for me to express in words how grateful I am for the benefits derived from Mr. Cayce’s readings.
Truly, I was down in the depths, whereas now I look with renewed hope to the future.
Signed [394]
R39. 10/12/35 Mrs. [394]‘s letter: “There is so much wrong with me and condition so critical, that it is hard after more than 2 yrs. for even the nurses to recall everything. However, what I have written should be enough to prove the help I have derived through Mr. Cayce’s rdgs. Whether my brother will be able to send my M.D.’s report is doubtful. The doctor [Dr. Monroe Maas, M.D.] is himself very ill at Johns Hopkins.
“It pleases me to report that I am steadily improving. The heart attacks have been fewer and less severe. I must admit, though, when these severe attacks occur, I am compelled to have an M.D. to relieve me. I trust that will soon be unnecessary…
“You will note that I had treatments as suggested by Mr. Cayce before Dr. Grapes was called in.”
R40. 10/12/35 Dr. Nona Grapes’ reply to questionnaire:
(1) Did the Physical Reading presented to you describe the condition of the patient? Yes
(2) Were the suggestions for treatments in your opinion proper for this condition? Yes
(3) For what period of time has the patient followed directions given in the Reading under your care? Twenty-two (22) months
(4) What results have you observed? Relief from headache. Improved appetite. Passing of inflammation of joints. Gained weight - control of angina - Patient learns to walk again, gain of strength. Better coordination of nerves.
(5) Comment. Bad incoordination of cerebro-spinal systems (1st & 2nd dorsal area) chronic muscular contracture - colitis & intestinal stasis - clogged lymphatics & very sluggish - lumbar & coccygeal vertebrae in bad alignment - all heart centers involved.
Date: Oct. 12th, 1935 Signed: Nona Grapes, N.D.
Note We will appreciate it if you will include a technical analysis of your findings.
R41. 11/17/35 Dr. Grapes wrote: “Am rejoicing with you over Mrs. [394]‘s improvement.”
R42. GD’s note: The A.R.E. Bulletin for Nov. ‘35 carried Mrs. [394]‘s Case Study, entitled: GENERAL DEBILITATION.
R43. 11/26/35 Mrs. [394]‘s letter: “I enjoyed reading the Nov. Bulletin and hope that others will derive benefit from the report.
“I am having head trouble - that is, hay fever, or something similar.”
R44. 12/31/35 See 394-10 indicating that the hay fever effect was from medicants that had been given to ease the pressure through the heart. Changes in neuropathic treatments were suggested to prevent tendency for an asthmatic condition. Occasional Calcidin tablets were suggested at bedtime, and warning to avoid sweets in the diet.
R45. 1/25/36 Mrs. [394]‘s letter: “Dr. Grapes had been giving me treatments for the head and nasal trouble for some time before Mr. Cayce’s reading was received. Except for the ‘wet heat’ applications her treatments were the same as Mr. Cayce suggested. The trouble is better but still bad enough. In time I am sure I’ll be entirely rid of it.
“My condition otherwise is greatly improved. I still must be very quiet (no doubt always will) and have plenty of rest. I now walk about the house and also walk as far as the corner of … and … and back. [About two blocks to three blocks in all] I also enjoy short rides. Isn’t that fine?”
R46. 3/3/36 Her brother obtained a Physical Rdg. for Miss [1126].
R47. 5/21/36 Her brother obtained 394-11 for her regarding heart attack.
R48. 6/29/36 Mrs. [394]‘s letter: “I am much better now and sitting up part of the day…The head trouble that plagued me for 8 long months left (as suddenly as it came) during my recent illness. The main trouble now seems to be in the chest, left shoulder and arm. The pains as a rule are not severe enough to take sedatives. Once last week I had to resort to a digifoline hypo. In time I hope to be entirely rid of all misery.”
R49. 8/21/36 Dr. Nona Grapes’ letter: “I have so much enjoyed Mrs. [394]‘s case. There have been hard places and I’ve wished many times I could tell you some experiences.”
R50. 7/21/37 She referred Miss [1413] for a Physical Rdg.
R51. 10/22/37 Her husband referred Miss [1464] for a rdg.
R52. 2/20/39 Her brother obtained 1826-1 for his wife.
R53. 5/23/39 She referred a cousin, Mrs. [1892], for a rdg.
R54. 12/39 Her brother referred Mr. [2065] for a rdg.
R55. 3/22/40 Her brother referred Miss [2152] for a rdg.
