This psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by the son - Mr. [317], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes. These as we find are very serious disturbances. There are segregations and inflammations, as is understood, of that nature such that there is the need for stimulating the activity of the central nervous system and blood supply, so that there may be a destruction of cellular forces that are as ravages upon the vitality of the body, and thus the building of resistance in lungs, heart, liver, kidneys.

3. As for the desire to maintain the activities of body, mind and soul, these have run their course well. The administrations that are being made with the x-ray are very good. It would be found that if there would be administered before the x-ray treatments are given, whenever they are given, one-eighth grain of Animated Ash, these would be more beneficial.

4. Keep the body quiet. Keep the body-building forces for the system. Keep good eliminations.

5. These offer the better conditions for the body. We wouldn’t change anything other than to add the Animated Ash at least not longer nor not shorter than fifteen to twenty minutes before the x-rays are given. Put the dry ash on tongue and take a drink of water.

6. Ready for questions.

7. (Q) What can be done to relieve the pain? (A) As has been indicated, the activities of the Animated Ash in the system will do more to relieve the pain unless the cobra venom is administered hypodermically, though with the age and the low resistance, it would be mighty hard to adapt this body to the use of cobra venom.

8. (Q) Is there anything better than the codeine for sleep? (A) Nothing better that is not too much habit-forming and that doesn’t require the large quantities to be taken more often. Do keep the stimulation of eliminations. These will be better for the body.

R1. 4/19/44 “Please accept my sincere thanks for the card, the reading and the help it contains. We are very much encouraged by what has been brought out and are relieved to know that the X-ray treatments are in the right direction.

“I have ordered the Animated Ash from Mr. Godfrey. The next X-ray is to be about ten days from now, so we should be prepared to carry out the additional treatment of administering the Ash by that time.”

R2. 4/22/44 EC’s letter: “Thanks for yours of the 19th. I do hope that you will find some help for your father in the use of the things suggested. This animated ash has a very unusual property, but as have found it has brought real help for those where it has been suggested. I know without it, my own father would have gone many years sooner than he did.

“Let us hear from you, and you know if we can be the means of a help, we are glad to do so.”

R3. 8/30/44 Son’s letter to EC: “Your records will show a reading for my father, … sometime during the Spring of this year. I believe in one of your letters you asked me to keep you advised of his condition.

“I regret to say that we must have turned to you too late to receive any benefit from the advice in the reading. It was followed to the letter, but in June his condition became worse and the X-ray treatments had to be discontinued.

“Has there ever been any information about an ointment or salve prescribed in a reading that would help an open sore? On his face there is such a sore - the result of an operation more than a year ago. I shall be glad to pay you for any suggestion you believe would be helpful. We feel there must be something that would effect a cure.”

B1. 3/30/44 Son [317]‘s letter: “Last spring and again last summer Dr. Putney, of Staunton, operated on Dad’s face for skin cancer. The healing has never been complete. We believe that if Dr. Flanagan, of Richmond, had not started X-ray treatments about the first of this year that the continued hemorrhages would have proved fatal. Some improvement has been made since (we are planning to go to Richmond April 1st for the last treatment, we hope), but the condition could be better.

Here are some specific questions:

Should the X-ray treatments be continued? What other treatment is advised? Is the diet right? What can be done to relieve the pain? Is there anything better than the codeine for sleep? Any other advice?

Some of these questions may seem to overlap, so I will leave it to you good people to use them as you see fit. Please let me [know] if there is further information necessary.
