This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of February, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [413].

1. EC: Yes we have the entity here, Mrs. [413], and those relations with the universe and universal forces that are latent and exhibited in the present entity, both as to personalities and that which has been builded or is latent in the entity.

2. In the astrological aspects in the entity’s experience, these have been altered or changed; much by the entity, yet these influence the entity in many varying ways, as will be seen in the present personality and in the individuality of the entity.

3. Astrologically entering, we find the entity coming under the influence of Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, and Uranus; these in and with the varying aspects that may be termed coming through those influences in the various spheres or aspects in the astrological influences. Coming in at the time or period, we find those in the cusps having much to do with the variations as the experience in the present has brought to the entity; that is, with astrological influences there have come many periods of change in the entity’s experience of mental attitude towards individuals, things, conditions in life’s experience. These, then, are related to material conditions material associations, mental attitude, mental attributes of various groups and individuals, while the entity finds - being on or in that astrological influence - these influence the entity in a mental manner.

4. As to the developments, or as to the use of these and the application of self as respecting the influences - this has altered the outlook upon life and its attributes for the entity.

5. In Venus we find that love influence, the motherly influence, that has been apparent in the entity’s experience in the present; yet often there have entered those conditions which have made the entity doubt its abilities to be the proper kind, the proper associate, for its offspring, or for its associates; even at times doubting in itself (often not expressed, often acted into a part) as to whether capable of being the proper companion for those, or the one, about the entity. These are as innate expressions in the mental, for in Jupiter with Mercury - comes the great mental abilities of the entity, with capable conditions - especially that will deal with mathematical problems. Hence the days, periods, changes in circumstances, numbers, often mean a great deal to the entity. As to whether they be pairs, trios, groups, sevens, fourteens, or the multiples in various numbers, these are as influences. Hence, is it a wonder the entity finds self in a turmoil within, without finding a answer to the enigma of questions that arise within the entity’s experience?

6. In Jupiter, too, there is seen this love influence manifested in a greater degree, in that it becomes all inclusive - and the entity may be said to be one that MIGHT (should it choose) have a Platonic influence, not only upon ones of its own sex but upon many individuals; this remaining to the entity as an ideal, yet would be often misunderstood by others.

7. The entity, then, has the ability in itself to make or break many individuals, dependent upon that IDEAL the entity holds as the measuring rod, or as that to which self or others must measure up to.

8. The entity may be termed as a stickler for ideals, yet often losing hold - even in self - of the great ideal held. Let NOT those things that partake of the material conditions in earth’s experience alter, or make self falter in the spiritual ideals; for the earth and its influences must pass away, but the SPIRIT remaineth. How oft has the varying of conditions in the experience of the entity through the earth’s plane altered or changed the circumstances in material affairs and conditions! yet that self without doubt, that believed in and acted upon, has ever been that guiding force, and will remain when heavens and earth in their totality have passed away; for we look with faith for the new heaven and the new earth, without foundations, set in Him who calls all things into being, made without hands, eternal in its foundation!

9. In the influences in Mercury, with those in Uranus, makes for those conditions that are easily besetting in the entity’s experience, of individuals groups - having that influence as to “What will people say? What will individuals think?” Think not that by taking thought you may add one cubit to thine self, but as there is BUILDED in the mental so does the body-mind, the body itself, the physical attributes, become wavered in the aspects of that BUILDED.

10. In this also we find; those influences that bring about CHANGES in the entity’s individual surroundings, as related to groups. The entity influences GROUPS, rather than individuals. Not that there are not close friendships, for - as has been given - the entity may become the mother to many, in more ways than one. The entity may influence those close friendships. The entity may influence groups and classes and masses also in a greater degrees, dependent upon the measuring rod with which judgements are given. Think not that vengeance is thine, for the Giver of all things worketh with those experiences in an entity for its return to the Creative Force; for it is not the will of the Father that ANY should perish, but that all peoples - everywhere - should harken unto that from within, that makes of self a companion for the continuity of DEVELOPING forces toward that Creative Energy. Knowing, then (as the entity does from within), that the redeemer liveth, even in thee, even in self, press on to the mark of the higher calling that is found in Him, and that that is wanting - in material or in the mental - will be supplied from that same source which brought into BEING all that even taketh on the APPEARANCE of matter.

11. In the individualities as seen in the entity, from the experiences that have been in the entity’s sojourn in the earth, and in the application in the present, we find MANY - as these:

12. One capable of many attributes of the material forces.

13. One capable of influencing individuals by the look, by speech, by action.

14. One that is given to be - especially in the domestic influences, as the motherhood - as the mother in an earthly manner.

15. One that is a judge of beauties in many varying phases, yet JUDGEMENT is often hindered by those influences in conditions that may be termed as MORAL effects. In the morality of self WITHIN, these become those that have been builded by experience.

16. In the appearances and their influences in the present:

17. In the one before this we find in that period known as the troublesome, or the turmoils between those peoples in position or power gained by birth rather than by right of that accomplished by self, and the common people. In England, when Cromwell brought to the people an ideal of self government, self esteem, the abilities within self, the entity was then among the PEOPLES - or the common peoples, yet rising - through those positions attained by associations in groups and individuals - to the position of a RULER to many on the latter portion of the experience. The entity was known in that period as the individual that led even a RULER to see the good in the peoples who served. In the name Jeane. In this experience the entity gained throughout, for the entity served many - and felt little of what others said or did. Knowing self to be aright in the manner or the way chosen by self, the entity gained through the application of the abilities attained in that experience, and rose to a position in power, a position in material affairs as of prominence, fame and fortune. These altered not the entity in the use of self’s own abilities. Would that all would gain this as an ideal! Not that possessed in earthly goods or position that makes for a service; rather that of self that partakes of self in its every phase, whether bodily attributes or MENTAL attributes. The gift of self, not that possessed, is the developer.

18. In the one before this we find in that period in Rome when there were the teachings of those that came from the promised land. The entity then was in the household of a judge, or a ruler in the period - the daughter, then, of Ponticafile. In those gatherings, when those that followed an ideal were led into the arena to fight with the beasts of the field and the beasts of the arena, the entity was among those who looked on; yet, as the entity developed in body and mind, the purposes in the peoples brought that period of development in the entity’s experience in that sojourn. The entity in the latter days became one of those believing in those ideals held by those who suffered in body, who suffered in mind, being persecuted from pillar to post; yet the entity remained true to those tenets, those thoughts, those ideals taken on [10/17/42 See 2175-6, Par. 35-A indicating that Mrs. [413] was one of the “holy women” and among those who gathered as mourners in that period.]. During the latter portion the entity developed. During the first portion the entity may have been termed as one that thought little, being carried on by - and as a creature of - circumstance, surroundings, doing and being that as was SUPPOSED to be from the position held. In the name Thelmai. The entity gained in the latter portion, and the ideals that are held in the present come from that sojourn. In the entity is seen and held many of those as of the shudders from the experiences in that sojourn, yet periods arise when the entity feels as if the self could administer much of a punishment to others for their unheeding of warnings given. This allowed soon to pass, again there comes - as it were - the vision of those in this experience that show in their lives any phases of that thought, that ideal, that purpose held.

19. In the one before this we find in that period when there were those overrunning what is now known as the Persian lands, during that period when the nomads and the peoples of the hill land made excursions and riots in the cities about Persia. The entity was then among the nomads, and a companion to those who came to that nomad leader in the land where there was the beginning of a peoples that later entered into the southern land for a purposefulness. In this experience the entity lost and gained. In the name Tel-Lia. The entity was then among those that offered, as it were, the entertainment to the peoples as they gathered from their excursions in and about the home, and the entity exercised and influence through the song, through the dance, through the exciting of the individuals to carry on, becoming a favorite with the leaders for the abilities to bring about such conditions in the lives of individuals in the experience; gaining when in service, losing when aggrandizing selfish interests for promotion - whether in material, or in the fame and position held. In the present these conditions find an expression innately, and occasionally in the entity’s abilities to use bodily adornment or bodily conditions in self to influence others, by the look, by the movement, by the conditions that may be made from within to influence another. The entity may gain from this also much of that held as intuitive forces, arising from this experience; used aright may become blessings; used for self’s own interests may become that which will drag down - even as those that would build for gratifying or carnal desire.

20. In the one before this we find in that land now known as the Egyptian. In the household of the king did the entity preside at that period, being among those chosen by the early ruler as ones that would minister, the entity then acted in the capacity of a teacher to - and aider for the establishing of - the YOUNGER king, who was pitted against the natives in the building up of the land and thought during the period. The entity exercised an influence that was good in the period, yet was held by the king as being almost a tyrant at times to self’s own desire - but the entity was later placed in the position of one that counseled to many. In the exile and after the return the entity held much for the peoples in the building up of the school, of the religious thought, of the tenets of the period. That held in the present as - to the entity - sacred in moral codes was gained from that experience for the entity found much that brought consternanation through the activities of those that were held near and dear to the entity during that experience, yet the entity established in self that which will remain throughout - in the whole experience of the entity through the earth’s plane, and through those sojourns in the planetary influences, that are termed in this sphere. In the name Li-Los. [See 413-1, Par. R1.]

21. In the one before this we find in that land known as Poseida. In the city of Amaki (?) did the entity rule as the priestess to the fire worship and to the precious stones that were gathered together during that sojourn. In the name Ameei did the entity gain in a portion, lose in a portion of that experience. By some the entity was termed as a good ruler; by some felt as some that oppressed those who WOULD use those things attained in the MENTAL for the use in the material.

22. In the abilities of the entity in the present, and that to which it may attain, and how:

23. As seen from the various experiences, the entity is with the ability to wield an influence in many places, in many conditions, under many circumstances. Using this in a manner to give rise to those thoughts that will build for a SPIRITUAL life will bring the greater development in the present.

24. In material conditions that arise, many have the hindrances come in these direction. Faint not because the shortness of the arm seems hindered by circumstance. So conduct thine own self that the results of that GIVEN will bring the long arm of justice, as meted by the Giver of all good and perfect gifts.

25. Ready for questions.

26. (Q) Explain the beginning of the entity, and the reason for it. (A) In an explanation of an entity’s entering into an earth’s plane, this may come for the use of many:

An ENTITY in an earth’s experience, as this entity, is a sum total of all that MADE in the material plane, with the ability to use all for a GLORIFICATION of the Creative Forces that are manifested in same.

As the development of the earth as a sphere BECAME a dwelling place, capable of caring for the conditions to which an entity might assume its abode in any form, the entity was among those SOULS given to such entities to MANIFEST that divine IN the earth’s plane, and chose of itself to enter, that it might - of itself - become a portion of same, to show forth that held INNATE AND manifested within self of the divine itself. See?

Entering, then, through the development of the forces that brought into being the forces that manifest through and about that known as the earth, passing from period to period, sphere to sphere, as the entity builds that which would make itself one WITH that Creative Force, from sphere to sphere, gathering ALL then in the present, being a sum total of that first cause, with that the entity has builded in its soul THROUGH its sojourn in ALL of the spheres, INCLUDING the earth’s material forces that the entity has EXPERIENCED. As the entity goes on and on, and passes through these spheres - the sun, the planets, the earth - it develops TOWARDS - taking all, being a portion of all, MANIFESTING all - to carry that back to that source from whence it came; giving the ability to become one WITH the whole, yet NOT the whole, and knowing self to be itself, a portion OF the whole, and one WITH God.

27. (Q) In which former appearances was the entity associated with her present daughter [2501], and how? (A) Sister in Persia.

28. (Q) Is present entity an heir to the Jennings estate in England? If so, where and how can she find the legal proof? (A) Through the genealogy that may be had from those records held intact in THAT land. The break that will be found, and that necessary to be established, is that as arose in the conditions through which the country passed - the country both to which the forefathers came and from which they came - and the circumstances UNDER which they came. See? This may be established, and is worth following out. [See 413-3, 8-A—14-A on 11/23/32 in re estate.]

29. (Q) Outline plan which the present entity can follow to make more material progress? (A) Material progress should not be looked on as first and foremost. Rather let the MENTAL and SPIRITUAL progress be such that the MATERIAL progress is an outgrowth OF same, or so conduct the MATERIAL LIFE that the SPIRITUAL and MENTAL forces are put first and foremost. Follow the lines in which the entity expects to engage. These would be well.

30. We are through for the present.

My dear, dear Mrs. Ellington:

On this day, March 3, 1984, you become ninety-four (94) years old! What a wonderful joy and privilege to have known you for the last 54 of those years! It was on January 24, 1930 that you came to Edgar Cayce for your daughter Thelma’s reading, and she became a patient in Cayce Hospital. There began a long, family-type association with the Cayce family and me. As I look back I realize that you became like an older sister to me, which I hadn’t had before, since I was the older sister in my family. Through the years you looked out for me, as a friend, a sister, a confidant. Not that you didn’t do this for others also, but for me you became like a haven in a storm. You had many problems of your own but you always had time to talk to me as an equal, to have me in your home often and to include me in social things that otherwise I couldn’t have experienced. I remember especially the times you and Mr. Ellington took me to dances with you; the time you bought the material and made me a long party dress - the “partiest” dress I ever had until I had the long white dress for my 60th anniversary celebration “with the work” last Sept. 10th! (to which you bought tickets for your whole family!).

I remember the nights I spent with you when we sat up late talking about the readings, especially the all night session when we “figured out” the twelve major divisions of the body in the Revelation. I could go on and on. The many delicious meals I had with you - your home was my “home way from home”

• my other home being with the Cayce family in their home since Sept. 1923. When your dear sister Jane Williams moved to Virginia Beach from Norfolk, she too became very close to me and we three shared so very much through the years. When I think back I can remember so many words of wisdom that came through you two which have been a great help to me.

Mrs. Ellington, I have made a copy of your Life Reading for you, which may be a little clearer to read than your old original copy. Also I have added notations about all the people in your family and in-laws for whom you obtained readings, or at least referred them to Mr. Cayce. I have added also Case Numbers in the Study Group Readings [[262] series] and in the Prayer Group Readings [[281] series] in which you were given personal messages. You may have copies of all these readings you’ve kept all these years but if so you will now be able to find all these messages by checking the dates on the readings and by putting the Case numbers on the top right corner as you take them from these excerpts.
