GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes.
-
Now as we find, conditions that are disturbing are rather of an acute nature; though the causes and that as will be necessary for the full or correct improvement lie somewhat deeper.
-
These, then, are the conditions as we find them in the present:
-
Through the cold and congestion there has been the arousing of those disturbances, the sources from which many of the poisons have arisen that have disturbed the system from time to time, - a condition in the bronchi and in the cerebro-spinal system from which the impulses are received for the better activity.
-
The congested forces, now, affect also the liver AND the abilities of the assimilating system.
-
As we find, it will be necessary that the body take the time for the corrective measures to have the proper effect upon the system; as well as having sufficient of those corrective measures given in the upper dorsal and throughout the cervical area to relieve the tensions and pressures there. These, the manipulations, we would have as early as is practical. Three to six treatments should be enough in the PRESENT condition; but for the general correction the body should go farther with same.
-
Begin then first, in the present, with hot mustard foot baths. Also it would be well to have a hot sponge bath from the waist down. Then grease the feet with an equal combination of Mutton Tallow, Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor. [See 413-9, Par. R3.]
-
Take at least two tablets of Alka-Seltzer (these in the first, you see). About an hour after these are taken, begin with Castoria. Take half a teaspoonful every half hour until at least a small-sized bottle and a half has been taken.
-
Keep the body warm.
-
Massage with the Mutton Tallow compound also between the shoulders, the neck and back of the head.
-
On the morrow, after the eliminations have been carried through, have the corrective measures.
-
Rest; drink plenty of water; fruit juices; and NO solid foods!
-
Soups, vegetable juices, broths, ANYTHING that is liquid of such natures would be very well, but NOT solid foods.
-
Remain on the liquid diet until it is free from any temperature or cold!
-
But keep quiet! Don’t run around in the open and out!
-
Do this.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is it flu, or just a deep cold? (A) As just indicated, it is the deep cold AFFECTING those conditions latent in the bronchi and larynx.
-
(Q) Anything else to do for the cough? (A) If it will do these, it will have done that necessary!
-
(Q) Should the body remain in bed? (A) Necessarily, of course, to get out of bed to go to the office for treatments, but outside of this it is well if the body will remain quiet. If it has to go to bed to remain quiet, then go to bed! Otherwise, remain quiet where it is warm and not in drafts, or fanning in and out of doors!
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 2/27/39 Daughter [578] phoned: “[413] doesn’t feel well, can’t seem to relax so as to sleep any.”
R2. 2/28/39 See 413-10.
R3. 2/14/48 Mrs. [413]‘s Reports in re 413-9, Par. 8:
“My sister-in-law had pleurisy. I thought the mutton tallow, turpentine and camphor would cure her, so I used it. You put it in a bowl, and set the bowl in hot water, so that it will keep hot while it is being used. Rub as much as the body will absorb over the areas affected. I did that to her.
“She had been away from work for [four?] months altogether, and was in bed most of the time. You follow up the treatment by covering up the area to which the solution is applied, as warmly as the patient can stand it, and keep the person in bed 2-3 hours or longer. We broke the attack of pleurisy, and she did not have another attack for 2 yrs. Before that, she had trouble constantly for several yrs.
“There was another patient with whom I had the same experience. It was a man who lived in our neighborhood. And he did not have another attack for at least a couple of years.”
