This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 9th day of July, 1925, in accordance with request made by her husband, Mr. [4219].

Time of Reading 2:45 P. M. Dayton Savings Time. …, Ohio.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body. You will answer the questions relative to this body that I will ask you.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here. We have had this before, you see. Now, we find the general physical conditions in this body greatly improved from those as we had here before. While there are some conditions that the body should be warned of and keep the body in such mental and physical condition as to give for the physical forces those of the nearer perfect eliminations, so that no cellular force becomes clogged in any portion of the body, causing disruption in tissue or an expansion of tissue that has become clogged in any manner in the system.

3. Now, these are conditions as we find them at this time in this body, [4218] we are speaking of. First:

4. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find greatly improved from that as we have had here before, with the nearer normal pressure in the system, and the constituents and elements of the blood system nearer a normal condition.

5. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this we find also greatly improved. Not as many of the lesions in the body, and only those of the nature as is produced in those plexuses wherein cellular force attempts to create the perfect equilibrium in the distribution of building and of the destroying cellular forces, as are used or non-used in the rebuilding. Hence we find a greater vitality and a greater resistance in the system to meet the needs of the drosses through strain on either physical or of the nerve system as potential to the action of the nerves of the body.

6. IN THE ORGANS OF THE SYSTEM PROPER, brain forces as given.

7. Functioning of the organs of the sensory system shows some changes in the body, especially in that as is produced in vision and in the hearing. These, as we find, come from conditions as are produced by the normal condition in body, in lack of keeping perfect equilibrium in the system. These, as we see, occur through the upper portion of the body and in the 3rd, 4th and 5th cervical and in the supply from these of the blood and nerve tissue as go to give the incentive for the usage and distribution of organic distribution in the body in these portions of the system.

8. In the throat, larynx and bronchials, these are good. Lungs very good. Heart’s action near normal.

9. Digestive system very good, in the eliminating centers in liver shows the effects as is produced by overtaxing of eliminations at times, and the emunctories show some engorgement at the present time.

10. In the lower portion of the digestive system, in that of the intestinal digestion, we find this much better. Still the body shows some effect of toxins as are absorbed in the system by the too free usage, as it were, of the toxins not being eliminated properly. Hence the tired condition that is shown in the body at times, especially when over eating or over heated, or over exerted through mental forces, or over exertion as through physical forces, and not the responding vitality building up as is necessary and as is shown capable of through the stored energy of the system as is apparent in the body.

11. In pelvis and in the organs of same, these show changes as are taking place in the system with the functioning of these organs, as are affected, especially, by the chyle ducts as are from the reproductive organs and in the mammary gland, especially in the right portion, going toward that of the left breast, we still find these conditions as have existed. Not in the same manner. They are decreased in the pressure as is caused. Still, without the vibrations as have been accorded, and as have given some relief to the body, these we find now give some distress, more through mental condition and through uneasiness as is caused by pressure and soreness at times than through actual condition of the body itself in this respect. These would do well were those vibrations as were accorded through the appliance as was used over the system kept again on the body, renewing same through the higher vibrations as would come from these same forces. That is, use new ones, for the effectiveness of this in system is apparent. Be well too were this reduced by the application of properties to this portion of the body to reduce same, so that it may be absorbed in system. Well while this absorption is taking place, well that the body at all times keep the eliminations to a higher point in the system, even though it becomes necessary to take those properties of salines that will effect the evacuations through the intestinal tract. Better that these be directed more by the diet, keeping those of the green vegetable forces, especially those as grow above the ground, and of course bran and of mineral oils, that evacuations may be made intact. Sweet oil and laudanum may be used as the properties to reduce soreness, equal parts. Massage without bruising, but with gentle rubbing of the affected parts with Tincture of Laudanum and then applying Tincture of Iodine. These be alternated, would be very good for the body. These would reduce soreness and the oil, as we find, would make more pliable that tissue and more subject to elimination through vibrations and through evacuations as would be produced in system through diet and through the action of properties on body. Do that.

12. (Q) How often should these be used? (A) Every second or third day. Alternate. Laudanum and Iodine once. Sweet oil and Laudanum, equal parts, next time. Using the radium applicator on body across upper portion.

13. (Q) Should a new applicator be gotten and used? (A) New radium applicator gotten and used, as given.

For your attention we enclose a copy of a splendid letter recently sent in by a doctor in Texas, which we think is unusually convincing as it outlines the results he observed through the use of radio-activity in comparison with other methods of treatment common to doctors. This will increase your enthusiasm and confidence and we believe you will be fully justified in recommending the treatment to many, many more of your clients.

Gentlemen:

As stated in my communication by wire the other night, I have tested and experimented with your radium and radio-active appliances in various cases and conditions, and find that, without exceptions, their value and merits fully justify the modest claims you make for them in your literature and correspondence. I wrote you several months ago, when I ordered the first solar pad, that because radiation in different forms has been an interesting and successful hobby with me for a number of years, I was not in doubt as to the therapeutic value of radio-activity, but that I merely wanted to convince myself that I would be justified in recommending your particular appliances to patients and other doctors.

I am prepared now to give your appliances my endorsement without reservation. Whenever I have an opportunity to do so, I shall encourage physicians as well as suffering individuals to make use of these appliances in their efforts to combat disease and physical derangements. Frankly, I do not know of any remedial agent capable of giving as efficient and satisfactory returns for so little effort, such insignificant expense and without any bother or inconvenience whatever. Particularly do I wish to recommend your truss as the last word in truss comfort.

Your special appliances for the ear, nose, throat, eye, etc. have unquestionable merits for the purposes they are designated. In one case under my observation, the prostatic combination has accomplished a remarkable recovery from an enlarged prostate and all the escorting annoyances of the bladder and rectum. However, I would advise those who need any of these special appliances to also, and by all means, obtain one or more of the body pads, the stronger the better, because I find these pads unparalleled as revitalizers of the body organism generally, creating activity, relieving congestion, promoting nutrition and oxidation, and, consequently bringing about normal balance in the process of metabolism. When all has been said about the cure of disease, about remedies, and about doing this or the other for the sake of relieving disease manifestations, one simple fact remains. Our success or failure in overcoming disease, or forcing germ invasions to a retreat, depends largely on how well we are able to place the body and its functions on a basis or resistance and ability to fight its own battle. Unless this resitance can be created, increased, and maintained, our battle against disease is likely to meet with defeat in the end. Since the influence in this very important respect of the radio-active body pads is both undeniable and comparatively speedy, it appears to me as a rather sensible performance to make use of them in any and all conditions, no matter if other methods of treatments are found necessary.

In conclusion I wish to send a message of encouragement to the doubting Thomas, who is in the habit of protecting himself form new ideas by taking refuge in the little peanut shell “I don’t believe”. It makes no difference what we believe; it is what we know that counts. If we open our minds and investigate we find out, and then we know. If there is anything mysterious and unbelievable to anyone in the assertion that the radio-active minerals in your appliances hold and give off to the human body the energy derived from the sun, why do not these doubters open their eyes and begin to watch this very performance as it goes on right under their noses every day and all throughout creation. The earth they walk on, the air they breathe, the water they drink, and the foods they eat receive this same force from the sun, hold it and give it forth to other bodies in nature to promote growth and maintain life. We talk a good deal about the energy in foods. Well, what is it? Simply the very same force coming to us through the same cycle, subjected to many changes, but the same force, nevertheless.

However, the technical points and questions involved are of only passing interest to the average individual and to the average doctor as well. What both are interested in more is the results. If my experience counts for anything, there is no long waiting for results after the radio-active appliances are brought into operation. They work while you sleep, and they work efficiently and persistently.
