This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of April, 1931, in accordance with request made by her husband - Mr. [4283].

1. EC: We have the body here - this we have had before, [4280]. Now, we find there have been many changes in the general physical forces of the body since last we had same. There have arisen those general reactions as take place with the body at this particular period, and also those false conceptions with same. These making for pressures in the pelvic regions, with the tendency for the strains on the general nervous system, makes for periods of hot and cold flushes, of almost a cut-off or reaction in the MENTAL forces through the pineal reaction.

2. We would find it well to add these to the system in a medicinal way and manner, which would be most beneficial: Prepare as this: To 4 ounces of simple syrup add:

Tincture of Valerian…2 ounces, Elixir Calisaya…1 1/2 ounces, 10% solution Iodide of Potassium…90 minims, 10% solution Bromide of Potassium…20 minims, Tincture of Capsici…3 minims.

This we would take at least 3 times each day, 9 of morning and 3 in afternoon, 7 in evening - see? half a teaspoonful in half glass of water. Be right bitter, but take it!

3. In those periods when there is distress in the pelvic region, these hot and cold flushes, cold feet, general irritation - we would take Epsom Salts sitz baths, see? Prepare at least a small basin or a large washing tub, or such, that the body may sit in same - as hot as the body can bear same - see? and sit until the water is cool, or cold. Then take a thorough RUBDOWN, especially enlivening all of the centers along the cerebro-spinal system; and will those vibrations of the plain violet ray be taken following same, this will reduce all that irritation and make for an easy rest period.

4. Keep off of the feet, but do not become invalided because of feeling bad - but not FORCING self so much - but do not try to lift heavy objects, or move heavy things about - but walk or ride in the open air, and keep as pleasant a company - and BE pleasant to others! We will find this will work for the very best conditions for this body, [4280]. We are through for the present.

R1. 8/14/31 EC sent the regular form letter re. the Charter and By-Laws of the A.R.E., asking them to become members and to help with furthering the work.

R2. 2/4/33 EC wrote Mrs. [4280] telling her about the A.R.E. Bulletin being sent monthly to keep members informed of the work and asking if she and Mr. [4283] would like to receive it.

R3. GD’s note: If Mrs. [4280] or Mr. [4283] sent donations or corresponded about A.R.E. during this period, there is no record of it in the files.

R4. 10/21/34 Mrs. [4280] wrote asking for information about Ipsab for pyorrhea and Tim for hemorrhoids, as mentioned in a form letter which went out under the heading of the HEALTH HOME REMEDIES, INC., as she had misplaced the form letter.

R5. 10/27/34 EC’s letter to Mrs. [4280]:

My dear Mrs. [4280]:

I have yours of the 21st. I suppose because the circular about the pyorrhea remedy and the pile ointment came from Virginia Beach you thought it was from me. Although the formulas for these two remedies did come through the readings, they have been turned over to the Health Home Remedies Company here and I have no direct connection with it - other than, of course, the interest I have always had in bringing relief to suffering humanity. However, I have secured one of the little circulars and am enclosing it.

We were indeed very glad to hear from you again. Many times I have wondered what had become of you all. How is Dr. Layne’s health now, and Mr. [4283]‘s? Is he still there? How is Mrs. Layne, and the children and yourself? I suppose the little girl now is a grown-up young lady, in high school or something like that; and the boy must be a great big fellow by now. I certainly would love very much to hear from you all. You know we feel a very personal interest; for, as you know, for a good long while the diet followed by the little girl was given through the readings. [See [4281] and [5520] series.]

Please remember me to all of them, and I assure you I would be very glad to hear from you when you find the opportunity to write.

We are keeping very busy. I just returned from a little stay in Washington, D.C., where I spoke before several of the organizations there; and we organized one of our own Study Groups. This phase of the Work might be of considerable interest to you, Mrs. [4280]. It’s more the spiritual side of the information than material.

R6. 9/11/43 Husband [4283]‘s letter: ”…We often think of you and for several months have intended writing you but Mrs. [4280] has been sick for some time, but is doing much better at this time. [See 5520-7 Reports.]

“Since we have heard from you, Dr. Layne [Al. C.] has passed away - about four years ago.

“Mrs. [4280]‘s uncle […] passed away at …, Kentucky two or three years ago and left quite a bit of property. She has been advised that this uncle, in all probability, left some of the estate to her. His second wife is a very designing woman and we would like to know if Mrs. [4280] was remembered in any sort of will. Also if you could advise us of the name of any lawyer that handles his business. We would appreciate it if you would advise us on the above…”

B1. 4/10/31 Husband [4283]‘s letter: ”…We haven’t written you for some time. We have been getting along very nicely for past two years. Now am anxious to have you answer a few questions about Mrs. [4280]. She suffers so much pain at the base of her brain, also with lower part of her spine. She thinks this is the change of life - is it? Is she through with this? Is there any form of pregnancy at this time? Tell what to do for her at this time. Please let me hear from you at once or just as soon as you possibly can…”
