This psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 24th day of June, 1924, in accordance with request made by self - [4300].

1. EC: Now we find the general conditions throughout the physical body much improved from that as we had before. There are some abnormal conditions in this body. These are gradually being corrected by the changes as are taking place in the system and in the functioning of organs in their improved or near normal conditions.

2. Now, these are conditions as we find them in this body at the present time, [4300], we are speaking of, present in this room.

3. The blood supply (these as comparisons to that as we had before, you see) is much improved in its ability to store reserve energy. That is, the body under fatigue at the present time recuperates much faster from same than formerly. While the body tires, becomes laggard, feels dull at times, yet recuperation is much more quickly attained than when we had it at first. This is from the condition that is much relieved in liver and the upper digestive tract, and while toxins are carried at times in blood supply, from condition in and below intestinal digestion, the condition is much sooner eliminated and dispelled by the functioning system than formerly.

4. In the nerve system we find where lesions were in the lumbar region. These have been much improved and have almost disappeared, while with the exercise physically of the body, and with severe exercise mentally of the body, this portion of the lumbar region at times gives distress or tired feeling, as if the body was resting on the condition, which is only the reflexes from condition in intestinal tract and the plexus reflexly from the hypogastric plexus in its lower end or branch in connection with the lumbar region. We only need in this to keep more vibration, either by the light exercise, systematically taken, that this portion of the body here may be strengthened as the condition is removed through the intestinal tract.

5. In functioning of organs we find all in a much better condition. The lesion in lumbars, the condition in intestinal tract below the Peyers’ Gland and in the colon proper the lack of secretions being given in the system by the stimulation of the ducts, and of the portion of the system that supplies through the hypogastric and pneumogastric plexuses the secretions necessary to prevent the conditions forming in system as formerly; we still have the incentive for the system to absorb rather than eliminate in this portion. This we would control by exercise, as we have given, to create the perfect elimination. That of upper portion of body in the morning, the lower portion of body in the evening, systematically. That is, the lower limbs, the lower trunk portion of the body by the systematic exercise and by taking at least one meal of whole wheat or bran and by using high enemas to keep the eliminations free as the system builds to its normal condition.

6. Through the mental, the spiritual forces, the body has developed far.

7. Follow these out, keeping the diet nearer in accord with that of the system in eliminating. Not meats. Cereals, fruits, vegetables and the exercise, keeping plenty of good water in the system often, especially when it is warm.

8. Do that.

9. We will bring this body to the normal and to the best in the physical.

10. We are through for the present.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

This is just a note of inquiry so that I may be sure that we understand each other.

I note that the card enclosed for my signature is the same as the one I signed when I received the reading at first, and which involved the payment of twenty-five dollars. My visit yesterday and another a month after beginning were merely for the purpose of checking up on me to find out whether or not my body was responding to treatment, and do not require any further payments. Is this not right? I understand that the first payment was the full payment. Kindly answer, verifying this position.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

This is just by way of a report of my condition. It was last January, I believe, that I went to you and began following your instructions for a cure of my troubles.

I had the prescription filled twice according to your directions and took the medicine as per suggestions. I hunted up Dr. Stout [Dr. Carey A. Stout, D.O.?] and took something like fifty treatments from him. I tried to care for my health and to be careful about diet. I took regular exercises as directed. I followed this up for weeks and months. For a while there were some indications of improvements in some ways, and yet the main trouble which was constipation persisted. I have not been able to see improvement secured by the treatment. The tongue never lost its coat, the bad taste persists, and I have to resort to other means for securing evacuation of the bowel. In other words, the treatment has failed on me. You may be successful with other cases! I am not doubting that. But in my own case I must say that your treatment has not been successful.

Recently, after having that pain in my chest bother me so much (you remember I told you about the hurting) I consulted a noted doctor of the city and he found my heart was considerably enlarged. Another doctor who X-rayed me, also said the same thing. Your diagnosis said nothing about heart trouble, although that hurting had continued for months, and was no doubt present all the time. At least that hurting was present.

I think, Mr. Cayce, that I have given you a good chance. I continued your treatment for many months, without being able to see any signs of my old trouble being cured. I want to be honest with you. I would be only too glad to say I was cured if I were. But I am not. My trouble continues about what it was last January, and my heart is causing serious trouble. Several Monday mornings after my Sunday’s work, I have had to remain in bed till noon. I am not able now to do pastoral work and am getting other ministers to help me out. The past half-year I have lost a great deal physically, and am not near as good a man physically as I was the first of the year. This is the real situation.

You remember the understanding we had when I began treatment. I was not to pay for a cure unless I received a cure. I have not been cured. Awaiting your reply, and with good wishes, I am,

I’m certainly sorry indeed to note what you have to say regarding your condition. Of course, I am not questioning your own feelings or conditions, nor the report the doctors gave you upon the examination and upon the X-ray work. I would like, however, if you would be kind enough, for you to come in some day and let us take the readings that we have gotten, go over them very carefully, discuss them just a bit, and I believe I can be of some help to you. Not from any claims that I make for myself but the experience that so many others have had. Seemingly, your case is entirely an exception to any other I have ever had. Consequently, it is all the more interesting to me and if I know myself at all I want to be honest with myself and with everyone else regarding this.

So, if you will be kind enough to do this, I would appreciate it. If, however, you feel that you have given this all of the trial necessary, and that you do not care to go into it farther, if you will let me know, I shall be very glad to do whatever is the right thing and contribute in any way that is possible to your welfare, not only for yourself but for the work you’ve been attempting in years gone by.
