This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of October, 1932, in accordance with request made by Dr. A. J. Foerter, Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis, H. L. and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:35 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Illinois. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we find the body here, as we have had before, [4289].
-
More receptivity to the applications shows that there is a better outlook. While it is true that a great deal is resignedness, but of such a nature that it may be truly called patience; rather in the suffering, for the material suffering being lessened with the outlook of the mental forces of the body, this gives respite to the abilities of the mental and physical to coordinate much more properly.
-
We would find that it would be well for there to be some massage from those centers that hinder the activities in locomotion, as from those centers in both the upper portion of dorsal system and lower portion of cervical system, for the locomotion in arm as well as in lumbar, where centers have been impinged by the pressures that are produced by the contracting of muscular forces, that form a lesion which hinders the activity. With those internal applications that have been made, it would be well for some massage in this particular area for relaxing the system, so that the activities of the muscular forces will carry through to the system.
-
After the massage we would bathe over such places with equal parts of tincture of myrrh and olive oil; then apply heavy, HOT Epsom Salts packs. These applications will bring more of the resuscitating forces that will give flexibility and activity to those extremities.
-
In the matter or manner of meeting those mental conditions for the body, and also for maintaining the proper attitude of those that would wait upon the body in its distress, in its attempt to meet the physical and mental conditions, to retain and sustain the life forces within the system, well that there be pointed more and more the spiritual activity that is aroused by the inability of individuals to overcome that producing distress, or worry, save by, “NOT MY WILL BUT THINE, O FATHER, BE DONE IN ME AS THOU SEEST I HAVE NEED FOR, THAT I MAY BE USED IN THE WAY AND MANNER AS TO BE OF THE GREATER SERVICE TO THOSE THOU WOULD HAVE ME SERVE. NOT MY WAY, NOT MY WILL; RATHER THINE BE DONE IN ME, THROUGH ME, NOW: AND AS THERE COMES MORE AND MORE THAT CONSCIOUSNESS OF HIS FORCES, HIS POWERS AS MANIFEST IN HIS SON MAGNIFIED IN ME, HIS ABIDING PRESENCE WILL BRING THAT PEACE THAT MAKES FOR THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF ‘WELL DONE!’”
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Can anything be done to improve vision? (A) That which has been applied has been most helpful, and this kept from time to time as necessity demands will bring less and less of the pain, and more and more of those reactions to and for the system that will bring bettered conditions in these directions; greater responses to those of the sensory system, that make for the ability of the vision to respond to, slowly but surely, the reactions in the physical system.
-
(Q) Can anything be done for his lower limbs to cause locomotion? (A) This has just been outlined, what should be done, in the application of those properties externally, after a thorough massage in the lumbar areas from which the locomotive centers receive their impulses, as well as those in the lower cervical and upper dorsal; applying the saturated solution of Epsom salts following the bathing of those portions (that is, after the manipulation) with the equal parts of tincture of myrrh and olive oil. Heat the oil and add the myrrh; only prepare sufficient at the time to massage the body that will be taken up - in this particular case a tablespoonful of each.
-
That is all the questions regarding this body.

We are through with this reading.

R2. 1/4/33 Dr. Foerter’s letter:
ADOLPHE J. FOERTER, M.D. (letterhead) 126 NORTH MONROE STREET PEORIA, ILLINOIS
Mr. [4389] was doing very well the last time I saw him, which is about two or three weeks ago. Mrs. [4388] felt that she did not want to continue the treatments. While they are people of means, they have found themselves becoming more and more limited financially. If you feel that you want to make any comments on this relationship, I would be very happy to learn something from you, because the situations in this case are such that inharmony and misunderstanding could easily come about. As you know, the physicians are not working on a free will offering plan. Such a plan has no doubt its place, but being of a group of men who work by an entirely different scale, it would require a definite campaign of education on my part to change the customary relationship between patient and doctor as far as I am concerned. I had not sent a bill to Mrs. [4388] at the end of each month as is my custom, for knowing that her resources were small (from her own statements) I thot it best not to add any more burden to her all ready heavy load. I went even so far as to advance the money that we sent to the association at different times, also the radio active device procured from Mr. Salter. Naturally counting up my services which were a great many, and money advanced for various purposes, it was only mathematical to expect that the sum total would run quite high. So when she asked me around Dec. 1st to send her a statement up to date and became acquainted with what it was, she decided not to add any more to it from then on. I have called her up on the phone several times, and her reports were that Mr. [4389] was steadily improving. However he was still unable to walk, and his left hand was still paralyzed. He is as you will see, more or less bed ridden in that it requires some one to lift him out of bed and sit him in a chair. In addition to that he is practically blind, and Mrs. [4388] is very hard of hearing so this combination of conditions provides ample opportunity for the training of patience, faith, hope, and the consciousness of HIS PRESENCE. I feel very keenly the confusion and chaotic conditions that are permeating that part of my experience. The material that you have so splendidly put before the pupils in the lessons SFG I lessons] compiled by your group, has been a source of support and encouragement to me. There surely seems to be ample opportunity and necessity for an influx of new strength and vigor.
R3. 1/3/35 HLC’s letter to Dr. Foerter:
Dr. A. J. Foerter 126 No. Monroe St., Peoria, Ill.
Dear Dr. Foerter:
During the coming six months a group of our members will sponsor readings for a number of charity cases recommended by doctors and several series of readings devoted to general research subjects. We hope that we may have your cooperation in making these readings of real value.
We will appreciate it if you will bring to our attention any needy case on which accurate records can be kept and which in your estimation might be helped through a reading. We will also appreciate your suggestions and questions for subjects for the general research readings. We feel that the point of view of the trained mind will aid in bringing forth something of real and lasting value. We will be glad to send you copies of the series of readings in which you are interested. Four or more readings will be devoted to each subject.
It is not necessary that we receive your suggestions at once, so give the matter careful consideration. I would like to know if we may expect your cooperation in this matter as it is necessary for me to inform the sponsoring group of members of the number of doctors who will present suggestions.
With best wishes to you and your family for happiness during the coming year, I am
Sincerely yours, Hugh Lynn Cayce, Manager

Hugh Lynn Cayce c/o Association for Research and Enlightenment, Bead, Virginia
Dear Sir:
I thank you for your communication of Jan. 5 of this year relative to the proposition that a group of your members will sponsor readings for a number of charity cases. This is surely interesting and commendable.
You know probably better than I that the medical profession in general is so unfamiliar with this mode of approach of analysis or diagnosis and treatment of cases that is still exercises a prejudicial judgment on the whole matter. I had quite a vivid experience in this connection but I have never told anyone about it. It may, however, be well for you to know of it. I had a patient [4389], who suffered from a Hemiplegia due to cerebral Endarteritis. I was very much interested in the case and recommended to the wife [4388] that your Father be asked for a reading in her husband’s behalf. I had given her some of the literature I had received from you, but when I sent her a bill for my services she refused to pay it and threatened to turn said literature over to our medical society here. Her husband [4389], by the way is still living, although I have no information as to his condition, at the present. Well that is that. I’m taking care at present of a charity case that with out a doubt could be benefitted by a more interior understanding of the causes producing her condition, but the matter of approach with anything that difficult is so unusual to the average individual is somewhat delicate matter.
Wishing you all success and greetings to yourself and family, helpers and especially your father. I remain, with the best Easter greetings, as ever, your friend.
