This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of April, 1927, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [4390], via Miss [4586].

Time of Reading … Fourth Avenue, 3:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York, N.Y.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions; also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. Now, we find there are those conditions that prevent the full normal functioning of the organs in this body. They have to do with the torso, or mesenteric system, and the organs of the trunk portion of body, with reflexes to other portions.

4. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body. Not that the body is in that condition of not being able to carry on, in a way and manner, but not a normal condition exists, and the body labors under stress at times.

5. While many minor conditions exist reflexly, these, as WE find, cause the greater distress:

In times back there was received in the body that which caused first an adhesion in the left side, near the descending colon, and this prevented, then, the full normal functioning of the ejections from the system. Then, the adhesion caused, the organs of the pelvis gave some trouble in their normal functioning, causing some distress to the functioning of the mesenteric system, and producing inflammation, which reflexly affected the hepatic circulation. Then, with congestion, the menses became irregular. This has improved with the actions of the body, yet the nerve system becoming so overcharged, then assuming those conditions later that brought on distress in the functioning of the glands of the system - especially the ductless glands - with these conditions produced, then we had the breaking down, as it were, of the abilities of all of the glands to function in coordination - which, as is seen, is necessary, when it is considered that all of living organism is of such vibratory nature that each portion of the system must take from that assimilated to build through its plasmatic cell system that which will rejuvenate, rebuild, re-supply, or re-furnish the system with the necessary portions of the organism to rebuild or replenish themselves. With this adhesion we find, then, the system tended to be laggard in its elimination through these channels. Then we find, with the circulation disturbed, and with the nerve system under high tension, we had an excess of capillary circulation - hot and cold flushes over the body at times, headaches tend to disturb the equilibrium of the body, pressure seemed to be at the back of the head and on top of the head, depressions and nausea at times. These only reflexes of a general disturbance in the system, and sympathetically the whole organism out of balance, yet soon does the body recuperate from these conditions - for this is as of a sympathetic condition, and the body being over sympathetic in its functioning finds the reactions to and fro, as it were, to be very active.

In the general debilitation of the system, we find that the throat, bronchials, and the larynx, at times respond to this condition, and the fullness as is seen in the throat and about this portion of the body is a plethora, as is caused by the blood supply and the nerve system attempting to create an equilibrium from those conditions as are created by the unbalancing of the glands in the body, see?

8. No organic conditions, as we find, existent. No conditions where the plethora has taken on such conditions as to necessitate any condition, other than that of producing an extra amount of elimination, of relaxing the body sufficiently to overcome the lesions as exist in this lower dorsal and lumbar region, see? by stimulating there, and by creating such an equilibrium in the body that will overcome these conditions, see?

9. To do this, we would first, through deep manipulations, osteopathically given, correct the cerebrospinal nerve system. These should be given after the body has been thoroughly relaxed, either by dry or by wet baths, that tend to set up an extra amount of elimination through respiratory system - either by dry cabinet or heat cabinet, as given, see? Either one will relax the system. Then immediately the manipulations should be given. These, then, will reduce the condition and cause the general system to take on that proper amount of resistance to bring about the better eliminations in the body. Naturally, with the ELIMINATIONS being set up, the ASSIMILATION will be increased, see? and with increased assimilation the vibratory force as will be set by using that of the plain Radium Appliance, will clarify blood stream and create that vibratory force that will enliven the glands in the system to that extent where their normalcy will be brought about in the body.

10. We would take at least thirteen (13) osteopathic adjustments, and at least thirteen (13) such baths, or steaming or vapor baths, see? before the treatments are given, and while the body is relaxed the treatments should be given.

13. (Q) Is an operation necessary for this body? (A) Not under existing conditions, no. If she will carry out these as have been given for the correction of the condition, we see that none would ever be necessary, under conditions that would arise in the system.

R1. 4/16/27 Letter from [4390]: ”…The reading fits my condition, as I know it, perfectly, and I most certainly expect to carry out the suggestions made for the improvement of my health…”

R2. 5/28/27 Letter from [4390]: ”…My reading recommended that I take 13 Osteopathic Adjustments. These I have just completed, and am happy to say that although I am not feeling fit at all times, I do feel that the Adjustments have had the desired effect.

“I have also procured and have been wearing for the past two days, the Radio-active solar body pad which was suggested in the reading, and as I do not believe this Pad has had time in which to show any material difference in my physical condition, I think it best to wait for about six to eight weeks, when I will write and tell you exactly what effect this Pad has had. As I have much faith in your suggestions, I constantly have the thought that it will not be long before my physical condition will be ‘Aces High’…”

R3. 8/3/27 [4390] had a Physical Reading for brother [4391].

R4. 11/1/49 Letter from [4390] to EC, not knowing he had died: ”…About 15 years ago you have me a health reading, which I shall never forget since it put me on the road to health, after following the advice you gave. Would you arrange to give me another reading at this time?…”

R5. 11/12/49 [4390] requested extracts from E.C. readings re. lump on left breast.

R6. 11/28/49 Letter from [4390]: ”…This is to acknowledge and thank you for the enclosed extract [on cysts] which you so kindly forwarded with a view to helping a condition which is a source of concern to me.

“Since I believe that it may be just what will correct the condition, I hasten to inform you that I called at the Reilly Health Service on last Friday and arranged for a series of cabinet sweats and iodine fumes, to begin tomorrow, Nov. 29, 1949. It was so nice meeting Mr. Egan, who gave me every consideration. He was particularly interested in my visit at the behest of the Foundation, and told me some of the wonderful work they have done at a result of that contact.

“I shall most certainly write you, in due time, of my progress.

“It is regretted that I have lost track of my very good friend Miss [4586], who acquainted me with Mr. Edgar Cayce over 15 years ago…”

R7. 4/12/50 Letter from [4390]: ”…Since becoming a member of the Ass’n I have enjoyed the reading material you have so kindly sent to me.

“May I now ask that you send me, as soon as you can, the name and address of the manufacturer of the Radioactive Solar Pad that was recommended in my reading of many years ago by the late Edgar Cayce…” [GD answered it had been long since taken off market.]

R8. 2/12/57 Letter: “I have just read in your 2/4th letter about the Radio-Active and Wet Cell Appliances. Many years ago EC recommended the use of such an appliance for me, which I purchased and used as directed, with excellent results.” [GD’s note: The Radium Appliance, or Radioactive Solar Pad she used was entirely different; not a Radio-Active or Wet Cell Appliance.]

R9. 5/2/69 She renewed her membership, saying: “I had a Physical Reading by Edgar Cayce about 35 yrs. ago. [GD’s note: Actually 42 yrs. ago.] His specific treatment saved me from surgery.”

R10. 7/27/84 Miss [4390] wrote Charles Thomas Cayce, President of A.R.E.:

“I hasten to reply to your most welcome letter [Member-Gram] received today. It was a real joy! I thank you for reminding me that I had overlooked paying my dues. Check for $27 is enclosed.

“If it were not for my receipt of the many inspiring communications I receive from A.R.E. my life would be uneventful. Thanks again. I receive a great deal of help (spiritual and otherwise) from your messages. It was my pleasure to visit and partake of a wonderful experience in Virginia Beach about two years ago and join with a small group from Brooklyn. I shall long remember the extent of all the knowledge I came home with and have used to my great advantage.

“It is a privilege and great pleasure to write you that I have been a member of A.R.E. (and long before) for about thirty-five years. [GD’s note: She had her reading in 1927, under A.N.I. membership!] I have very fond memories of having had a physical reading [4390-1] from Edgar Cayce. This was responsible for saving my life from abdominal surgery, which two doctors had recommended. I passed this reading around to others where I knew it was appreciated.
