This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of August, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [4391], via sister [4390], via Miss [4586].

Time of Reading … 87th Street, 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Brooklyn, New York.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. Now, we find there are those specific conditions with the body that cause deflections throughout the nerve system and through the physical functioning of the organs of the body, causing distresses to the mental and physical being of the body.

4. These, then, are conditions and those to be met in the physical and mental forces of this body, [4391]:

5. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this is very good; and the action of same in system, save where deflections show their effect, is good.

6. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this and the effects of same are those conditions that produce the deflection and the existent physical disturbances as exist in the body.

7. There is seen that in times back there were those conditions existent in the system wherein bacilli attacked the nerves in their action, and in the centers that were attacked there is scar tissue of the nature that deflection to nerve supply and to the portions that [where] this deflection is caused there is also deflection of blood supply, and the gradual tightening of this tissue causes the gradual deflection of nerve supply and of blood supply of nutriment to those portions of the body, and to the portions also there is the lack of ELIMINATIONS, produced by deflection.

8. These conditions, as we find, are in the brachial plexus and in the 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th, cervical. The effect as produced to these by the weakening of the tissue as is supplied through the nerve branches to the face, to the throat, to the auditory system - the auditory and the vision suffer most. Hence there is produced that hardening of the optic nerve supply, that will gradually - unless relief is brought - bring to the lens of the eye that diffusion that brings distress, inflammation, and gradually the loss of reflected vision. In the reaction of this the general system suffers, yet these conditions are those to be met at the present time.

9. To bring about, then, the first reaction - and remember, with these applications, retraction will begin, and there will come discouraging periods - but would the body overcome, be one of the persistent and consistent activity towards seeking that in the physical that will bring about this correction for the body; for this may be brought about, will the correct action be taken, and the correct attitude be kept. Be thou, then, dependent upon Him who gave SIGHT to the blind, strength to the limber hand, and knees - life to those that were in darkness.

10. In the application physically there needs be applied wet heat to these cervical and dorsal [areas] - as have been given, and as show this tautness and this condition. While the body is relaxed form this damp or wet heat, manipulation - not adjustments but MANIPULATION should be made, that the nerves and the blood supply may seek their correct channels - even giving off greater power and strength to make and seek even NEW channels through tissue that has been in dis-use. These should be given gently EVERY day, and every third day DEEP manipulation, reaching to the third ventricle, third nerves of the face, and about the ear and eye. NOT pressure, but manipulation - FOLLOWING OUT the branches of each nerve, reaching from their base in the cerebro-spinal and sympathetic system to their exterior ends in neck and face.

11. Applying - every third day - after the deep manipulation - those vibrations of the Violet Ray, for only three minutes, to the cerebrospinal system, and with the eye applicator (being double) apply for one minute AFTER that applied to the body.

12. After thirty days we would give further suggestions for this body, [4391].

13. We are through for the present.

R1. 9/5/27 Miss [4586]‘s letter: “About [4391], I was able to get a doctor to treat him (through DEK) and we hope he will be reasonable. We had to get him glasses because the doctor said he thought he would have to wear them as well as have treatments. The poor boy is so grateful and it is wonderful how his outlook on things has changed. Will write you more on this later and elaborate on it.”

R2. 9/11/27 Miss [4586]‘s letter: “I know you would be gratified if you knew how [4391] is coming through. We put him in Dr. Kraus’ hands and I am to see Dr. Kraus on Monday evening. You see, [4391] cannot afford to pay full see so I have taken care of the whole matter with Kraus, and I hope he will be reasonable with [4391]. He is a dear boy and is SO grateful when anyone aids him. Kraus has been lenient with him in many ways because I have paid Kraus a few visits and explained matters as best I could.”

R3. 11/1/49 Sister Miss [4390] wrote enthusiastically of results she obtained from following her own reading but did not mention [4391].
