This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of July, 1928, in accordance with request made by self through Mr. Linden Shroyer.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Now, we find in the physical forces of the body there are those conditions that have arisen in the separation of eliminated, and eliminations as take place in the system, that which brings about the concentrated forces of the system in a manner that prevents proper eliminations from and through the normal channels. Hence the continuation of these gathering together of used forces or drosses of the system in accentuated and accentuation of this portion, brings about the distresses for the body. The needs of the system should be met at once, with this changing or with this bringing about that which will bring relief to the system from the distresses imposed upon the nerve forces through this coagulation IMPROPERLY taking place within system - hence causing the formation of these conditions as exist in the accentuation of a plethora condition created in portion. These, then, need to be met at once. Then when we have brought about that condition wherein there may be taken hold of the system, to prevent the body from returning TO this force, or from the condition to continue, or from the condition to be brought about in such a way and manner - we need to prevent now the necessity of operation - We would give, then, as this: First we would prepare capsules with this: This to be the dose in each capsule, see?

Balsam of Fir…1 minim, Oil of Eucalyptol…1 minim, Rectified Oil of Turp…1 minim, Heroin, or the equivalent in that of Essence of Morphia…1/80 grain, or Codeine…1/60 grain.

These to be taken not more than one each day, and apply immediately after the dose is taken, those vibrations of the alpine or the ultra-violet ray, especially over the central nervous system, or nerve system, radiating from the solar plexus. This we will find SHOULD - will the body respond - bring ease and relaxation to the body sufficient to, within six to eight days, be able to administer properties for the system that will bring about the more normal conditions for the body. Do that. Keep the light at sufficient distance. Do not set closer than twenty-two inches (22”) to begin with. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) How long at a time should the light be applied? (A) Not more than five to fifteen minutes. These lights may be given each day, following the dose - about an hour after dose is taken.

4. (Q) What nourishment should be given in the diet for the body? (A) That of easy assimilation, and a stimuli to the hepatic circulation, or tendency towards laxatives for eliminations in and through the nominal channels of the torso.

My dear Mr. Shroyer: -

We sent you the information asked for regarding Mrs. [4418]. I’m hoping it has been helpful. Of course, as you know from what was said, it would be very necessary to follow this up in a few days - and when you do, I think it would be better to make THAT reading by questions. Then we would be able to get a better understanding as to what it is working toward. Certainly hope it will be helpful and beneficial to her.

I consider it quite unfortunate that I was not at home when you called. Would certainly have liked to have talked with you. Mighty glad to hear from you. Certainly hope and trust things are going along nicely for you, that you are getting straightened out and in better shape. I suppose Miss Gladys told you they are actually working on the building. Of course it seems mighty slow, but we hope it will be done well and that it will fulfil its purpose; as a great many of us believe it has a place and a definite work to be accomplished through its channels. We had hoped that you would be able to get up and see us. I believe this is your slack season this year.

Don’t forget us. Let us hear from you whenever you have the opportunity.

Surely did sound good to hear your voice once more. It was so plain I could hardly believe you were way down in Miami. Hope it won’t be long before you can be with us and we can have some good old-time talks. You are a part of the great work, and it will never be complete until you are here and working with us. R3. 7/13/28 Linden Shroyer’s letter:

Miami, Florida

Dear Judge -

Received the wire & letter with reading & Mrs. [4418] has taken the treatment. I saw her last Sunday that was before I got your letter and just as I thought the next reading should be by questions so I’m enclosing the list we made out then. I talked to her husband on the phone & he said they didn’t know of any other so this is the complete list. I had the prescription filled & told the druggist not to make any variations in it. Had an M.D. friend of mine write the prescription on account of the narcotic.

When I talked to Gladys on the phone it was the last night I was living at the same house with the [4418]‘s, as the next day I came out to live at Mr. […]‘s for the summer until his family returns from North Carolina. That Saturday night everyone has gone to bed & I was sitting out on the front porch smoking a cigarette & worrying as usual when Mrs. [4418] came out suffering worse than ever she said. I asked her if there was anything I could do and told her that she knew what I had told her I would do if I were in a like condition. She said that was funny that I should mention that for it was exactly what she was thinking about so I said if she would truly & faithfully do as she was told I would immediately go down to the office & call up & so I did.

She is very much better & I hoped the next reading will so say. Mr. […] [[4418]‘s husband] told me he would give me the $25 for it the next time I saw him also pay me for the phone call & wire but it was worth the case & more to talk for only a few minutes with at least one of my dear friends there.
