This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 27th day of June, 1925, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [4531].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body. You will answer any questions relative to this body that I may ask you.

2. EC: Now, we find there are abnormal conditions with this body, and while these may be assisted, some conditions of abnormality will remain with the body; that is, become the normal conditions, and the body is some better than it has been in the past. This may all be assisted greater by the will force and the training of the awakening of the Divine forces from within. This comes more by the study and by mental development as is awakened from within, for the coordination of the nerve system, in physical and in mental, may be, through this manner, better brought into that position and condition wherein the response through the physical being will be gradually, through that manner of training self, or development of self in the manner to give that necessary in the physical for the building of the body. These, as we see, are the conditions as exist in the body.

3. The blood supply we find below the normal in rebuilding. This produced by the lack of the system being able to supply that of the nerve rebuilding cellular force by so much of same being taken up in the system, attempting to create leucocyte in the body, restrains, overtaxes, nerve system. Hence the many ganglions in the cerebro-spinal and sympathetic also that we find in that state of inability of the perfect control of same, or some becoming involuntary where they should be voluntary reaction.

4. In the functioning of the organs of the system, these we find under that strain of a system that is below normal in the vitality necessary.

5. Then, to bring the normal forces necessary to their reaction, we would apply those conditions as given, through the mental development as is found in following those lines as are found in John 14, 15, 16, 17. Know these so well that they become a part of the being.

6. Physically, apply these properties that may assist in creating the equilibrium necessary in the system.

7. In a two (2) gallon glass container, put one (1) gallon and a half (1/2) of rain water,

Plain Charcoal…1 pound, Heavy Sea Salt…1 pound, Copper Sulfate…1 1/2 pounds Sulfuric Acid, C.P…1 1/2 drams, Common Zinc…8 drams.

8. This solution, as we find, would charge self, yet we would charge same with high voltage, low amperage, 120 volts, with 4 amperes, and this would be charged at least one hour. While being charged and while in use, place in same a one pound opaque container of Tincture of Iodine. The poles should be one of copper (positive) and negative of nickel. To these poles, after same has been charged, would be attached small copper wires, insulated. To the end of these wires small thin plates that would be attached to the body. One of copper on copper pole, one of nickel on nickel pole. These would be attached to opposite sides of the body. One on wrist the other on the ankle. This should be attached every evening when the body is ready for retiring, and should remain at least one hour on the body.

9. Well too if the gentle massage is gone over the body each day, preferably in morning, that the body may gain an equilibrium in the circulation in nerve and muscular system, applying the mental forces in that direction as we have given, and we will find we will bring the nearer normal forces, increasing the strength and vitality, assisting the body in gaining more of the vision in that portion, or that eye wherein the sight has become so defective. All of these conditions [condition in eye?] should be cleansed, of course, with those properties that are antiseptics in their reaction, using, however, the antiseptic that is of the alkaline nature, such as is found in Glyco and in combination of the Glyco with the antiseptic oil.

10. (Q) Is this Glyco-Thymoline? (A) Glyco-Thymoline.

11. (Q) With what kind of oil? (A) Antiseptic Oil.

12. (Q) Is there a preparation of the Glyco-Thymoline and oil combined, or will the two properties have to be gotten and combined? (A) Gotten and combined. Use one one time, the other the other, you see.

13. (Q) How long should the battery be kept on the body? (A) As given.

14. (Q) Should the massage be osteopathically given? (A) Not necessarily. Rather the massage than attempting to adjust, for with the whole condition in the system, these we find very good, as to adjustments. The necessary condition is to produce coordination between nerve system and blood supplying system, rebuilding forces in body.

15. (Q) How may the body regain the average amount of nerve strength and endurance with which the average person is endowed? (A) As given.

R1. 6/27/25 EC sent her reading to [4531] along with an Association of National Investigators Questionnaire.

R2. 7/21/25 [4531]‘s letter to EC: “I received the reading which you gave me on the 27th of June and thank you for it. I am enclosing the form you sent which my mother has filled out.

“There are a few questions I would like to ask regarding your reading. You advise me to follow lines in John 14, 15, 16, 17. Am I right in taking this to mean the four chapters?

“We do not understand about placing the ‘one pound opaque container of tincture of iodine’ into the battery while being charged and while in use. Does that mean that the bottle should be uncorked while in the battery?

“It says ‘all of these conditions should be cleansed with those properties that are antiseptics, etc.’ Does this mean that I should be massaged one morning with the Glyco and the next morning with the Thymoline, or what does the word ‘conditions’ stand for? We do not understand question three and its answer. What is an antiseptic oil which we should use?”

R3. 7/21/25 [4531]‘s mother’s report on 4531-1: “I find the reading fits [4531]‘s condition as I see it. She tires easily as your reading showed. I am having difficulty in getting the battery as my druggist cannot help me. I shall appreciate any help you can give me in suggesting where to go to have one made.

“[4531] is a brave, courageous girl and will try to follow instructions faithfully.”

R4. 7/22/25 EC’s letter to [4531]: ”…As to the advice in following lines in John 14, 15, 16 and 17, as I understand it, this means these chapters in their entirety.

“As for the preparing of the battery, I will explain it to you as best that I know how. You would procure a two gallon or two gallon and a half glass container, or an earthen jar that has been glazed on the inside. In this you would put the quantity of water and other ingredients as is specified in the reading. Also the one pound of iodine in the container corked. That is, the iodine in a separate container, but put in the solution. The poles or bars as are given would extend above the top of the jar. Over this I would place a wooden board, with holes in same that the bars may protrude through same. Then the small insulated wires are attached to each pole, which in turn are attached to small plates that are attached to your body for the treatment. The iodine in solution becomes charged when same is charged by an electric battery, such as charge batteries for automobiles, with such ampere and ohmage as is given in reading. The solution, as I understand, would charge itself, but it is necessary to have same charged by this battery to obtain the effect and the charge from iodine in solution. Electricians may tell you that it is all foolish, that the iodine would get no charge, but when they have done this for you once, you will find they will change their opinion. I’m sure it will be simple for your druggist to put these things together for you, then carry same to a battery station and have same charged as given.

“Where it says also these conditions should be cleansed with those properties that are antiseptics, as I understand this, this is a wash for your eyes, and it means that it should be cleansed one time with Glyco-Thymoline, and the next time with an antiseptic oil. As to just what kind is meant here, I do not know, but I am sure your druggist or your eye specialist will be able to tell you of some oil that you may use for same.

“I’m in hopes now that this is explained so that you understand it. However, should there be any questions or any doubt in your mind regarding same, please do not hesitate to write me, or have your mother do so…”

R5. 10/5/25 [4531]‘s letter to EC: “I regret very much that I have no report to send you after the lapse of so many months since the time of my reading. I have found it more difficult than I had anticipated in complying with and following out the directions and advice found in the reading. I wish you to know, however, that my mother has made several efforts to obtain the materials for it and the battery itself both in this town and the neighboring city with no results, and since she has so many demands upon her time, I feel that I will be unable to do anything further about it.

“I am gaining in general health right along and although it is my desire to recover my sight I feel I am not strong enough to do the part which only I myself can do in achieving the end in view.

“Thanking you again for your reading and again regretting my inabilities and failure.”

R6. 10/10/25 EC’s letter to [4531]: “I am in receipt of yours of October 5th. I’m sorry indeed to note that you have been unable to obtain the properties necessary to prepare the battery that is to be used in your treatment. I appreciate your position, and it is for just such circumstances and conditions I have been so desirous for a number of years of having some set place where all of these preparations could be prepared, where the various mechanical contrivances as were suggested might be built, or in other words, where we might have an institution where every phase of the suggestions as are given might be carried out, for our research work shows by actual reports that more than ninety percent of all cases have been benefited or cured entirely, where they have been able to carry out the suggestions identical with those given.

“As you will see from this, the base of our operations is changed from Dayton, Ohio, to Virginia Beach, Va. It is with the end in view of building such a place as this, our locating here. The work itself has intimated and given that this would be the best place to work from, and we’re very much in hopes that in the next year or so we may begin the erection of an institution of this character. Naturally, then, we are gathering about us those interested in the various departments of this work, and we are in hopes we may centralize those here in the near future.

“Now, in reference to your condition and your troubles, since the last reading was given for you, I believe we have gained a great deal in our research as pertaining to mechanical treatment as related to the sensory organisms of the human body. I am wondering if this would not prove beneficial in your case. I would like very much to go further into this, especially as regarding your condition, but to be sure I wouldn’t undertake anything of the kind without your permission, or in fact without a request from you that I do this, but if this is agreeable with you, I’d appreciate it if you would make an appointment or let me know and I would arrange for the appointment for you. This, of course, please understand, is not that we desire further contribution (unless you desire to do so), but our real interest in your condition and desire to be of help…”

R7. 11/4/25 [4531]‘s mother’s letter to EC: “Your letter of October tenth received. In regard to my daughter [4531]‘s case, we both feel that if you could give her another appointment you may still be able to help her. Any time that is convenient for you will suit us. We thank you very much for manifesting an interest in my daughter’s case.”

R8. 11/9/25 EC wrote [4531] and her mother informing them of the appointment made for the reading and suggested they submit a list of questions.

R9. 11/12/25 [4531]‘s mother’s letter to EC: “My daughter [4531] will be here at her home at the time set for her appointment.

“In regard to questions to ask, I would like to know in what condition they find her eyesight. Are the optic nerves atrophied or only paralyzed? “Is it advisable for her to study music or any other subject, or would it tax her mind and strength so as to retard her improvement? Would any of the lately discovered curative light rays applied to the spinal column, help to strengthen the eyes through the nerves which extend from the eyes to the spinal column? Do you find any improvement in her health since the last reading?”

B1. 6/16/25 [4531]‘s letter to EC: ”…I lost my sight after several operations for frontal sinus and abscess on the brain in the summer of 1919, and now can see nothing out of my right eye, and just a little sunlight and color out of the other. Physically, I seem to be in good condition except for lack of nerve strength, which has been built up considerably during the past years of convalescence, but is not yet normal. To recover my sight is my great desire.

”…My brother first heard of you through Mr. Nicodemus, whom he met at the home of Mrs. Cooper and her daughter Dorothy, where they both lived several years ago in New York City…”

B2. 6/20/25 EC wrote [4531] and sent her the date and time set for the reading along with the application form.

B3. 6/22/25 [4531]‘s letter to EC: ”…I have no special questions to ask, my chief and earnest desire being to regain the average amount of nerve strength and endurance with which the average person is endowed and which I had before my illness, and what sight I can regain. I believe I have the three requirements which you specify the one asking for assistance should have, and I will do my best to carry out my part…”
