This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of January, 1928, in accordance with request made by his mother, Mrs. [629].

1. GC: You will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding this body.

2. EC: We have the body here. We have had this before, you see. Many changes have taken place in the physical forces of the body since last we had it. Most of these have been toward the improvement of physical conditions. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) Should the same treatments be kept up? (A) The same treatments should be kept up; though the solution should be changed and this added to the solution and to the treatment for the physical forces of the body. Make solution at least every three weeks, and make THIS change in the solution - or in the APPLICATION, not in the solution that gives off the charge; but in the anode or lead to the anode from the negative anode, make a lead of lead in center that will go through the solution of Spirits of Camphor, and this anode to be attached last to the body and attached to the solar plexus center. The positive attached first to the wrist, see? Use at least two ounces of Spirits of Camphor and let the lead go through - that is, in the form of a Y, or of a hairpin loop, that the discharge may be with those of the alcohol and camphor to strengthen and stabilize the body in its reaction.

We would also - at least once each week - have a thorough general manipulation of the body, osteopathically, and we find this will bring rest and more strength to the body.

4. (Q) What can the parents expect of this body in the future? (A) We will find the gradual development, strength, and the mental and physical development will come to this body. Being real strong in at least the third cycle, PROVIDED these conditions are met as developments go on in the body.

5. (Q) Will he walk? (A) He will walk, provided these conditions are kept up.

6. (Q) Will he talk? (A) Talk. We will find the reactions to the whole development, mentally and physically. We are beginning with those vibrations for the body that will supply the physical reactions necessary for resuscitation with the physical forces of that strength necessary to bring the proper reaction, proper coordination, between the cerebro-spinal and sympathetic nerve systems, and when this is established, also that which will add to the abilities of the coordinating with the mental forces for the sensory system. This includes, then, the functioning of all of sensory organs and of the mental control and reaction over same. Be patient - be persistent - be consistent, and we will bring the near normal development for this body.

7. (Q) Can he see at present? (A) At times, yes.

8. (Q) What can be done to get him to sleep properly? (A) This as we have given.

9. (Q) Does the body’s head hurt at night - is that why he wakes up and cries so every hour during the night? What can be done for this? (A) These properties as are being added for the coordinating of the system will overcome these conditions. The massage is to bring about coordination. When the body awakes there will be found that by massaging the body along the solar plexus center and near the base of the brain will bring relief to the body and bring better conditions, that the body may rest in the physical sense.

10. (Q) What can be done to stop the gagging and vomiting? What is the cause of this? (A) The inability of the body to bring coordination with the digestive forces of the body. The same massage as has been outlined is to bring the correction for these conditions; for, as we find here, those necessary coordinating centers in the cerebro-spinal and sympathetic nerve system have been awakened by those vibrations as have been given off for this body, see? Now we are adding those of the PHYSICAL reactions through the massage for the body that will bring the better coordinating, and we will find the body will come nearer to that of the normal forces through the continuation of these, until it becomes necessary for the changing for the physical forces of this body. Do that. We are through with this reading for the present.

R1. 1/20/28 EC’s letter to mother: “We enclose herewith the information gotten in the last rdg. Apparently, from this, [4613] is a great deal better than when you first started with the treatments. You will notice that the treatments are to be changed somewhat. There is also to be added manipulations as a part of the treatment. I certainly hope you will be able to get all of this carried out.

“In a little while now - possibly in the next 30 to 60 days

• we hope to have the physician associated with the work here at Va. Beach. I feel especially interested in this case and would like to have the doctor go thoroughly into it if it is agreeable to you and Mr. […] and I’d like for you to arrange - when he is here - for you to spend some time at Va. Beach with the boy, that the dr. might have him under close observation for 2 or 3 wks. at the time.”

R2. 1/26/28 Father [554]‘s letter: “Your ltr. and report regarding [4613] was very gratifying and it had put a new spirit into all who are concerned in this matter, including the nurse. We are going to follow instructions minutely and also your advice regarding the daughter [[4611] - See 554-3] as we feel much easier. Am enclosing ck. which is due you.

“When in N.Y. again I should love to see you.”

R3. 1/30/28 Mother’s letter to EC: “I received your ltr. of the 19th. Lost a few days trying to get our electrician and when he came he could not make out exactly what the changes are. So I am enclosing his drawing and the questions. Do you want a separate glass tube filled with camphor solution instead of gold solution, and to use the same solution now in conjunction with the camphor solution?

“What do you mean by alcohol and camphor?

“Please draw diagram of battery and leads. Will you please answer this at once so that [4613] does not miss so many treatments. I am trying to do everything you suggest and to the point. If you let us know when to bring [4613] down to Va. Beach we will try to bring him. I will again ask you not to delay this answer and thanking you… P.S. I was happy to receive the last letter. It gives us a ray of hope.”

R4. 2/16/28 EC’s letter to mother: “Yours of the 30th came while I was away, and I was on the go so much that although the secretary forwarded it to me it was returned to the office here before it caught up with me. I am sorry indeed of this delay but trust that we can yet be of help.

“I have tried to draw a plan and I hope the electrician can build this from it. First, you will see, the solution must be put in a glass or crock container with a wooden top over same so that the bars that are put in the solution will not contact anything so that it will lose its power - hence there should be insulation around the bar. When solution is made up as per the instructions, it should then be charged before it is to be applied to the body. There is no necessity of making an extra connection for the smaller plate on left side, but make two connections for the one on the right side

• you use a lead lead to go into the solution. The lead is used to change the current and also to accommodate the solution in such a way that the cork for the bottle may be trimmed so that it will pass through this in the shape of a hairpin. One application, as you know, is to be made of the gold solution in the proportion as given. The next application is to be of the camphor. Camphor and alcohol simply means you use SPIRITS of Camphor - which means the camphor has been dissolved in alcohol.

“Now I hope we have gotten this straight, and I feel very sure that the use and application of this - when properly prepared - will be of a great deal of help to [4613].

“Be sure and let me hear from you, for I assure you we are very anxious to be of service and certainly regret the instructions were not plain enough in the first letter.

“We are hoping we will have this institution ready by June. We will certainly let you know about it as the work progresses.”

R5. 5/15/28 Letter from mother to EC: “I am going to ask a favor of you and I hope you will grant it to me. We are taking my baby [4613] to the country in about a week or 10 days and I would have you give him a rdg. and let me know before we take him away. We will NOT BE ABLE to have an OSTEOPATH where we are going. Will it be alright to continue these electric treatments every day and perhaps exercise him a little ourselves?

“[4613] has terrible nights - wakes up 10 or 12 times a night and cries. He gets peculiar cramps sort of twitches pulls or draws the muscles of his face and neck.

1. What can be done for these cramps?
2. What can we do to get him to sleep BETTER?
3. Shall we continue the electric treatments?
4. Shall we exercise [4613]?
5. Is [4613] better?
6. Will [4613] walk soon?
7. Will [4613] talk?
8. What can be done for [4613]‘s right knee? (It is so stiff)

“If you can give [4613] a rdg. in say 4 or 5 days just let me know what time and day is convenient for you and I will see that he is home at that specified time so as not to lose the time by answering your letter.”
