This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 4th day of October, 1933, in accordance with request made by Miss [350], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 10:55 to 11:10 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.J. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [463].
-
Now, as we find, there is a complication of disorders in the general physical forces of the body, and these affect the varied portions in the system; for they tend to be of such a nature as to take the greater hold upon the manner of distribution of used forces in the body, naturally disturbing in the same way the effects that would be created by the attempts to resuscitate forces that are in distress in the body. (Well to understand the variation here.)
-
These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [463] we are speaking of:
-
The BLOOD SUPPLY shows the effects of the greater disturbance, in the manner in which there is carried in the system conditions that should be eliminated through normal channels; yet the muco-membranes and soft tissue in portions of the system are affected, not only in throat and ears and nose but in other portions where the emunctories and the lymph show their activity. Necessarily, then, the conditions are produced in the cuticle portion of the body. These have taken on various forms, so that they would be called (that is, the abrasions) different conditions, yet these are more from a conglomerate or heterogeneous condition than from specifics.
-
As we find, then, there will be required activities within the body that may bring about their effects upon the various active organisms in the system to create an equal balance, so that there may be better coordination through the assimilation and elimination in the system.
-
These conditions also affect the organs, though sympathetically as yet.
-
As indicated, the activities of the organs are in an unactive manner at times and at others overactive to the various conditions that are shown through the actions of the organs themselves; as the salivary glands, digestive system, heart’s action, pulsation, respiration, the activity of the liver, the kidneys, these all have their stress and strain. Not that the body doesn’t carry on in activities in many ways, yet these are shown as effects; and unless there are some changes the distress will become greater and hard to cope with or to eliminate from the system.
-
Then, we would give in the present a compound to be administered to the body, and after the whole quantity has been taken and the reactions have set up so as to be met by the varied conditions that arise, then we may give those changes necessary to create the proper balance between the sympathetic, cerebro-spinal and the active forces in the body as related one to another.
-
Prepare a compound as follows, mixed in the order given:
-
To 1 and 1/2 gallon of distilled water, add:
Wild Cherry Bark…2 ounces, Sarsaparilla Root…2 ounces, Yellow Dock Root…1 ounce, Burdock Root…1/2 ounce, Buchu Leaves…1 dram, Mandrake Root…15 grains, (This is not drams nor ounces, but GRAINS!) Dogfennel…1/4 ounce, Prickly Ash Bark…1/2 ounce.
-
Reduce this by simmering, or slow boiling (preferably in an enamel container, just so the enamel is not cracked), to 1 quart.
-
Strain, and while warm add 2 ounces pure grain alcohol with 1 dram Balsam of Tolu cut in same.
-
The dose will be half a teaspoonful four times each day, before the meals and upon retiring.
-
Be mindful that the diet contains little or no meats of any character, though beef juice or broths may be added to the diet for the strengthening of the body provided this is done in the noon meals or between the meals. A diet easily assimilated, and that is nerve and blood building; hence carrying iron and silicon would be the better, and the foods carrying phosphorus and iodine would be the more helpful for the body. Not too much proteins or starch, but those that are more of the mineralized reactions. Hence, this would be an outline, though it may be altered at times:
-
Mornings - citrus fruits, stewed fruits or the like.
-
Or alter to cereals, provided they are of the whole wheat variety, taken with milk and a cereal drink.
-
Or at times there may be taken buckwheat cakes or the like, but these should not be taken with any great quantity of syrup; though butter and honey may be used.
-
Noons - beef juices or broths, or vegetable broths and the like.
-
Evenings - principally vegetables that are well divided as with two or three above ground to one below ground.
-
After the whole quantity of the compound has been taken, then we would give further instructions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. Dear Miss [350]:-
We would suggest that you call one of our members, Mrs. [337] at the Hotel …, New York City, and get the name of her relative or friend who has offered to fill our prescriptions, but whose name we cannot remember right now. He is a druggist in New York.
Sometimes it is hard to get the prescriptions filled, so it it much easier to have a druggist who is in sympathy with what we are doing.
Sincerely, GD
R2. 10/12/33 Miss [350]‘s ltr.: “I want to thank you very much, both on my own behalf and that of Mr. [463], for your prompt rdg. He will have the prescription filled by Mrs. [337]‘s friend at the earliest possible moment. He is eager to try it. The rdg. fitted him in ways I did not know of, so it was very interesting altogether.”
R3. EC later told us that at the beginning of the rdg. for Mr. [463] he saw wonderful orations, speeches, acting, drama, etc. - apparently a Roman setting.
