EC: We have the body of Mrs. [464] here. This we have had before. Now, we find a great many changes in the physical functioning of the body since that we had here before. Most of these are for the improvement of the body, and would there be [if there would be] carried out that which would continue to relieve the tautness and release the nerve strain through the lower dorsal and lumbar region, we see no reason why the body shouldn’t gain almost its normal equilibrium. While the conditions are so much bettered, well that these conditions be carried out and relieve the body to the extent that the conditions would not re-occur, for the blood supply throughout is much improved, and only with the re-occurrence of the slowing up of the circulation, as responsive through the vegetative or mesenteric system, or both, these will continue TO improve; with the improving of the blood supply naturally the heart’s action is bettered, as is also the digestive system. This, however, the digestive system, would be the first to go back to abnormalcy to the extent as to bring resultant or responding conditions as would bring distress. The body finds that with these changed conditions, much easier for the body to gain full control of the locomotaries - walks better - STILL the shortness of breath, the heaviness as comes from overtaxation or over-eating, are from the respondent condition of those subluxations as have been noted in the lower portion of the cerebro-spinal system. These, themselves, show much improvement - but they should be carried out so that the conditions would be continuing on the improve. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is the matter with my fingers? They dent in, stay dented in, and are sore when I press on anything hard. (A) That’s the age - and the respondent condition in the capillary circulation, from the subluxations as exist in the lower dorsal and lumbar region.
-
(Q) What is the condition of the blood? (A) This is much bettered.
-
(Q) The circulation? (A) Much better.
-
(Q) Diet? (A) Diet? Well, that’s up to the body. The DIGESTIVE system is much better. The diet, as changes come - these may be made according to those conditions as the body carries forward in the system. With the changes as are coming about through the removal of the pressure and of the stiffness along the cerebro-spinal system, the diet may be changed to meet the needs of the conditions, and replenish the system, see?
-
(Q) Eliminations? (A) Bettered - yet not wholly in full accord with a normalcy necessary for complete eliminations and assimilations.
-
(Q) Liver and kidneys? (A) Liver and kidneys show some improvements. MUCH improvement over some conditions as have existed in the system. These are still under the stress and strain of those conditions existent in the cerebro-spinal system. This has been given. Make the corrections osteopathically, by the applying of the heat and of those vibrations that will set up reaction through the body with the corrections, and we will find the body will continue on the improve. We are through for the present.

R1. 5/29/29 Letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
“I received the reading and the folder. NOW you have done it. I am furiously jealous of those patients who have the good luck to spend their time in such a heavenly place. I would pretend I was sick to get there if I had the money. To sit on that verandah & look out over the ocean. Who could want a lovelier view? It must be grand! I was all excited when I saw the pictures [See Source File Key #4874 re Cayce Hospital Brochure under 4874-3.] & I was so pleased to make the photographic acquaintance of yourself & Dr. House. I congratulate you, I do indeed, for the wonderful achievement and may you live long to keep up the good work, and enjoy GOOD HEALTH yourselves, for it really is the most valuable possession any one can have. And good luck to all of your patients. I know that you will do all in your power to help these sickly unfortunate creatures. Goodness only knows they need a friend like yourself.
“As to my reading, it is very encouraging but there still seems plenty to do. I have worked hard & intend to keep on working. I am getting my mind cleared up on a lot of things I had the knowledge but was afraid to put it into practice. When I was in Bellville I would walk up & down the corridor trying to get a natural easy swing to my walking to even up the muscles, & release the tension of the nerves which I knew existed in my HEAD. Some times I would forget & spare myself. I would correct myself and start all over again. You have no idea how terribly mean & good Mr. Keith was to me. He promised Mr. [[…], husband] that he would have me climbing all the high hills around Bellville before he would allow me to come home. I looked out on the hills with doubt and fear in my heart thinking I could never do it. I found myself doing it, gaining confidence & strength every day. I only hope it will last with me.
“Mr. Keith wrote to me & told me I could never take the treatment alone. I found that out. I do it now though. I never eat breakfast - nobody at the Bellville House did. One day, dinner & supper, next day only dinner. I told Mr. Keith he was trying to starve me. It is so much easier to do disagreeable things when we have company doing the same things. We had a lot of misery & we had a lot of fun. I haven’t the diet down right yet, but I am trying. I am getting treatment for my liver now. I had a medical examination by Dr. Young, another examination by a Chiropractor. He used a little instrument on my spine that registered every contrary nerve. He found one set leading to the female organs, wrong! One set to the liver, others to the stomach. That would not be difficult since they are all wrong anyway. But it is a wonderful instrument! I was surprised. The reading still says Osteopath. Well Mr. Cayce, I am of the opinion that it would be necessary for me to get the treatment where the advice is given as Dr. House is the only one that could understand the situation and I cannot make the trip just now. Much and all as I would like to, as the reading does not discourage the present mode of treatment, I shall continue this for I HAVE gained much in the 10 weeks I have used it. Dr. House has one of those adjustable tables to work on, they are fine. I must close now wishing you all the best of success.”
Yours sincerely, Mrs. [464]
“P.S. I hope you will excuse my pencil. I came up here in the bedroom after the Emetic to lie down which I am supposed to do for 5 hours. I have been up & down stairs 3 times only. The mail carrier, the baker & the ice man all need attention & I am the only one here.”
R2. 8/27/29 “No, I have not followed the last instructions from the rdg. I have been so busy with the tr. from the sanitarium in Bellville, O. that I did not go any further, as the rdg. said my condition was so much improved in every way that I just kept on with it. Although I am not gaining now so fast, neither am I losing what I gained…
“I would advise anyone who is in doubt to have you diagnose their trouble, even if they do not follow the advice given, for the diagnosis proves correct in all cases, and if the tr. does not bring results it is no doubt the fault of the patient, as in my own case I was not willing to give up a habit…if our constitution cannot stand the use of tea, coffee, or liquors of any kind, we must give it up…if I had given up the tea habit and followed the advice as given, I feel confident that I would have improved from the start.”
R3. 11/15/29 Letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
“Can you spare the time to give me another reading? It seems there are times when everything goes wrong and I am all stirred up, no life, no pep, no ambition. I still hold to the good I gained in the spring but it goes no further. I am at a stand still. I went to church two weeks ago and I was so nervous I wanted to scream. Everything was so quiet & I had to sit still. I was in agony. I take my hikes down in the park, but still I do not fully recover my equilibrium, although I am a lot better. I give full swing to my body while walking and feel better for it yet, there is something still wrong somewhere. I wish I could go to the hospital & be healed as I should, but that seems to be out of the question. The readings never give promise of a full recovery, a near normal, so there must be something that can’t be cured altogether. I have been with you time & again for nearly 4 years.
“I hope things are getting along alright with you & the work. It is better to have the patients right there where they get just exactly what they need. When I was down in Bellville, Ohio there was no fooling around. We took what was handed to us - eat or not eat. The treatment went on regardless of our feelings. Some parts I just dreaded but that made no difference. I had to do it any way. The discipline was good and the treatment was fine for me but my money ran out.
“I suppose you are very busy too busy to read long letters & weird tales of woe. So I will close.”
With best wishes, Yours Sincerely, Mrs. [464]
