This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of January, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [464], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 3:35 to 3:45 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio.

1. HLC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [464]; this we have had before.

3. As we find, while some changes from the acute condition are shown, these should be attended to more thoroughly; else we may have very serious results from the accumulations and the poisons that are arising, and that have arisen, in the general physical reactions.

4. We find that the condition arises from an acute attack of intestinal flu; and, as combined with the congestions will, unless there are measures taken, leave such drosses as to be disturbing to the body.

5. First we would apply the Castor Oil Packs over the abdomen, from the lower part of stomach to the lower portions of the caecum, extending over the whole right side of the body. Have at least three thicknesses of flannel, saturated in the Castor Oil - not just poured on. Not so hot as to burn, but warm. Then, after the padding to prevent soiling the clothes or linens, apply the electric pad, and let this keep as warm as practical for the body to stand, for at least an hour.

6. Then take two heaping teaspoonsful of Sal Hepatica in a glass of water, as hot as the body can take it; and then a whole glass of water afterwards.

7. After this has acted thoroughly, then take for a few days five to six drops of Syrup of Squill (each day) as a laxative for the mucous membranes of the throat, lungs and chest.

8. Then be careful with the diet, that there are not too heavy foods taken.

9. Keep plenty of rest.

10. Keep the body and especially the feet warm.

11. Have easily assimilated foods, - not too much of sweets nor too much greases; but such as cereals, soft scrambled or boiled eggs, a little whole wheat toast or milk toast or things of such natures that are easily digested - for a few days.

12. Thus we should find the recuperative forces from the poisons experienced by the body.

R1. 1/13/41 “I rec’d the rdg. today… I shouldn’t have sent for it with you sick yourself, but I didn’t know what I was doing to you. I had a spell of asthma and bronchitis - I had the doctor come - he gave me some medicine for the asthma and some pills for my heart, and they both upset me terribly. I was thrown completely off balance. I took a dose of Castor Oil and 2 tablets a doctor gave me for jaundice. Too much strong medicine. I had a narrow escape of going blind. As it is I cannot read and have an awful time writing, and a bad scare besides…” [“Dr. says this is the viscous type of flu of 1918.”]

R2. 1/14/41 “I have taken the Castor Oil Packs once and the Sal Hepatica once, and what is left of me is as bitter as gall. I must be full of poison still.”

R3. 1/31/41 “I used the suggestions just once, then [son-in-law, [2342]] came home with the flu, baby caught it from him, then [daughter] caught it, and I couldn’t wait on myself. So there I was stranded. I don’t think I had intestinal flu, although I do have intestinal trouble, not on the right side but the left, and it is giving me a bad time… I have mentioned this trouble I have in my left side when writing for a rdg. but there was nothing given about it. When it troubles me I nearly lose my mind. It just takes the life out of me… My eyes are still a little dim but some better. I can read a little.”

R4. 2/18/41 “I am in the throes of a nervous depression on acct. of that illness I had hit me right at New Year’s time. Nerves, high blood pressure, intestinal trouble that nearly upsets my reason. I have no appetite. I force myself to eat, just to keep going [I lost 50 lbs. in a few days - I wasn’t sorry for that]…my heart has been on the rampage… Can anything be done for this head and heart trouble and for my eyes? …Will you please tell me what toxic poisoning is? …When I had what I thought was pus I took Bi-So-Dol at your suggestion and the discharge cleared right up, and I haven’t had it since. I know I have to fight nerves, but this head and heart trouble is too many for me.”

I took medicine the doctor gave me for my asthmatical bronchitis, along with that and some for heart - pills - digitalis - 3 a day, then 1 a day. I don’t know if it is me or the other fellow. I have a mean way of jumping around; now, you see me, now you don’t. My blood pressure is high. Nothing seems real…pills and medicine poisoned me - it has left me weak and not all there…”
