GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes. As we find, the body is a great deal under the distress and disturbance of toxic poisons through the system; lack of proper assimilation of the foods taken; the excesses of the activity of the upper hepatic circulation as with the lower hepatic; and the inflammation through the clitoris and to the bladder.
-
In the present, we find that colonic irrigations should be taken sufficiently often to rid the body of the poisons and the mucous through the colon. These should be gently given, but over a long enough period, regularly; and we find this will reduce the blood pressure, reducing the toxic forces. Have the water body-temperature that is used for such irrigations. We find that these should be given once a week until there is no more indication of mucous from the evacuation of the colon.
-
Also, once or twice a week, regularly, we would use a mild solution of Atomidine as a douche; this would be beneficial. The proportions would be a teaspoonful of Atomidine to a quart of body-temperature water; to be used only in a Fountain Syringe Douche, for the vagina, you see, to remove the pressures from those conditions which disturb the system.
-
We find that also a VERY mild solution used through a catheter to wash out the bladder and the tube to same would be beneficial; this in the proportions of about ten drops of the Atomidine to a pint of water - body-temperature; used once or twice a week, see?
-
These as we find will bring better influences and conditions for this body.
-
In the diets, - whatever the body finds will assimilate, this would be aiding to same.
-
After each meal take about a quarter teaspoonful of Bi-So-Dol in half a glass of water.
-
Then after the second or third day we would take occasionally (two or three times each week) half a teaspoonful of Bismuth and TEN DROPS of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin stirred in a glassful of water. Dissolve the Bismuth before adding the Pepsin. This would be taken after the meal, also.
-
Do these, if we would bring the better forces for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 10/31/39 “I surely do appreciate getting the rdg. so soon. I am lying on the bed now too weak to move around very much. Although I am fully dressed. The doctor is coming sometime today to take the rubber ring out that he placed to hold the bladder up. I don’t feel any effects from the ring. I can follow most of the suggestions in the rdg. I started as soon as I got it. Catheters are not on sale any more - we can’t buy one. They have been used for a very wrong purpose so much that they shut down on the sale of them, so that is out.
“Some days I work around all day slowly, and then I will not be able to do anything for a few days more. Queer business. I am weak all over, from the crown of my head to the soles of my shoes. I will let you know how I make out.”
R2. 11/10/39 “Some days I feel lots better, then again I am like a ship without a rudder. I am taking the medicines, not the colonics yet - hope to get at it all soon. I did some work yesterday and find myself lame today as a result… I was scrubbing woodwork…
“[Husband] is back to work again, a permanent job… His new boss helped him get earphones or an instrument to make him hear, so we all are glad of that, for he was an awful trial, he shouted at us all the time.”
R3. 11/27/39 “I am not feeling so good, having a bad time with my bladder today, the worst spell I have had since I first got up. I suffer terribly with my head at times, just seems as though my forehead is pushed down into my eyes and I can scarcely see, and when I am like that I am no good. I am so tired of it all… I am taking the Bi-so-dol and the other things that you told me to take. I guess I don’t eat right.”
R4. 1/16/40 “I am on the shelf with asthmatical bronchitis, and my heart on the rampage. This is not a happy household. I followed the directions given me in the last rdg. as near as I could except the colonic irrigations. The medicine gave me fierce headaches and I had to quit. The rdgs. always say I have so much poison in my system. I would like to know just what that toxic poison is anyway. I am no better than I was when I first got out of bed in Aug. Seems I never will be.”
R5. 1/19/40 EC’s letter: “Am surprised at your being as well as you are, taking the medicine suggested and not the colonics. Can’t you give these yourself? Get you a colon tube - costs little - and use on your Fountain Syringe. Where there is trouble of any kind that of itself produces conditions to be eliminated, unless they are eliminated toxic poisons are caused - these in turn produce pressures on the nerves of the system, and all sorts of trouble. Am pretty sure that is just what is causing the heart trouble, for of course the pressures cause a disturbance in the circulation, and that is, of course, the heart activity. Try that. Use the saline solution as suggested with the high colonics. Give them to yourself. You can, and I’m sure it will help. Of course the medicine gave you the headache, without the colonic irrigations - for they are supposed to work together.”
R6. 1/22/40 “Just rec’d your ltr. and was glad to get it, and the advice given. I have been reading the last rdg. I had from you and studying it out again, and your ltr. clenched it. I will start over again and see if I can accomplish something this time worth while, for I do feel perfectly rotten… I am not blaming you for not getting results from the tr. when I haven’t followed out directions accurately.”
R7. 2/2/40 “I don’t seem to improve any under the treatment.”
R8. 2/13/40 EC’s letter: “Stick to the tr., you will see results. Use some of the Castor Oil Packs also, that will help.”
R9. 2/28/40 She requested a Life Rdg. for her daughter, Miss [2144].
R10. 3/27/40 “I have a vaporizer and use the ‘croup cup’ fumes you gave me quite a while ago in a rdg. when my breath is short.”
R11. 8/29/40 She requested a Physical Rdg. for her son-in-law, Mr. [2342].
R12. 9/23/40 “After [2144]‘s marriage on 9/28/40, [2342] and I are going to start painting upstairs all the woodwork. It is dirty white now. It will be cream color next time, and then the paper hanger comes. Oh boy!!”
R13. 12/31/40 Letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
“I have made two resolutions for the New Year. I still have a few hours of skulduggery left - and as I am sick in bed I have no occasion to make use of any bad language or call my neighbors bad names. My resolutions are no swearing or calling any one any bad names, and when I told [[…], daughter] she gave me a scornful look and said ‘you know right well, the first time you catch sight of Mrs. Yitherington, you will forget all about resolutions and the air will be full of brimstone.’ But [[…], daughter] didn’t stop to think that I have lived with a Scotchman for 45 years and he is the cause of all this skulduggery. I bet you Mrs.
Yitherington is Irish of the fighting type - some what of a liar and with a few screws loose here and there. She lives next door and gets on my nerves. And with the bad language I learned through battling for my rights with [[…], [husband]. The sight of her is like shaking a red rag at a bull. So I began to take stock of myself. Seeing that it is the time of the year to make resolutions, hoping that by diligent practicing I could over come my tendencies of the use of expressive language on short time order. Such, as never mind what. My greatest fear will be forgetfulness and a throw back. I am sorry to say that I lack spiritual refinement. I caught a cold. I can never tell you how I found myself in the throes of asthmatical bronchitis that horrible sickness Bee [daughter] called the Dr. in and I don’t know which was the worst - the sickness or the effects of the medicine. However, I am better and putting in the long hours writing letters to-day. I am tired & weak from so much gasping for breath and sitting up nights with myself.
“We had a nice Xmas as Xmas’ go. The kids were happy - they got so many nice things. The older folks in our family do not exchange gifts - we only make Xmas for the children and some poor folks we know. You know what the Lord said ‘Don’t give to those who have but to those who have not.’ So that is what [[…], daughter] & I did. Oh yes, I did give [[…], husband] a pair of fur-lined dress gloves. He acted so queer about Xmas as he always does. I felt like taking them away from him, but afterall [[…], husband] can’t help being Scotch so I let him keep them, seems as though he liked them pretty well in his dumb way. Well they are spiffy gloves if I do say so myself. Not a hole in them anywhere or a damaged spot, like as if the moths had been in the fur. They were perfect. They set me back considerable. [[…], daughter] broke the news to him and he said ‘they are too good for me.’ I thought so myself taking all things into consideration. But - after all, [[…], husband] is [[…], husband]. There ain’t no more like him, thank goodness! So I hope he enjoys wearing the gloves.
“The next time you hear from me my letters will be soft and smooth with delicate wording. Do I hear you say I hope not?
“Happy New Year to all,”
Yours sincerely, Mrs. [464]
R14. 1/2/41 EC’s letter:
Dear Mrs. […],
“Thanks for yours of the 31st - glad you are feeling some little better at least.
“Your New Years’ resolutions are very interesting to say the least - and tho you might under stress as Bee says skip over and let loose before you realized it. The try is the thing - am very sure for most of us if God doesn’t count our trying- for-righteousness - we will all fall very far short - but am persuaded HE does just that. So am sure you will find a great deal of fun also in your experiment - may we call it, but am sure a lot of help will come to you for the try.
“We spent a bit of an anxious Christmas here - the day before Christmas the oldest of the boys received his notice to report for Army duty on the 10th of Jan. Well you can easily guess what that did for his mother - to say nothing of myself
- as believe am supposed not to have any feelings or sentiment myself but undertook to try and get him deferred for a time to get his work up here and help the young man here who is writing a story of my life - and they very kindly did - give him until June. That came to on the 28th so-so- that is that.
“Yes - many hundreds of people remembered us with cards and words of encouragement, for which am very thankful - guess have been the means of helping some all these couldn’t be fooling themselves. One of the boys the one who works for the Electric Co. made quite a showing for his Christmas - as well as getting a nice advance with his Co. He remembered each member of the family very nicely - gave his Mother a Master Mixer and it works fine - think I will try and see if I can make a cake on same - or stir it up with it. Have never tried one - but guess there has to be a first time. Pretty nice your remembering Mr. […] - am sure he appreciated it - even tho he didn’t say much - my one New Years’ resolution is to eat what ever they set before me - with out remarks as to what would like to have had - guess the Madam does get tired of complaints - so here is hoping no more from me. Don’t know how long will hold out - can dream - and try at least can’t I?
“Had no children here this year for Christmas and missed it very much - How far is 4505 Behrwald Ave from you - a Mrs. S. Smith lives there I believe and that is where the young man we think so much of is visiting - with his Mother, Mrs. Boyd Davis - the child is T. J. Davis. Am sure have spoken of him to you - if not too much trouble wish you would call them - just tell them or Mrs. Davis you are a friend of mine and am sure she will be glad to hear - and possibly she can come by would like for you to see that boy - he is about 4 1/2 now but we all about worship him here. He is a nephew of Miss Davis, my Secy. She has been my sec. for 17 years and has lived in the house with us all these years - so must be very nice - or we very nice - to have gotten along without any scraps.
“Just hope you have a lot of fun holding on to your resolution - and soon if not already feeling a lot better physically - remember me to all. Let us hear again real soon.
“Haven’t forgotten am due you something yet - hope to get to it real soon now.
“With all good wishes - and hoping all the good things you have wished for come to you with the New Year”
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce

B2. 10/24/39 “I can’t go on like this. Surely there is something I can do for myself to improve conditions. I don’t feel as good as I did when I first got up. So much high blood pressure and dippy feelings. So I decided to call on you again for help. After all I have gone through with I am still full of poison. If I don’t eat I am sick and if I do eat I am sick… Although I have been out of bed since the 2nd wk. in Aug. I don’t gain hardly any at all. If I call the doctor in he will give me pills for the high blood pressure and they will only make me sick, and there will be a reaction, as I imagine they are a heart remedy. One doctor told me my liver made too much bile and not enough blood. Another doctor told me that the gastric juice and the bile in my stomach would not assimilate and digest my food. All that could be true and a lot more besides, by the way I feel… Do you suppose your spirit guide would know why my prayers are not answered? This whole life and its way of working is a mystery to me. You may ask your guide the whys and wherefores of all this misery in my body - liver, kidneys and bladder, stomach and bowels are all on the rampage.
“Enclosed is $10. Don’t faint. I won’t be there to catch you.”
