GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for the further improvement of same, and you will answer any questions I may ask you regarding same.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. This we have had before.
-
Now, much may be said regarding the changes in the physical conditions of this body from that as we have had here before. Aforetime we have found that the condition existent, produced by the improper incentive from conditions existent in the cerebro-spinal centers, has brought about varied changes in the reactions, produced by functioning of the organisms of the body. These - by the varied conditions that have been used and applied - have been corrected in a great measure, and the conditions that became acute from this misdirected energy have been brought near to normal, while those impulses and the centers from their radiation have NOT been entirely relieved. Hence we find in a measure the body nearer NORMAL than we have had it before; yet there are many conditions that may arise unless the proper adjustments and the proper alignment is brought to the system. Those weaknesses, those inclinations as have been brought about by this improper relaxation of one organism and its functioning to another, may return - but were these corrected properly, and the conditions brought as near normal in the lumbar and sacral and dorsal region as has been the conditions that are PRODUCED by same, we would have a near normal body.
-
Now we find from the return of the inability to feel stable, or the return of inertia to the system, so that the body at times easily feels as if slangly expressed - all the starch were taken out of it and it becomes almost as a rag - this the return of improper impulse to the various portions of the system. That to be watched the closer is the tendency of the kidneys and the bladder to be easily inflamed or overcharged by the impulse of the system to turn too much elimination through that channel. Hence that as has been given as to how the proper coordination of the eliminating system should be established, and should kept established; yet one making the adjustments and stimulating by the proper activity of the muscular forces as control those centers where corrections are made in the lumbar, sacral, and lower dorsal region, would bring about the near normal condition for the body.
-
Do not leave off altogether those of the medicinal properties in the ragweed, though these may be reduced at times, and at others will be necessitating that an increased or the normal doses be taken.
-
Do not go back to just any character of diet for the body, yet TRY - as it were - the various conditions that will bring more strength to the body, but use CONSISTENCY with the corrections as are being made. Better had it be that that one, or whoever is in charge of the corrections, guide and direct the character of the diet by watching closely how the system responds in the various adjustments and treatments that are given.
-
Correct those conditions in the lumbar, sacral and dorsal region, so that we do not have a return either of too much or too little capillary circulation, so that we do not have a clogging up or a choking up of the liver, or a condition of too much sugar from the pancrean forces, or too much inflammation to the lower intestines by auto-intoxication, or that there is the tendency of the glands in the lower portions of the body (false pelvis proper) to become too slow or too active in their operations or functionings. Keep the adjustments made until there is stability in the perfect alignment of the cerebro-spinal system itself, and well that the baths (steam or hot water) be occasionally taken, that the system may be kept cleansed PROPERLY, and that heat (wet heat, preferably packs of salt - or saturated solution of salt and water, combined occasionally with soda or with salts) be applied to the spine just before the adjustments are made. Keep this up. Be persistent. Be consistent - and we will bring the near normal forces for this body. Do that. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) In giving the osteopathic manipulations, should this new zone system for treating the nerves and spine be applied? [Method of Dr. Joe Shelby Riley which Dr. Forquer wishes to try.] (A) Very good. This adds particularly to the increase of nerve energy by the oxidization created by this system and oxidization taking place within the system.
-
(Q) What is the trouble with the eyes? (A) Purely reflex.
-
We are through with this reading.

R1. 3/25/28 Sunday afternoon, 3:30 Letter:
Dear Mr.Cayce
I received the reading o.k. and I hardly know what to say. My heart dropped to zero at the so many (near normal) expressions for I do so long for good health. However may be you did not mean what came to my mind like an electric shock. For the most part - it sounded good, even to be near normal, which I certainly do not feel like it or within a hundred miles of it. At the present writing my folks wanted me to go for a ride but I just told […] my husband quietly that I did not feel equal to it to-day as my back is so weak and my legs are like soft rubber. He says it is because I have not been eating enough. Well it is like this, rather than eat the wrong thing I have gone without and I have starved my body after the scolding your last reading gave me for I am determined to get - (near normal) if there is any possibility of accomplishing such a condition. I am in the hands of a very good Osteopath & I do not think it will be necessary for him to write to Dr. House although I think it is very good of you to offer. I do not get any help from my family because they do not know what to do & they are not here when I need them any way. My Osteopathic Dr.’s name is Forquer ‘of French descent’, & he is always studying and improving his work & he is very much interested in my case & I am very glad to have someone who is right at hand. I know how & why to vary the rag weed doses and I can see a change in my system for the better as a result of taking it. And I am learning the different kinds of foods to leave strictly alone. Parsley is one & so is asparagus. Cabbage is another & so is cauliflower. Although they are blood purifiers, the cabbages, they are physic and so are beets. So you see it is quite a problem to try out the different foods & find their values according to one’s own system. All those vegetables above mentioned may be just exactly what some one else may need. Lemons taken without sugar are a physic too, so I have to be very careful in my lax state. The diet is my greatest problem. I can manage the rest alright. I have all kinds of books on foods & food values & combinations.
You should have told me to leave spinach lettuce and all green vegetables strictly alone. So my CONTRARY SPIRIT would hanker for them immeasurably. Did you ever tell a child not to do a certain thing & find that, that certain thing was THE THING he determines in his mind to find out all about it the first chance he gets. So it is with my vexacious appetite. No spinach, you say - now wouldn’t some nice green fresh spinach taste, you say, just lovely. I have heard my mother tell that Grandfather Yree was the contraryiest man that ever lived & I happen to be his grandchild & you know the sins of the fathers are visited unto the 3rd and 4th generation. So, is it any wonder when you tell me to eat spinach, my tongue hangs out for warm berry pie. And I grieve in my soul because it cannot be so and my spirit languishes in defeat & my legs droop & my spine jellies. Oh, Worra Worra if we could only live without eating.
It will probably be quite some time before I will have to have another reading if I am to keep up the Osteopathic treatments until there is a near normal feeling unless I get scared over something. I am supersensitive very much to my disgust and I get everything. Some bodies are fashioned like these in shipments that are made to detect every vibration of the earth’s surface, I would rather not be quite so sensitive or psychic. I am not developed enough to be of any use, but just an alarmist to my own peace of mind.
I will close now, don’t you think it is time? I wish very best wishes in the new enterprise. I hope your first patient in the new hospital will be one that will respond to all treatments and come out WELL and happy and good luck of the same kind will follow ever after. So your joy in your work will be complete.
Best wishes to all, Mrs. [464]
R2. 3/28/28 Letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I wrote you Sunday that I could not go out riding with the folks because I felt so weak. Monday night - I collapsed, and Mr. Y. was so rip snorting mad that he called up Dr. Evans [Dr. Evans, M.D.] and the Dr. came in next morning, and I got a good bawling out from him & all parties concerned. In the meager diet I have been on for the last 3 months, Dr. said you should never go on a diet unless you have instructions from a doctor & observations taken of cause & effect and you have done yourself a lot of damage & it is your own fault. Well, he is right in a way. The dieting was alright but I did not eat anything where the proper thing was not there & of course my strength gave out entirely. So now I can lay in bed until I can muster up the strength to navigate once more. I feel quite alright above the waist-line but below that there might just as well not be anything there for all the good that part of my body is to me. I got a good scare and I still have it - although the Dr. told me to SNAP OUT OF IT. He left two bottles of medicine for my stomach because my stomach, bowels, kidney & bladder are all on the rampage. So I had to crawl in my hole and pull my hole in after me when the Dr. put his foot down on me. I said to him I have engaged an osteopath to come. “Not on MY case” he said, “You will have to choose between us.” But of course he does not know my condition it is not as simple as it looks & that is the part that scares me. Why I can be feeling very good for me & by the snap of your finger I will go down as flat as a pancake. I am terribly worried over it all. I wonder if it would be alright for me to have the Osteopath come when I feel so weak. Believe me, I am between the devil and the dark blue sea, not knowing which way to turn that will be for the best. May be Dr. House could give me a ray of light, for I am past deciding for myself. Dr. said to me, “you EAT” & he said to [Z…] [my daughter], “you feed her.” Sure I will eat - BUT, with discretion. I am gaining but slowly. Two days I have been in bed, and enough is plenty. I am so bitterly disappointed.
Yours sincerely, [Mrs. [464]]
R3. 4/2/28 Letter:
My dear Mrs. [464]:-
I have yours of the 28th, and am sorry indeed to know that you have been in such hard lines again - but I feel sure that if you will be a a little more consistent with your persistency, everything will be alright. I only wish we had our institution in shape so that we could have you down here at the Beach, and by the time we’d have you running up and down the beach four or five times why you’d be ready to eat anything, as well as everything. Of course one can go too far with the dieting. I’m in hopes that the doctor that came in understands the condition. I’m afraid, from the information we have gotten and from what you have told us, that he doesn’t - but I’m sure your family felt it was necessary, and that they did the right thing in calling him in, or calling someone. Possibly Mr. […] doesn’t think much of osteopathy. But the readings do. While they do not belittle medicine, they do uphold osteopathy, MORE than any other ONE form of treatment.
We appreciate your letting us hear from you, and we hope you will do this whenever you have the opportunity. You know we want to be of service, but we certainly do not want to hinder or do the wrong thing in any condition.
With kindest personal regards, I am Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
