This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce in San Saba, Texas, this 24th day of April, 1923.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. We have had this before, you see. Now we find there are a great many changes in this body at present from that we had before. The greater part have been toward assisting the body to find adjustment for self and has been in many, more than success. The body as yet we find shows some distress in the (UREBELIAN FOCI) [cerebellum?, medulla oblongata?] of the nervous forces and the action on the circulation to reduce the high blood pressure and so leave the mind and cycle force to build out from its debilitated functional organic trouble, see.

2. With the leaving off of the massage the body should, each day, take the form of exercise to equalize the circulation throughout the system, not violent, either of mental or physical exercise, but some of each character, that the equalization of nerve energy spent in rebuilding the body shall be equally distributed according to the suffering of the parts affected. There may be expected some relapse condition from time to time. Overcome these with the nursing of the body in that he must show dependability, and he must physically and mentally be capable of showing that the trust is not misplaced, and he is not wanting individually.

3. The body must have the vibrations from the electrodes as given though there is not the perceptible shock to the individual from this. It works to the equalizing of the whole condition. With the diet depends the greater part of the developing forces with the exercise and of the equalizer, see. The diet - use this:

Alternate of days in this line, see, - use discretion and common sense, see, for mornings, gruel, either hot or cold such as found in whole wheat or puffed wheat or corn or rice with little sugar and cream or good milk. Alternate this of days with fruits that carry acids, see, and those that are good eliminators such as will soon be found here in berries and the citrus or grape fruits, see. Little or no meats save fowl or wild game or fish. The outdoor life with plenty of company is good for this body. We would not change the climatic condition, for the body at the present time, see, for the surroundings are better if plenty of congenial company is kept about for this body. Do that as we have given.

5. (Q) Would the chiropractic adjustments do for this body? (A) Only if they are followed after the line of the osteopathic manipulation, as adjustments are not needed for this body. It is those that produce perfect elimination and assimilation and carry the conditions necessary to make these conditions possible in this body, [4685] we are speaking of. We are through.

Dear Mr. Cayce

I recd. your little book and am very much interested in your work although one would not think I would be since my husband has had three of your readings and if he improved under the treatment you prescribed it was very little so it seems strange that I should be interested. But I am and I want you to send more definite information concerning your sanitarium.

Will say the price is no object not that we have so much money but we have friends lots of them that have told me they would not mind paying for results but it’s a general opinion that Mr. [4685] can never be cured and they tell me it is only wasting money to pay some one to treat him when a case like his has never been known to be cured but I tell them there are things happening every day that never happened before and that as long as there is life there’s hope so they told me all right get the man that can cure him and send the bill to them and I know they are sincere.

Now as I say I don’t know why I should have any confidence in you unless it’s a case of a drowning man catching a straw.

But I suppose too it’s human nature to try every thing else and if we don’t find a remedy then we go to God for help not that I haven’t always trusted in Him but my trust has not been perfect for I know when we trust Him in deed and in truth there’s no question about results.

But who does that? not many. I try but realize I fall short and yet I just can’t give up and yet I don’t seem to gain very much but with God’s help I mean to go on trusting and praying that He will open my eyes some day and let me understand some of His wonderful works. Mr. Cayce I firmly believe there’s a cure for my husband and I believe God will lead me to it in His own kind way and it may be through you. I know there’s something in the way don’t know what it is but I pray God to remove it for we have three children and they need a good father’s help and advice. Could write on and on of our ups and downs our faiths and our failures but will wait to hear from you before going farther hoping to hear soon I am very truly

My dear Mrs. […]

I have yours of the 20th, and was certainly very glad to hear from you. I have often thought of you and Mr. [4685] and have wondered how he was getting along. I have often thought and felt that if I had a place where a person could be treated according to the readings, and check readings made on same every few days, that cases, especially such as Mr. [4685], could be entirely cured, and such is still my hope, though I haven’t the institution going as yet. I am of the opinion that I will have same within the next year or two, at this place.

Now, I shall be very glad to make another reading for Mr. [4685] and see just what the condition is at the present time, and if it is possible I am in hopes that we can offer the suggestions that will prove beneficial to him. I feel that it is too bad that we haven’t a place, so that I could say to you, “Bring him on here and we will cure him,” for I realize, and I am sure you do, that even while Mr. [4685] got a part or all of the treatments as were suggested for him while I was in Birmingham, that the strain of the change going back and forth was not in keeping with the suggestion made in the reading. I am sure, at first he showed considerable improvement, though he may have gone back later on, but I shall be might glad, Mrs. […] to try and undertake this, and if you will let me know, we will take this up as soon as it is possible. We will see what we can get and see what the suggestion will be at this time. If Mr. [4685] is at home practically all the time, it will only be necessary for you to let me know, but I am enclosing you, anyway, the regular appointment card that we have at present, with the day and hour set that this can be made, if you wish it done. I certainly hope that I may be of some help and some service. While I realize, and I’m sure you do, that it is not ME that does the work but that it is only THROUGH me that these suggestions are gotten, I know they are applying in the lives of others in such a way that they are getting help and relief. Only this morning I received a letter, which to quote you the exact words, saying: “Received my reading [953-23], and as usual it is amazing how correctly you describe conditions. There is no doubt in my mind, I am indebted to your information for my existence today.” Then, added to this, a few weeks ago I went to see my old mother. My father and sister, who are with her constantly, had despaired of her even living until I could get there, but I am glad to say I left her in four days feeling greatly improved and a letter from my father yesterday said, “Your mother, I am sure, is in better health physically today than she has been in the last four years.” Such reports as these, you know Mrs. […] are very gratifying, yet they carry with them a great awe-inspiring responsibility, or a feeling of same. I don’t know that I understand HOW the readings are obtained any better than I did when I first met you and Mr. [4685] in Birmingham, but I do believe I know, by experience, a little more concerning how the individual may apply the information as is obtained in the readings to their individual lives, and thereby gain much more from same. Then, in the light of this, I can appreciate your feeling when you write me concerning Mr. [4685] at this time, and I am certainly in hopes that I may be able to impart SOME of this at least to you, in such a way and manner that you will be able to assist Mr. [4685] in gaining that inner consciousness that is necessary for him to be well and strong again. I feel like yourself, though others may say there is no hope, there IS hope, for all is possible with God, for in Him we live and move and have our being, and as He, God, looks on He know the desire of our hearts and the needs of each and everyone of us, for He clothes the flowers of the field, gives life and notes the fall even of the sparrow. Then how much more must He know that desire in your heart for your husband to have life and health, that he may give that counsel and that advice to his children; for we know, though we may be conscious, though we may have the knowledge of God’s laws, it is through Man, the servants of God, that these laws are put in force in the earth. But you let me hear from you, and I sincerely trust that I may be the means or the channel through which help and aid will come.

As you will see, we are having to make the appointment several days off, but we are kept very busy, but are making this as soon as possible. You will let me know at once whether this will be satisfactory, for there will be someone else that will want the appointment if you do not.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

I recd. your letter of May 26. Will say I will be glad to have the reading at the time appointed but am not able at this time to make any contribution to your association. But as I said before I have faith in the power you possess and believe if the instructions could be clearly understood and carried out that a great deal of good could be accomplished and I will do all in my power to carry out all instructions. And there is a question I want to ask. In case your instructions are not followed what will be the result?

I believe this is all but will let you hear from time to time how Mr. [4685] is getting along, and any time I can help in any way will be glad to do so. Wishing you much success I am
