This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of August, 1926, in accordance with request made by his father, Mr. [953].

Born February 3, 1926, 8:00 A.M., Chicago, Illinois. Time of Reading … Avenue, 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Illinois.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited, in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity, giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity here, and those relations with universe and universal forces, as are latent in the present entity, and that that developed or retarded through the appearances in the earth’s plane, with the abilities and how these may be attained.

3. In the entering the earth’s plane, we find the entity coming under the influence of Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus. Hence the exceptional conditions that may enter in the entity’s being in this earthly experience. With the influence in the adverse, however, with Saturn and Neptune, with Mars in the square with that of Saturn.

4. These, then, are those conditions that the entity may be warned respecting in the present earth’s plane:

One that is destined to suffer with that condition in early childhood known as the summer complaints, or that of the looseness to the intestinal tract, to detraction of the physical body, unless warned against same. With this, use those properties as would be found in herbs of alum root, camphor and such natures - alcohol mixed with same.

6. In that of the early childhood - that is, after the sixth year, beware of powder and of firearms, especially in the months of December and of February and March.

7. In the entity’s present sojourn, we may only see those latent influences, and those latent conditions that will develop as the entity develops:

8. One that will be of the stubborn nature, yet very determined to do the own will. Hence must be guided and directed in the right way and manner.

9. One that will be cunning in the way and manner of having self’s own will in the early stages of development. Hence, again, one whose will must never be broken, but guided through love influence to those better conditions. Thence bringing those ennobling influences in that as is seen in Jupiter and in Mercury, with Venus.

10. One that will find the arts of the commercial nature and leading influence in the present earth’s experience, and through same may make the success in the present physical plane.

11. One that will bring through same much good to many, would the entity be guided aright.

12. In those warnings of the self-willed and stubborn nature, should these NOT be guided aright, we may expect those developments in the sixteenth to eighteenth year wherein consternation would be brought through that of firearms and of water.

13. In the appearances, and from which the urges as are seen in the entity may arise, are as these:

14. In the one before this we find in the days of the settlements, then in that country now known as the Puritan. The entity then among those of the ministers who served in that way and manner of persecution to those who sought familiar spirits. Hence we find that urge will be to seek the knowledge as pertaining to those possessed, in the present plane, of those conditions called second sight, or gift of those that would present the familiar spirits. In the name then Barret. In the urge, again will be seen that the entity, unless taught different, will be a scoffer at religion.

15. In the one before this we find in the days of the Crusade. The entity then among those who sought to be among the Crusaders, and going into that country became in the way of one giving self in service, gaining through same, gaining more in the suffering experienced in that land, gaining in the attitude of foes against the entity, for cared for, and becoming great as an artiste, under that supervision to which the entity gave self. Then in the name Thais, and the urge as will be seen from same - the love of the sea, and of drawings of every nature.

16. In the one before this we find in the days when the division was in the now Egyptian country. The entity then was in that position of the attendant to the counsellor to the king. Then in the name Ahni, and the entity gained in that period, for the entity was a good listener, and the urge as will be seen in the present from same, in that of being and desiring to give full for that received, as well as being capable of showing gratitude.

17. In that to which the entity may attain, and how:

18. The “how” remaining with those who have the training of the youth - the way through those channels as have been given, in that of the commercial art. Follow that way that gives the understanding to the youth, for, as has been given, “In youth seek the Lord, and when thou art old thou will not depart from Him,” for in Him is life, and the light is the light of the world, for seeking Him, having Him in the heart and the mind, all else will be added unto thee, for the world and that therein is His, and to be one with Him is to be the co-laborer with the Creator. To be otherwise is to set self in that position of being at-variance with Him.
