This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 17th day of November, 1924, in accordance with request made by self - [4796].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Now we find the body very good in many ways, yet there are abnormal physical conditions with the body and the correction of these would better fit the body to develop and to give the better service to self and others.

3. Now these are conditions as we find them in this body, [4796], we are speaking of. First:

IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, we find this disturbed by the poisons as are not eliminated through their proper channels, and in its circulation we find that the sediments from poisons carried are left in tissue and centers that at times gives distress to the body. This we find signs of in the locomotories, especially in the limbs (lower limbs). This also produces the nausea, the dull headaches, and aches throughout the body at times, affecting directly the condition in the eyes, as we will see, with the strain produced in nerve system. This produces, or is produced, and assists in producing, the conditions in the emunctories of the body. With the poisons carried, liver becomes congested. Taxation through eliminations attempting to be eliminated through kidneys, overtaxes these, and gives the dull achey condition across the small of the back. This occurs at times; not always, for the equilibrium and vital forces in the body attempt to ward against these conditions.

5. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, in certain ganglia and centers, where impingements deflect the nutriment to the system, this causes the functioning of the liver to be abnormal, and allows the glands in the mesenteric system to become poisoned with these poor eliminations, from lack of nerve energy and of the correct incentives through the system, or we have a form of toxemia, produced in body by deflected circulation, until organs become involved in their functioning, overload the system until the body adjusts itself through its coagulation and vitality. These centers and ganglions, especially, we find: In the 8th and 9th and 10th dorsal. In their reflexes, lesions caused in the 3rd and 5th cervicals. These in times back produced to the eyes, and the circulation to the head, the granular or inflammation of the lachrymal ducts and tissue, that produces the condition in the facial forces and eyes.

6. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, we find all under the strain of these conditions at times, though not always, and the whole of the organic system becomes involved through blood forces and condition created by impingements to the circulation and the supply of blood and nutriment to the organs.

7. Then, to correct the condition, we would take into the system those properties that will give the incentive for the correct elimination, and at the same time relieve by deep manipulation those conditions in the cerebrospinal system.

8. Taking then, these properties:

To one gallon of rain water, add:

Sarsaparilla Root…2 ounces, Wild Cherry Bark…2 ounces, Yellow Dock Root…2 ounces, Burdock Root…2 ounces, Sassafras Root…2 ounces, Mandrake Root…30 grains, Buchu Leaves…10 grains.

9. Reduce by simmering (not boiling) to one quart. Strain while warm and add two drams Balsam of Tolu cut in four ounces of grain alcohol.

10. The dose would be teaspoonful three times each day.

11. While these medicinal properties are being taken, take the manipulations. It will only be necessary to adjust the conditions and give the system the correct incentive. Will not be necessary that all of this quantity of medicinal properties be taken, but sufficient of same to produce the correct eliminations throughout the body. Take until this is brought about in system. Take occasionally that the body may eliminate the poisons from the system.

12. When necessary, instead of taking purgatives with these properties, use high enemas of lukewarm water.

13. Do that. We will bring the body to the normal conditions.

“Am enclosing you herewith, a copy of the reading as gotten this morning for you, and I’m in hopes that it will prove of a great deal of worth. I am sure you will be able to check up on this and will know whether it described your conditions.

“I would certainly, were I in your place, carry out the suggestions as given here. I do not know whether you will be able to get the prescription filled there in Selma or not. If you can, you can do so by taking it to Mr. Moseley at Varnon’s Drug Store. If you cannot, if you will send the whole reading to Sellers’ Drug Company, Fourth Avenue & Twentieth Street, Birmingham, they will fill it for you and return the whole thing to you.

“The manipulations as suggested are from an osteopath. I believe you have one there [D. Carl Thompson, D.C.]. I would certainly take all of those. It will not cost you so very much and will certainly improve your physical condition a great deal, if these are true.

“I would like very much for you to let me hear from you from time to time, and you can send me, as I said, the remuneration as suits your convenience and conscience. I’m very badly in need of funds at the present time and would like to hear at once…”

R2. 12/13/24 [779]‘s letter to EC: ”…If Mr. [4796] had carried out the reading he would be living today as far as that case of treatment was concerned…”

R3. 12/17/24 EC’s letter to [779]:

”…I gave a reading for our friend [4796] just a little while before he went to the hospital for the operation. It gave another treatment rather than the operation, but the doctors persuaded him into it. I guess I must have been right, from the results…”
