This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of July, 1937, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [601], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Detroit Time of Reading Osteopathic 10:35 to 10:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Hosp., Highland and Third Ave., Detroit, Mich. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [480]; this we have had before.

2. While the conditions-physical as we find are developing rather in a nominal, normal way; those conditions that have been indicated are arising, especially as to the activity of the mammary glands and the flow of milk.

3. As we find, to prevent hardening, this should be removed to some extent - with pump, or by nursing.

4. The manipulations as relative to same should be begun, but not those that would in any manner injure or cause any overexercising other than towards a gentle retardment and assisting the system to adjust itself.

5. Here we find the general conditions as related to the mental attitude of the body, and as to that which may be produced by those about the body, must be taken into consideration.

6. As we find, a gentle massage with an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor - gently, so these absorb - will aid in keeping down inflammation, and aid in those directions of causing the flow to be of such a nature as to gently make for that as would be nominal or normal under the existent conditions.

7. In those conditions as for the pelvis and the inflammation and the general condition as related to the bodily forces themselves, and especially the kidneys:

8. These, as has been indicated, must be watched, as to the inflammation that is natural from the general condition, and the repression and pressure produced. It would be well to have gentle manipulations in the area, osteopathically, to cause a little above the nominal or normal flow from same. This will aid in keeping down the general conditions.

9. These we find as for the present.

11. (Q) Nothing appears to be wrong with the kidneys now. Please advise just what to guard against, and how. (A) This has just been given. As they are overcharged, and owing to the general condition of the system as related to eliminations and the pressure produced during those periods of pregnancy, do not let these become overtaxed.

Then, it has been indicated as to the manner to care for same and the caution to take.

12. (Q) The doctor wishes to know just what was the condition produced by the enema given the body during labor? (A) This - as has been indicated, from the angle of the mother, the father, the associations and the activities about same - should be left as is; that there be no feeling of resentment nor of an activity where a grudge or a blame is held. For these produce only those things that are of the nature as to cause disturbance that becomes such as to make for a hardening of the heart - and activities that are the outcome of resentments.

From the physician’s standpoint - as has been seen, take then those precautions before such an operation is begun; that there are not the dangers that have been seen or experienced of the foetus taking the effect of the narcotic rather than affecting the body owing to the general condition in the katabolism as well as the metabolism of the body. This then should have been given much later.

But what is, IS - and there should NOT be resentments held.

13. (Q) Any other advice that will be helpful for the body at this time? (A) Keep about the body of [480] just as much of that as will cause optimism as possible. Do not dwell, then, upon the disappointments, the feelings that there might have been other things. Remember that as has been given, and know - if these are held and used as steppingstones, rather than things to be hated or resentments to be held, or blames here or there - this may become rather an experience that will make for spiritual growth in the experience of each one concerned.

R1. 7/9/37 “Uh-huh!” said [480]‘s mother when read what Rdg. said about enema. Then, “We’ll do the best we can,” when read her the spiritual part. “Received the [1399] Rdg., think it’s very good - will take care of it; also get over to the hospital with these things for [480] - Thank Mr. Cayce for everything - will write.”

R2. Telephone request from her mother, Mrs. [601], around 9:30 P. M., Sunday, July 11, 1937: “Gladys, we have a little something to worry about. Following the suggestion in the Reading to watch the kidneys, Dr. O’Connor took a urinalysis of [480] and found 3 plus sugar and an abundance of pus. He wants her to rest until tomorrow and then if it doesn’t show a decrease he wants to take her blood count, to test her blood for sugar. Please find out if that is advisable. He also says the pancreas isn’t functioning properly. Make a question of that. Are the manipulations being given correctly? Please outline diet. If the blood count shows sugar, he recommends insulin. I don’t believe the Reading will be in favor of that. Please find out just what we should do. Please give advice to Dr. O’Connor for his treatments for this condition. Has massage of the mammary glands been done properly? As soon as you phoned [480]‘s Rdg. Friday morning I went over to the hospital with the compound and the nurse started using it; also the pump. The milk has decreased, and she is much more comfortable and free of pain since the massaging. Should the massage be continued? Also Dr. O’Connor gave the manipulations to the pelvic organs as suggested, and the flow increased - now it has decreased again. Please advise about that; whether such treatments should be continued to increase the flow, or just what precautions. Unless something urgent is to be done right away, Gladys, wait until 7:00 to call me. You know I’m going to have an AWFUL telephone bill. Call me right at 7:00, tho, as I will want to phone [619] as soon as I hear from you. Gladys, you know we have no other way to turn except to Mr. Cayce. How is he feeling? I guess what happened to [480] hasn’t helped him any. I will never forgive myself for not phoning for a Rdg. last Monday - Please find out if it is advisable to move [480] to our home within next few days. Thank Mr. Cayce, Gladys, and give my love to all. Phone me immediately if there is anything to be done tomorrow, or anything to be changed.”

1. Is it advisable to take the blood test for sugar?
2. What is the trouble with the pancreas, and what treatment is advised?
3. Please outline proper diet.
4. (If the blood test is advised, and if it shows sugar in blood) What should be our reaction to the Doctor’s advice to use Insulin? What do you advise?
5. Is this condition only a temporary one, and how should it be met?
6. Please give advice to Dr. O’Connor for his treatments for this condition.
7. Has massage of the mammary glands been done properly, and should it be continued?
8. Should the manipulations be continued to the pelvic organs to increase the flow there? Please advise as to this.
9. Is it advisable for the body to be moved to her parents’ home within the next few days?
10. Is this reaction to the kidneys a natural working off of the drosses that have for so long produced the glandular effect to the head, the haziness, etc.?
11. If this present reaction is met properly, should the body be entirely relieved of the haziness and the old disturbance?
12. If met properly, has this whole condition of pregnancy and childbirth been a beneficial experience towards correcting the glandular condition of the body?
