1. EC: Yes, we have the body and those conditions as surround same, [4853].

2. In giving that that may be of aid in the present, in correcting the disturbances, we find it will be necessary that the causes of the disorders be understood - and these conditions, as we find, may not be pleasant to some. There existed a prenatal condition from the condition of the sire, or father, that brought into the system those effects in the nervous system as related to the genitive organs and genitive relations those forces as made for a weakening of the associations or connections in the nervous system; so that, as the body reached that age wherein nature was to discharge in the system those forces as made for creative energies in the system, these failed to respond in their proper way and manner. This brought about a suppression of the whole nervous system, especially as related to the sympathetic system, making for those of imaginations, screaming out in the night, suppression of the urine, again an over-activity of same; nausea arising during those periods when there was an over-activity of the gastric forces in the digestive system themselves - this produced by the call upon nature’s forces in the body to supply those necessary elements to create those needs as were forced to be active through the organs themselves’ functioning in this particular developing force of the body itself. THESE, as we find, HAVE brought about - DO bring about - those tendencies in the present. Unless there be supplied those forces in the vibrations or make-up in the body itself, not only to SUPPLY the needs but to destroy that tendency of the muco-effect in the plasms of the nervous forces to the organs of genitation, and effect to the brain centers and to those of the glands as act with same - in the pineal, the pituitary, the adrenal, the secretions in those of the active forces in assimilation - or the lacteals; ALL of these must be supplied, with a changed vibration - and will we be able to create same in such a way and manner as to bring about coordination, we may overcome those activities that produce for the system those effects in the body as are acting on the sensory system, so that the body has those spells of wanting to be alone, desiring even to destroy self, desiring to tear and break things, desiring to be rid of the eyes or the watching of others, imagining people are watching the body when they are not; these are natural results from the character of the disorder, as which the body itself NOT responsible! To go deeper into the conditions, then, it would be asked WHY, within the body. These would be with the metaphysical forces, as has been meted by the entity or the body itself - and these might be seen from the approach from a different angle.

3. To meet these in the present, necessary - then - that those who may apply those forces in the activities of a human body take warning by the conditions as exist in this body, and aid THIS body in gaining a normal equilibrium in its mental balance, in its physical balance, in its reaction throughout.

4. These, as we would find, would be the manners to approach this in the present:

5. This will of necessity be a persistent, a consistent, application. Do not begin unless there is the full expectancy and determination to see this through to where the body may be its normal self again, even in its earliest teen ages.

In the applications, then, we would apply those forces as may be found in the wet cell appliances, that carry one of nickel the other of copper in the anode - see? and these are to pass through the gold solution in one treatment and through the silver solution in the next treatment, and these would be given, we will say, on Tuesdays the gold solution and on Thursdays the silver solution - THAT ratio, see? In the applying same to the body, we would apply that anode first as has NOT the medication or medicinal properties passing through same in its vibration, to the 11th and 12th dorsal area. That carrying the solution, apply to the umbilicus center - and this should be taken for - in the beginning - thirty minutes, each one. After the tenth or twelfth day, the time may be increased to sixty minutes.

7. If these are given in this ratio, then on Mondays and on Wednesdays there should be the thorough manipulations and massage of the whole body; these given that the capillary circulation, structural portions of the body - be given osteopathically, but as a GENERAL massage throughout, making the corrections as will be necessary from time to time along the cerebrospinal system, but carrying same to the extremities as well as to the torso of the body and to the radial axis of nerve plexus - following them all out.

8. Keep the eliminations good as related to the alimentary canal, these more by diet and by the use of the excavations - or those of colonic irrigations - than by medicinal properties or cathartics.

9. The diet should be that of a general one, keeping stamina and stability through the whole system.

10. Keep this for - as the one or first application from the plain battery itself will last - thirty-six days; THEN we would give the necessary changes for the corrections in this body. Ready for questions.

11. (Q) What caused her derangement of mind six months after she was married? (A) The same effects as seen from those conditions existent in the system, only become accentuated by the activities of the imaginative system - through the forces as has been seen in system, from incipiency of the conditions.

12. (Q) What caused her to fall into comas during and after pregnancy? (A) This same reaction, with the system attempting to adjust itself. This, as seen, not produced from - that is, in the system itself, see - not produced from that as the more violent stage of those conditions in a body, but that that is more OFTEN considered as slight and of little moment.

13. (Q) What is causing her extreme nervousness and melancholia at the present time? (A) The inability of the system to adjust itself for proper coordination, as has been outlined. Do as we have given if we would bring the conditions. Be persistent, be consistent, and we will - within the next twelve to eighteen months - bring about a near normalcy for this body. We are through for the present.

R1. 4/30/31 GD’s letter to [4853]‘s sister: “We are enclosing a copy of the reading obtained for your sister this morning at the appointed time.

“If there is anything you do not understand in regard to this reading, please write us about it - as we now have a department for the interpretation of readings.

“It seems that the first step is to decide whether or not you will ‘see the thing through’ and carry out this treatment for your sister. If you decide to do so, then write us and we will give the order for the preparation of this wet cell battery mentioned. It would be the main treatment, followed by the osteopathic manipulations, diet, and general eliminations - then, as suggested in the reading, after following such an outline for thirty-six days there should be a change to another mode of treatment which would be outlined through these sources.

“Hoping that this reading will create enough faith in the treatment suggested for you to desire to carry it out to the letter, so that your sister may be helped, I am…”

R2. 5/4/31 Sister’s telegram to GD: “WISH START TREATMENT AT ONCE PLEASE GIVE ORDERS FOR PREPARATION BATTERY MENTIONED ALSO IDEA COST BATTERY”

R3. 5/4/31 GD’s letter to [4853]‘s sister: “Your wire just came, and the young man in charge of our mechanical appliance department is making up the battery in accordance with the directions given for your sister in the reading. It will go forward just as soon as he can get the materials together and prepare it for you. The price of this battery is $25.00. It will come to you with full directions as to its use.

“The young man suggests that in the meantime you can save quite a delay by catching a gallon and a half of rain water, in a GLASS container - for this will be necessary to charge the battery when you receive it. If it is impossible for you to obtain the rain water (it must not be caught from a roof or have any contamination of metals whatsoever), then you should obtain a gallon and a half of laboratory glass distilled water.

“If there is any part of the treatment you do not understand, either now or after you receive the battery, please don’t hesitate to question us - for we are only too glad to help wherever possible.

“Assuring you that we will get this battery to you just as quickly as possible, and hoping that we have been and may be of service to your sister…”

R4. 5/11/31 GD’s letter to [4853]‘s sister: “Today we are expressing to you direct the wet cell battery which has been prepared for your sister. We are enclosing directions for the setting up and use of this appliance. If there is anything not quite clear to you, please write us at once and we will try to explain as clearly as possible through letter.

“The silver nitrate solution is already made up. Just put it in the container vial. Packed in the battery you will find a fifteen grain ampule of chloride of gold. Break the ampule and dissolve contents in fifteen ounces liquid distilled water. This quantity will last for quite a while, as only a small amount is used in vial between the times of the recharging of battery - the directions for which are set up in the enclosed outline.

“Hoping you will let us keep in touch with you from day to day, and that by the time the next reading is necessary you will see a change in your sister’s condition…”

R5. 5/14/31 [4853]‘s sister’s letter to GD: “The battery came yesterday and I am glad to say we have it fixed up alright. Your instructions were very clear and I am sure I understand how to apply it to my sister according to the reading. I am enclosing a check for battery made out to Mr. Cayce.

“As I understand it I am to write within about twenty-two days for more chemicals; also there is to be another reading. Will you inform me when this is to be? And am I to assume it will be at the end of thirty-six days as mentioned in her first reading? I am very much interested in every detail of this as you can appreciate how anxious I am to see my sister her normal self again. I have the greatest faith in the readings and treatments I can assure you.

“Thanking you for your kind help so far…”

“P.S. My sister is now with me and will be for quite some time, as the address at the head of this letter will be hers for future reading.”

R6. 5/18/31 GD’s letter to [4853]‘s sister: “Your letter of the 14th enclosing check for the battery was received, for which we thank you very much. I am certainly glad to know that the instructions were clear to you and that you understand how to apply the battery to your sister according to the reading. It is just recently that we have begun to send these batteries away. Formerly these treatments were only given in the hospital here, where the reactions could be watched carefully and scientific notes made as to results from their use. I am sure, though, that with your faith and constant application of the suggestions given in the readings, the results will come as quickly as they could were the treatments followed here; perhaps sooner - for the constant prayer and great desire of the one making the applications surely must have much to do with the changes being brought.

“It seems from your sister’s reading that these first applications from the battery would last thirty-six days. So, I would advise that you write for the check reading in about twenty days - then we could be sure to get it in time. In the meantime, of course, she should be having the osteopathic treatments, the colonic irrigations, and the diet outlined; but I’m sure you understand all that.

“Expecting to have your request for the check reading, then, shortly before the chemicals are used up, and hoping you will write us in the meantime if there is anything you want to know about the treatment…”

R7. 5/21/31 [4853]‘s sister’s letter to GD: “It just occurred to me that it might be a good idea to tell you just how I am using the battery for my sister.

“The reading as I interpret it says she is to have two treatments a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I’ve been doing this but perhaps I am making a mistake by not giving one every other day. Do you think Mr. Cayce meant this or I am right in giving just the two a week on the days mentioned?

“When giving her the treatments I first fasten the plate that goes to the 11th and 12th dorsal and then I attach the one that goes on her stomach. I am quite sure I am right about this but would appreciate your checking me up on it.

“There is another thing I want to mention and that is, after I finish giving her a treatment where the silver solution is used, I notice the lead wire is considerably thinner. Is this to be expected? And if it gets so thin that it will break, what am I to do?

“I might say that she is having two osteopath treatments a week; also that the other suggestions are being carried out.

“In your last letter you said the battery treatments were to last thirty-six days and then she was to have a check reading. I understand that part alright, but in the letter you sent when you sent the battery, you mentioned that I may need new chemicals in about twenty-two days to recharge the battery. Is this correct?

“Trusting I am doing things right…”

“P.S. When should I change to solutions in the vials? (The gold and silver).”

R8. 5/27/31 GD’s letter to [4853]‘s sister: “As far as I can judge from the reading, you are applying the battery exactly right as you outlined in your letter.

“I talked with Mr. Cayce regarding the lead wire getting thinner when the silver solution is used, and he says this is due to the fact that the silver solution is a little strong - and he would suggest that you add to the silver solution you have prepared about one ounce more of the distilled water. Should the wire break, just return it to us immediately and we will send you another.

“I would suggest that the vials be filled with a new solution of gold and silver after every three treatments with each. It may be that you will run out of these solutions before the thirty-six days are up. If so, let us know and we will send more immediately. Of course, you can tell within a week or so of the time whether it is going to last or not.

“Hoping this is all quite clear, and that we may hear from you again whenever there is anything you want to know…”

R9. 6/6/31 [4853]‘s sister’s letter to GD: “As I figure it, my sister is to have a check reading on or about the 19th of June. This is just thirty-six days from her first battery treatment. By writing you now, I feel it will give you plenty of time to arrange the appointment. I want to mention now that she will be at the address on this letter at the time of her reading, which is my home of course.

“My sister has gained six pounds in the four weeks I’ve had her. She is less nervous but still very depressed.

“I will expect to hear from you, Miss Davis, as to when she is to have her reading. Will you also let me know what the fee is for this check reading…”

R10. 6/13/31 GD’s letter to [4853]‘s sister: “We are making the appointment for your sister’s check reading for the morning of next Friday, the 19th, between 11:00 and 12:00 o’clock Eastern Standard Time. Is that satisfactory? If so, please let us know just where she will be during that time.

“Did you receive the chemicals which the man in Norfolk came out and got for you? I am so glad to know that your sister is some better, and I am sure she will continue to improve under your careful attention. If you keep up the treatment I am sure you will get the results promised.

“Please let us hear from you in time for the reading next Friday.”

“P.S. Check readings are $10.00.

“P.S.#2. Please send a list of any questions you would like to have asked in the reading regarding your sister’s condition, or as to the treatment.”

R11. 6/15/31 [4853]‘s sister’s letter to GD: ”…My sister will be at the above address at the time of her reading on Friday morning.

“I received the chemicals alright and thank you for sending them. I will include my remittance for them in my enclosed check.

“There is one thing that puzzles me about my sister’s condition and I would like to ask about it in the reading. About twice a day and sometimes three times a feeling of blackness comes over her. It frightens her exceedingly and it takes her an hour or more before it passes off entirely. She claims, when she has one of these attacks that everything seems unreal and strange to her; even I do. I don’t know just how to word a question covering this. Perhaps you could help me out and ask it some way. I would appreciate it so much.

“In the first reading it said the battery would last for thirty-six days. Am I to understand by that, that she is to discontinue the use of it after that time?
