This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of January, 1930, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [4859].

1. EC: Yes - this we have had before, [4859]. Under the environ, and under the conditions which the body does labor, little - as we see - may be added to that as will bring relief. We would, however - until this has been changed - take minute doses of the medicated ash - one-eighth grain every other day.

2. We would also use, as the rests, that of the Radio-Active Appliance (PLAIN). Send same without charge to this body, that it may be tested - and will the body test same in the manner AS OUTLINED, then prepare self to put itself under the supervision of those who may aid the body more in the adjustment of itself from those conditions as have taken hold for so long. Do that. We are through with this reading.

Dear Mr. [4859]:-

As you will see, we were only able to get in this information for you today. I hope that the suggestions here offered will prove helpful and beneficial to you. As soon as you are physically able, Mr. [4859], won’t you arrange to come to the institution for a stay of four to six weeks? and let’s see if we can overcome this condition. This will not be such a hardship for you, and I believe we can be of a great deal of help.

We are sending you, under separate cover, the things as suggested for you to use at this time. It will be necessary for you to have the medicine in the little bottle weighed out at the drug store. The appliance - the instructions for its use will be with same, so that you will know just how this is to be applied.

Let us hear from you in at least a week after you have started to using these, and let’s see if we can’t get some help for you.

My Dear Mr. Cayce:-

I am in receipt this date of your medicated ash and also the other appliance. However there were no directions accompanying this appliance stating how long and how often to use it. I will thank you very much to send these directions immediately, as I shall be unable to start treatment until I hear from you.

I don’t quite understand how you missed the directions for the use of the appliance, for I was very particular to see that these were put in an envelope and fastened to the appliance. I did this myself, so I know that they were put in the box when it was mailed to you.

You understand the ash, I am sure, as to how it is to be taken. Those directions were written out very specifically.

The appliance is to be attached once each day, to your body - one anode or plate to be attached to the wrist, the other to the ankle, for an HOUR each day. You are to prepare a crock or glass container, which would hold about half or a gallon of ICE, and a little water in same - placing the appliance IN same and let it remain during the time you are taking the treatment. This should not be submerged, wholly - but should be placed in so that the connections are NOT under the water. A metal container will not do.

I am sure that, with the use of this, you will be able to get some rest, and I believe some relief.

Dear Sir:-

I began using the medicated ash also the appliance you sent me last Sunday, a week today. I used them as per your instructions 4 days the first two days I thought was doing me some good - that is I slept better, after that the next two days it went the other way and I could not sleep at all, and had such headaches and felt so miserably worse I left it off and have not used it now for two days and am about where I was before I began the treatment you instructed me to use one week and let you hear from me, but was sure the treatment made me feel so miserably just had to discontinue. I have taken other treatments before which seemed to do me first about as this did. Have tried different electrical machines

• also some medicines which were too stimulating and after about 2 or 3 days was forced to leave off for the reason could not sleep and was so fearfully nervous.

I judged from your letter however that you expected me to get some rest from the use of these, but it must have been too stimulating or something. Of course I sleep badly at best, but could hardly lie down at all the fourth night I used this. Of course am upset about it and don’t know just what to do about it. Will either return these to you or try them again if you say so - or anything else you suggest for me to do, for I am unfit for business or service as I am. Maybe nothing will do me any good. I have yours of the 16th. I am sorry indeed to know that you feel the applications given for helpfulness to you have not been so helpful. I can’t help but believe though, Mr. [4859], that in this instance you have stopped too soon. Don’t understand me to say that I think you should go on and use these when you feel that they are driving you distracted, but reduce the quantity of the ash, also possibly reduce the time of the appliance. I can’t help but believe that the condition that arose is only retraction. I wish you would give this another trial, along those lines, and do it sincerely. Then let me hear from you again.

Dear Sir:-

Have just finished seven days treatment of the medicated ash, also Radio Active Appliance. Took this just as you directed, and can’t say that am any better, if anything feel worse, although did not upset me as the 4 days treatment did. Nerve exhaustion, which suppose I have, seems to be hard to handle, am miserable all the while. If you wish can RETURN the appliance or do you think any use to use any further.

Dear Mr. [4859]:-

Replying to yours of the 21st, I do not want to seem over persistent in your continued use of these things that were sent you - but from our past experience we believe, if you will be a little bit persistent and consistent with the things being applied for your assistance, you will get some results yet. For instance, let me tell you just what is being accomplished by the use of the properties that were sent you - the ash and the appliance - if you will use them properly. The ash will release oxygen within your system. Oxygen, as I’m sure you recognize from all of the various things that you have gone through with, is a NECESSARY thing for the clarification of your blood stream. The life of the whole body, all the organs and the whole nerve system, depend upon that assimilated in the system for its sustenance, or for the physical life itself, or for the life forces to operate physically through you whole system. This should enable you to get hold of yourself in a little while, anyway. The active force in the appliance is to equalize and thus centralize the vibrations of your system TO the vibrations from without, bringing coordination between the sympathetic and cerebro-spinal nerve system. This the greatest barrier to a nervous person, and this coordination will enable you to gain more physical rest. So don’t stop just yet. You are possibly right at the point where you may get more benefits than you have even dreamed it possible for you to get. Try it for another seven days and then let me hear from you.
