This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 21st day of June, 1924, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

430 acre tract of Time of Reading land in 4:15 P. M. Bosque County, Tex.

1. GC: Now, you have before you a four hundred and thirty acre tract of land, owned by M. B. Wyrick, in Bosque County, Texas. Give the best locality for the drilling of a well, how deep one will have to drill to obtain oil. Also give a log of the formation, quantity of production and estimate of the cost. Also tell what would be best plan to raise funds for the completion of this well, and where.

2. EC: Yes, we have this here. We have had this before, you see.

3. Now, in this tract of land, we find there is that production of oil which may be found near where we have located this before, the specific location coming and being that on the South and East side of the anti-cline that comes from near the East border of the tract owned by M. B. Wyrick, near where an old house and a tree, the old stump, still shows that this present stump or portion of tree is an off-shoot of an older tree. This would be the indicator from which we would locate the well, some twenty steps South and East from this stump. Here we will find we will enter the pool that lies Northwest Southeast, Southwest and Northeast, or and near section, or the greater quantities drilling here would be found near central portion of pool or that necessary to enter pool at the depth of near 2900 to 3300 to 3375 feet deep. This formation is such that the pressure will be good with gas encountered here. We will find we have a few feet of earth, some sand and shale clay with lime, then changing every few feet in color and in the character of the formation as considered toward that of cave formations. That is, we will find some of these formations will have inclinations to break and slip into the hole, encountering water formation 96 feet. This of surface and some stream. Again encountering water at 320. Through the shales we encounter gray hard lime, changing to a darker, with some red or brownish formations. Then with lime and shale through the rest of the depths encountered, with some show of gas and of shale oils, with 2200 to 2300 feet, striking the formation under which the larger productions will be near the 2700 feet mark and drilling the production of 3000 to 3500 barrels in the 2929 to 3300 feet.

4. The cost of the drilling, when operations are begun, with the tools as are near the site (that is, some of them), will be from 18,000 to 23,000. As to where this may be obtained, we have with this many conditions to be considered. We have in this same district, as a general district, other operations that are under consideration that will be beneficial to this project. We would find that the better place to obtain financial aid, either through subscriptions to the straight oil project, with the geological conditions and the oil situation in the middle of summer, that there could be obtained aid from St. Louis and from New York, with others from Kansas City and Denver. There will be some propositions made these interested in this project in the very near future, but some of these be careful of and be sure that these are well founded in their ability to carry out their offer should this be accepted, for this will prove a very profitable field when developments are opened in these parts.

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

I’m enclosing you a copy of the reading as gotten this afternoon. This sounds to me like a mighty good proposition. However, from what I remember of our conversation, seems to me these directions as to locations are crossed, but I do not put my recollection (normally) against that when I am asleep. You, though, I am sure will be able to check these up and will know what is meant by the directions as given. I’d like to know what you think about it when you have read it over and compared same with your knowledge of lands and locality.

I’m in hopes the reading for Mrs. [4131] got there in time to be worth something. We shall be very glad to hear from this as soon as we can.

We got moved out to the house today, 322 Grafton Avenue, and it has us about cleaned out for finances at the present time. This move I believe is the best thing, under present conditions. However, I am sure it breaks into the relations with some of the others that have been associated with us here. As to just how much they have been worth, I guess I will soon find out.

No news as yet from George as to his accomplishments. Seemingly, to me, our friend here has treated him rather badly and made conditions rather serious for George. I’m in hopes, however, that he will be able to get things started as he felt like that he had them set. Guess I’ll hear something from him by the first of the week.

Reading on oil well just received this a.m. The directions are a little mixed, but on account all surveys in that part of Texas running about 60% off - it’s difficult to locate exactly by a map. In general it is ok. I received the reading for Mrs. [4131].

Now, in reference to the reading on the oil property, if there are any other questions regarding the location that we could make this more specific, or anything else relative to same, I shall be very glad to undertake them for you and would appreciate it if you’d let me try it out, for I am sure you understand it well enough to know how to check up and make them worth while.

We are certainly finding it much more pleasant in the office at the home than at the hotel, for it had gotten very, very, warm there.

Mr. dear Cayce

Your letter of the 24th. Glad to know that you are pleasantly located and hope the new office location will prove to be as satisfactory or more so than the previous one.

If you don’t mind, I would like for you to check the directions given in the reading of the 21st on the location of the Well on my land. The anticline runs into my land from a more southeasterly direction than easterly. The house place and stump are located alright, but the specific location given as 20 steps south and east from the stump would carry the location into the road between my property and the property south of me and off of my land. I am wondering if the directions as to point of compass was not reversed and that the location should be 20 steps north and east or north and west from the stump. Would like to be assured of this.

The description of the pool as lying Northwest Southeast and Southwest Northeast checks in accordance with the geological survey of this territory by an eminent Geologist, Mr. Hatch of Kansas City; and I would like to know also if this hole should be started with a 15 or 12” casing. This, of course, will depend on the amount of water that will be encountered in the first 500 to 1000 ft.

Would it be permissible to ask for the names of some of the people whom we might solicit for funds, either among our present subscribers or those whom have not been interested with us heretofore.

My dear Cayce:

Received your letter yesterday. Very glad to hear from you. The information I wish to gain regarding the development of our oil property at Kopperl, Texas, might be had from the following questions:

First - We are now preparing to drill a well near the south boundary and in the southwest portion of a 430 acre tract land owned by M. B. Wyrick in Bosque County, Texas. In a previous reading you gave this locality as the next best location to drill for oil. The location we are making is near a spot where at one time there was a house. It is on the slope of a hill, the surface dropping to the Northeast. It is also east of a Ravine, running from this locality to the River in an northeasterly direction.

Is this the best location where the oil well will be?

How deep will we go and what will be the estimated cost, in addition to the tools and casing which we now have? Give a log of the formation to production.

In what manner and in what locality can we best raise funds to continue and complete and complete the drilling of this well?

Please get this information for me as soon as you can.

I assure you it will be very much appreciated and will help the good cause along.
