This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at Phillips Hotel, Room 115, Dayton, Ohio, this 29th day of December 1923, in accordance with request made by Mr. Cayce.

Rocky Pasture, Time of Reading San Saba County, 2:30 P. M. …, Texas.

1. (Q) LS: Give specifically the best location on that tract of land for drilling an oil well. (A) EC: Now, as we have had here before, we find there are several places that would be specific places to drill where large production would be encountered. That toward the fork of the rivers, or that in Southern and Eastern end of tract being the better for production, yet the harder to handle from the standpoint of location for access and egress from property. The specific location we would find on this tract as the best place would be where the forks of what is known on property as Big Rocky and Little Rocky, the junction of these, thirty yards from the bend of Little Rocky, just before entering the Big Rocky, or where the fence line crosses, and the clearing is shown here. This will be the better place to drill. In this we find the wood for fuel close at hand, the water for operations close at hand, (see there are lot of ducks here on the water now) and this we would find would be that encountered in drilling here:

First: earth rock or sandstone, with few feet of red bed, then sandstone, then earth, then shale, then rock carrying sand formation, and sand - earth - earth - sandstone until the hundred twenty-three feet we find the first water sand. Below this we find the blue shale changing to black and gray, with some traces of oil in this sand, which is of the black or gray formation, changing then to sale and sandstone of small depth, on the three hundred fifteen (315) to three hundred thirty (330) feet when other water sands are encountered with a larger flow than that encountered above. Below some lime, then sand and shale and shale and shale, changing in color until the gray lime encountered at nine fifty three (953) here the casing would be set then through this gray lime two hundred feet (200), then the change to black lime, with breaks of shale in which small quantities of oil would be encountered. This can be made to pay if handled at the proper hour in the day. Below we find heavier lime changing in formation from gray, black, white lime and sand until we reach one thousand two hundred seventy-nine (1,279), where we find some oil and gas below the heavier gray lime changing to the white and lighter gray, soft and hard strata, to one thousand eight hundred ninety (1,890) we encounter a change that will necessitate handling water formation, through this we encounter that of Cap Mountain formation, with some very hard strata changing into the black and gray. Then in the two thousand five hundred twenty-five (2,525) we encounter that of the heavier lime, through which at twenty-six we find the largest body of oil in the whole State, or country in this part of the sphere, for in this region we find that backed against the up-lift to the South and West, and from this pool those pools lying in the upper stratum are fed in the change of the earth’s condition in respect to oil formations, for we find in this district that condition where for many, many many ages has been the storehouse of the oil formation in this country, and we find there has been three up-lifts with the slide or change of formations, for from the beginning of conditions where last water encountered we begin in the oil producing strata in its native or original state, that of the Paleozoic age that has been submerged, for this was once the great inland storehouse of the producing vegetable and animal forces that produce the mother of oil production. Drill here if you would bring the best and largest of oil producing territory.

Those conditions to be wary of is that in the upper stratum in the eleven hundred (1100) to twelve hundred (1200) feet depth. Again in the eighteen hundred (1800) to one thousand eight hundred seventy-five (1875) there the change or beginning with the handling of casings and be wary of the buckling elements that come, but drill there.

The production in this we will find will be seventy thousand (70,000) barrels of forty-two (42) gravity oil per day, with strong gas pressure, but that that would increase when other holes are - [remainder of reading missing]
