This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 29th day of July, 1925, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

Time of Reading Bosque County, 3:45 P. M. Dayton Savings Time. Texas.

1. GC: You will give us the condition of operations at the present time, and will answer the following wire of 28th from Mr. M. B. Wyrick: “Please wire tomorrow feet necessary to be drilled and that necessary to be done to bring in production we have passed depth given should we consider a shot if so where what quantity what formation and age are we in.”

2. EC: These, as we see, are in that where the ends of the formations as bring the production from the lower stratas, and as in the lower Mississippian or Ordovician (?) age, and will be a continuation of same for fifty-six (56) feet as yet. While these stratums show some of the formations of the Paleozoic and the Cambrian and pre-Cambrian, this is from the stratum in which the formation is laid down, for, as we see, this comes in the region of the second overflow in age of this area.

3. The depth then necessary to reach would be through that of the strata in which there is now being drilled. This, we find, would reach thirty-four (34) feet. This should bring the production from this area.

4. The considerations of shots in hole would bring production from two sides. At forty-five seventy-eight (4578) we find that soft that would be brought in from the West and South side. That in the fifty-four seven (5407) would bring that from the South and West. Would be well, were this shot, to use heavy charge in both of these places. Do not use charge until the last is reached in thirty-four (34) feet, or until all sedimentary formations have been passed through.

5. Then from this we would answer this wire:

6. Thirty-four feet should be drilled for sedimentary formations that at present is still in same. Should shot be necessary, at fifty-four fifty-seven to seventy-eight (5457 to 78) and fifty-four seven (5407), heavy charge, suing nitro. At least two hundred to three hundred (200 to 300) quarts.

7. The log as is shown shows that these are the depths in which the seepage is coming at present, and would bring the greater flow. Would be necessary after same that same be cleaned, yet we would find flow would come from this, but a great amount by cleaning after the bridge is broken.

8. (Q) About when may production be expected? (A) At any time.

R1. 7/29/25 EC’s letter to Mr. Wyrick:

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

Wire received and was disappointed that it was not telling us that it was producing. I’m sure this is just as much disappointment to all of you there. It seems from the reading that here is still a possibility of your getting this without shooting same. I suppose my aversions to that is on account of my personal experience with one that I know was improperly shot [3777?]. As you already know, we sent you this wire as taken from the reading as I construed same.

“Still thirty-four feet of sedimentary formation. This should be drilled before considering shots. Should shot be necessary, place at forty-five fifty-seven to seventy-eight and eighty-four seven. Heavy charge, using nitro, at least two hundred to three hundred quarts. Full reading in mail. Hope shot won’t be necessary.”

I certainly hope that you will have the pleasure of seeing this come in before it is necessary to use this, though If eel sure that you will make a well out of it, should it be necessary to shoot.

R2. 8/3/25 Mr. Wyrick’s letter to EC:

JEFFERSON HOTEL Dallas, Texas

My dear Cayce,

I am now in St. Louis received your several readings on the well am very thankful to you for the help you are giving. The readings are correct in every particular except locating the production I am at a loss to account for this. You give correctly the changes information conditions of tools and equipment also relations existing among the operators. Now why not get the oil or tell us correctly where it is.

We had the change information you gave as would occur at 5602. We went into Black rotten lime mixed with some shale and some gravel. Now we are 5805 most all shale. The drillers expect a change soon to another hard shell or cap and then we hope for production under that. There is a seepage of oil from some formation. We have passed it shows on the sludge baled out. The formation we entered at 5600 looks very much like sediments. The drillers cannot identify it with anything they have had in other fields but they are very hopeful of ultimate success. We sent sample to Gulf Production Co’s Geologist at Houston. They say we will get a well. Martin will take samples to Austin to Mr Arddin, State University have been there before and they gave us a favorable report. We cannot go on forever must stop soon. I will be in Chgo remainder of the week. If you find time when you are feeling good and fully relaxed might try again.

Get a positive location of the oil if possible. Are we drilling in a formation that lays horizontal to the hole we are drilling or does it pitch at an angle, if so what degree or is it sitting vertical. We may be drilling vertical in one formation while we parallel a hard formation that shuts out the oil from another formation this condition might be overcome with a shot. The drillers do not like to place shot in locations you have given. For each location expect one is in a soft formation one is in hard sand.

I do not like to give up but we must have something definite soon. We are now the deepest hole in Texas.
