This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of November, 1926, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

Time of Reading 5:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Bosque County, Texas.

1. GC: You will tell us how the operations may be carried on in the present hole to insure success, telling us the formations and the kind of obstructions are in the hole, and how is the best way to handle this.

2. EC: Yes, we have the operations here. This we have had before.

3. Now, while the conditions as have surrounded these operations have become that nature as to be exasperating to many, yet we find conditions in the hole, or well itself, in that condition wherein - while troubles will be experienced in the operating - the success of same may be assured by the careful handling of conditions at the present time.

4. IN the handling of the obstruction, this we find is a portion of the casing, and that the width of the obstruction will increase to some extent until near half the cutting edge will show on tools. This, then, may be handled by either continuing to pound up the metal, or by use of acid - which would expedite conditions to some extent, yet increasing the liability of there being an accident to tools.

5. The care in operation is that there be no hanging up and losing of tools by striking a portion of the hollow incasing and tools full in diameter but blunt and sharp cutting edges - that is, the dubbing of bit be shortened, see?

6. In the depth, we find there will only be a few more feet of the hard obstruction. Then twenty-one (21) feet should bring the operations to the bottom of hole, with the less than thirty-one (31) feet of new hold to make before that stratum of lime - black lime - shows the oil in its natural state, for in or near the bottom of hole will be seen the indications of the oil seeping in. Do not become over anxious at the renewed indications of the ultimate success, but show care and caution as gas and oil begin to rise in the hole.

7. Following these, we will make the success as has been given.

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

I have yours of the 11th, and you will see from the enclosed what we have been able to get concerning the operations at the well. This looks pretty good, yet it seems to insure success through a good deal of trouble yet. This certainly has been one troublesome hole, and I suppose has been as trying one on everybody’s nerves and pocket books as one might well be, but I believe it’ll work out yet. I certainly hope they get things in shape soon and go on down with it. You know we are anxious and appreciate any word that you can pass along.

We are all certainly very much in hopes that you will find the opportunity to drop in on us sometime in the very near future. We know you are very busy - but it is hard for you to have a moment you can call your own - but we certainly would love to see you, and have you with us even for a few hours. I find it mighty hard to get straightened out. I know time and hard work is about the only thing that will bring about contentment, but it seems that it isn’t exactly mental work that I need - and I’m not situated so I can do much else, especially with what I am trying to do, and the many, many requests we have on hand.

We certainly shall appreciate your letting us hear from you from time to time, and we certainly hope and trust it is going to be possible for you to come in and see us.

R5. 11/23/26 EC’s letter to Dr. House: ”…Wyrick reports they are getting in shape now to finish up their well. Peters and Preston have their well ready to begin operations again [See [5741] series]. They are in Bimini looking for that treasure [See [996] series] now, and they wanted me to come down as soon as they came back. They wanted us, and of course that included you, to spend at least two or three weeks or a month there - as their guests - of course they taking care of all expense and paying us all besides…”

R9. 12/6/26 My dear Mr. Wyrick:

Many thanks for your note of the 27th, with the report as to operations. I certainly am very much in hopes that they are succeeding with the undertaking, though I feel very sure its a slow tedious process, one requiring a great deal of patience and close attention. But I certainly believe more and more in the ultimate success of the operations. I certainly hope that they won’t fail to let me know if they think whatever I can give will be of help, for I know of nothing that I would love more to see succeed than the undertaking in the hole.

We have had a very bad siege here in the last two or three weeks. The little fellow Edgar Evans Cayce] got very badly burned by his nightclothes catching afire early one morning, and he has been laid up ever since. I think it shows some improvement, but he has suffered very much, and you know what it is to tie a young fellow like that down flat on his back, for two or three or four weeks at a time. I’m sure you remember him - the one I believe George nicknamed “Dynamite.” We had had warnings, but like most of us, we were off our guard at this time.

We still keep rather busy with appointments. The contributions have been a LITTLE bit better in the last month, for at that time they had gotten to where I believe we had gone two months with not more than ten or fifteen dollars for the MONTH being sent in, and with what we had had, Blumenthal hadn’t kept up his contributions as he had started out to. But I’m sure he will get back to them when he gets straightened out again - hope so anyway.

All the rest of us are fairly well. We are still hoping that you are going to find it possible to get down this way before the first of the year, or mighty soon after. Possibly you’ll have to make it on your return trip from New York, when you go there in January.
