This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of December, 1926, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Bosque County, Texas.
-
GC: You will give us the condition of operations at the present time, telling how these operations may proceed to make a success of this well, giving anything of which the operators should be warned, and answer any questions I may ask you regarding same.
-
EC: Yes, we have the operations here. Now, we find these are only needing to be careful in the drilling of the last portions of this before entering the lime in which new hole is to be made. There will be encountered some showings of the first portion of pump lost in hole, and these will cause some troubles in hanging of tools; though when this is reached use more of the acid and this may be taken from the hole without trouble.
-
In the new hole there will be found, when the bottom is reached (where the new hole begins), that the position is some different from that as was encountered before these troubles began. There is some showing of the oil formation, and thirty-one (31) feet should carry through this lime, or to that break where the production will be encountered. Then the taking of the production will only be necessary for the success of operations - that is, handling the conditions as is necessary under the pressure as will be encountered in this depth, the quantity and quality of the production, see?
-
Keep this, then, in the way as given, for success will crown the efforts of those that labor therein, even to that amount as has been given - fifteen hundred for each one dollar invested in these operations. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How far from where they are at present before they will encounter the pump? (A) They will encounter the pump in the next ten (10) feet.
-
(Q) How much acid should be used? (A) That as has been used for these operations heretofore, see?
-
We are through with this reading.

R1. 12/12/26 EC’s ltr. to Mr. Wyrick:
My dear Mr. Wyrick:-
I didn’t get this off quite as soon as I wanted to, but did the very best possible under the circumstances. We tried to get it in the morning, but got no response. I am in hopes though that this will help out. It would seem that prospects are a little bit brighter than they have been. I’m expecting to have real good news from you real soon. Hope you’ll let us hear from you whenever it’s possible.
We are all getting along so-so, and keeping awfully busy. Hope this finds you feeling good and everybody happy.
With kindest personal regards from all,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R2. 12/14/26 EC’s ltr. to HLC: ”…Morton sent me $100 - yesterday.
I don’t think Morton means to make it hard, though Mother [GC] is very much of the opinion, I think that Morton got “miffed” at what I said about a letter I wrote, and is taking this manner of showing me that he’s going to run it or not play at all. While I don’t feel that way - Mother may be right. Anyway, it makes it rather hard for a holiday season. But we’ll manage along some way until this well comes in.
Mr. Wyrick has gone to Texas. Things are progressing and might come off before Christmas, if the reading can be relied upon. Had a wire from the people in Fla. wanting us to come down right away. I haven’t answered it but will by letter. Of course we couldn’t do such a thing right now. They claim they didn’t locate the treasure they were looking for. I also had another letter from a man in Fla., wanting me to come right away. He proposed to pay all expenses - wanted me to locate some oil. He gave me rather a full outlook of the oil situation. It looks good to me, though you can very well imagine what Mama and mother had to say when the fellow enclosed a copy of a letter that he wrote to A. D. Noe - insisting that Noe get in communication with me at once and bring me to Fla. with him. I haven’t heard from Noe as yet - possibly won’t. But it makes the outlook for the oil in Fla. look good. This man claims one well a day or 2 ago - blew the crown block off the top of the rig…”
R3. 12/21/26 EC’s ltr. to Mr. Wyrick:
Dear Mr. Wyrick:-
We don’t want to burden you with reading a whole lot of stuff, but I have felt that possibly the enclosed reading [See 294-89 EC’s dream interpretation reading re. contemplated trip to Florida] was so unusual that it would be interesting to you - and I would like to get a lot of angles on same from the impressions the information given and ideas others will have as respecting same, that I may be better able to ask some questions on the reading that will better explain it. So, if you do have the opportunity, I’d be glad for you to study this a little bit and let me know what you think.
We have all been rather anxious since you went to Texas, to know just what was going on, and hope when you have the opportunity you will tell us all about it. I certainly hope it is not going to be very long before you will all be rewarded for your time, your money and patience. And I somehow feel very sure that it isn’t going to be very long.
We are all getting along pretty well here, except the boy with the burnt leg, but while he is better, it will be a pretty hard holiday for him - not being able to get on his feet as yet.
We all certainly wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New year, and hope you are feeling good physically, and that everything is working out fine.
With kindest personal regards from all,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R4. 12/21/26 Mr. Wyrick’s ltr. to EC:
[GD’s note: This letter from Mr. Wyrick crossed above one [Par. R3] of EC’s in the mail, which was a frequent occurrence in their correspondence.]
My dear Cayce
Kindly accept the enclosed small token of appreciation with my very best wishes for health and happiness for yourself & family. I was awfully sorry to hear of the accident to the little son. Hope he has fully recovered. How is the older one getting on at school? Did not receive the reading on well while in Texas. It was returned to me yesterday. Thanks. And when you have an opportunity please see if you can tell us how to remove or get by the obstructions. Drill practically at stand still. Just pound - make no headway. Best wishes MBW
