This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of December, 1926, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

Time of Reading 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Bosque County, Texas.

1. GC: You will tell us the condition of the operations at the present time, why they drill and make no headway, and how they may remove or get by the obstructions and bring this to a successful producing well.

2. EC: Yes, we have the operations here. These are somewhat more hopeful than they have been for the last few days. The obstructions are causing troubles, for reaching the portion of same where the greater amount of obstruction has been beaten together, or more in its breadth and thickness, combined with the beating together, prevents the headway, yet this is giving away somewhat under the pressure or the continual pounding.

3. We would overcome much by the continuation of the acid in sufficient quantities to not only destroy by the corroding, but by crystallization - that is, in the cleansing of same, after the use of acid, there may be used that which causes such crystallization, in those chemicals that cause such crystallization, that will facilitate matters. This will be found in the use of the temperature of the water, with the salt FOLLOWING the acid - that is, raising the temperature cleanses, but lowering the temperature with ice and salt in the acid will produce the crystallization faster, see? Using, then, ice and salt in the cleansing, after the first warm - or water, for it becomes warm - is run, after the acid, see?

4. Do this, for the renewed encouragements, and with the obtaining the first of the new stratas, there will be found the fuller indications of production, which will be found in the way, the manner, and the quantity as has been given. Patience, persistence, and consistent effort will bring results.

5. (Q) Is there anything about the operations, tools, etc., of which they should be warned? (A) Only that as they have been warned.

R1. 12/30/26 EC’s letter to M. B. Wyrick:

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

Please accept my sincerest thanks and appreciation for yours of the 21st, with enclosure. Specie is not necessarily the basis of happiness, yet occasions often arise wherein a little of same goes a long way toward making the outlook much brighter, and we certainly appreciate your kindly thought of us at this time. We have been kept very close in during this season, on account of the accident to the little fellow - for while he is slowly improving, the burn was so severe that it has made it a very slow process - but we are in hopes that within the next few weeks he will be able to be up and about. But we were glad to have Hugh Lynn with us, and all in all it has been very nice.

I was certainly sorry that I couldn’t get the reading to you sooner, and I’m sorry to know that they’re still having trouble there. The information gotten yesterday would apparently indicate that things are looking some brighter, and I’m certainly very much in hopes that the suggestions here made will prove of help and will aid them in getting along much faster.

I think that I wrote you sometime ago about some people in Florida, who were supposed to have considerable money, trying to interest me in the oil situation in Florida. They have also wanted to try and locate some treasures that were supposed to have been buried many years ago on some of their possessions. They have been very insistent in the last few weeks, trying to get us - that is, the whole family, to come to Miami for three or four weeks, or as long as we would stay, as their guests at one of the hotels they own. Apparently, this would be one way to procure the finances sufficient to begin our operations with the Institute. Of course, the accident to the boy prevented our considering same, even, in the last five or six weeks. But, somehow, I am still considerably in doubt about this being the plausible, feasible, or even correct thing to undertake, even though it was in a manner a last resort - for I believe that I have had sufficient experience to know that it is not just the right thing to do. Do you think I’m right, or not? I know this is asking a mighty big question, with telling you very little, but I am sure you are enough of a business man, and have run into enough wild propositions to draw a pretty clear conclusion of the situation. We are also in touch with a doctor [See 2739-1 and 2739-2] who seems rather anxious, if he is the correct party, to begin preparations for the institute end of the work. We have taken a Life Reading, and will take some questions on same, and others more direct, regarding his association with the work, and I’d like to send you copies of these and have your opinion on same.

I certainly am in hopes that you are feeling physically fit yourself, and that you had a pleasant holiday season - and wishing you all the Joy and Happiness possible in the coming year,

Friend Cayce:

I have received the reading on well which you gave last week and thank you very much for the information contained in it. It will probably be of considerable help in completing our operation.

We have had the obstruction under acid treatment since December 22. Cleaned out waste and started drilling again. Martin reports that the bailer went twenty inches farther than where it stopped at the time they put in the acid and that the acid is evidently destroying the metal judging from the character of the bailings they bring out.

Regarding the reading you gave on December 6th, [294-89] interpretation of a dream, in which you asked me to comment. I have read this article over several times, and frankly, I am unable to develop anything like an intelligent understanding of the matter contained in the reading. I seem to be entirely too materialistic or earth-bound to understand the finer points of a reading of this character.

Regarding the other matter [[5741] series] which you spoke of in your last letter, that is, of going to Florida and getting readings for the people interested in oil. Personally, I cannot see any reason why you should not do this if they will pay you an amount sufficient to justify making the trip and devoting your time to their interests.

I believe that your sentimental self influences you a little too strongly in such matters. Personally, I am unable to comprehend wherein your physical or spiritual self or your status in the life after this would be in any way jeopardized by your honest efforts in this life to procure this world’s resources that are necessary for the sustenance of your physical life and that of your dependents.

I feel that the world today and for ages past has been influenced entirely too much by fear. This is primarily exerted through our so-called religion, which to my mind is based entirely on fear, and for that reason cannot be right or constructive. I know how you feel about your relations with the Deity in this life as it may influence you in another appearance on this earth or another sphere, but I believe, that if you will banish fear, which is more or less present in the human body due principally to the environments under which we develop and get the thought out of your mind that everything moral and good had its origin and has its termination in a belief in the cross, that you will begin to see things a little different.

To my way of thinking, one of the greatest sins that man commits in this physical life is giving themselves over to selfishness and greed. For instance, the efforts of the present generation to take to themselves all of nature’s stores they can possibly cut into and devote to their selfish purpose, losing sight of the necessity of future generations and the thought that the infinite forces provided on this earth store-houses for the sustenance of the physical bodies for many thousands of generations and that when we destroy more than is necessary for our immediate need we are committing an act in direct violation of the natural law, and, therefore, sin, for which we must render an account at some time during our eternal existence.

Therefore, I feel that the little things that give you so much concern in the way of commercial speculations which would lead to the attainment of the necessities of life would not mark you of sufficient selfishness to mar in any manner your development toward that perfect entity in the life eternal. So if you can get the money that you need by your honest efforts in aiding the parties in Florida or any other place, I would say, by all means do so.

R3. 1/13/27 EC’s letter to Mr. Wyrick:

My dear Mr. Wyrick:-

Yours of the 4th to hand - was certainly very glad to hear from you, and I’m in hopes that things are going better at the well, and that the drilling is progressing in better shape than it has been heretofore. We are all very anxious, and certainly do appreciate your letting us hear from time to time.

I had quite a little spell about the 1st, and started off with the New Year in bad shape. Don’t think I missed pneumonia very far, but I am glad to say I am feeling a lot, lot, better, and am in hopes I won’t have any more trouble.

The little fellow seems to be getting along fairly well - has had no special complication, except very bad cold, but is able now to hop around, using crutches. His leg is badly drawn, and as it entirely heals though I don’t think there will be any trouble in getting it straightened out alright. The readings have given that he will have no trouble when it is healed properly, and we are following those out to the best of our ability. Now, regarding the Florida proposition [[5741] series], some of these men felt like there was a possibility of my not coming, so one of them [Frank E. Mohr] came up after me. We are trying to get conditions in shape so that we might possibly make the trip. Of course, a reading was taken on the proposition, and I enclose, herewith, a copy of same. [254-34]. I certainly appreciate your comments on the others, and I would like to have your comment on this, if I don’t take up too much of your time.

R4. 1/12/27 Mr. Wyrick’s letter which again crossed EC’s in mail:

My dear Cayce,

Not much to tell you about the well. Put in another charge of acid last Saturday. Will draw it and run tools last of this week. We make two to four feet on each acid charge. Can you let me [know] how many feet until we pass thru the obstruction we are working on and how many more charges of acid we must use. When we get it no more worries for the Cayce! Have information of another development - one of your readings about two years ago will show the truth. You gave Mr. [2265] a reading for his wife [1186] telling what to do that she might bear children. Understand she will soon be a mother. Believe me he will be one happy boy - he was very skeptic for awhile. Hope your boy has recovered from the burn and that all are well. Tell Miss Davis to send along the readings on Dreams or anything - I sure enjoy them.
