This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of December, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Dr. [2739].

Born December 14, 1893, in New Britain, Conn. Time of Reading 8:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the Universe, and Universal Forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited, in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity, giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: (In undertone: Not but one person living that was born in ‘96 in New Britain, Conn.) Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the Universe and Universal Forces, as are latent and exhibited in the present earth’s plane, with those relations with the experiences of the entity in the earth place, as have to do with the urges of the entity - for these are many.

3. In entering the earth’s plane, we find the entity comes under the influence of Mercury, Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter, and Mars, with adverse influence in Saturn and in Venus.

4. In the abilities, then, and urges as are exhibited, we find, without respect to will’s forces, these as the exhibited force of the entity:

5. One of high mental forces and ability, with the capacity of deep reasoning, when guided aright.

6. One that finds in the mental force much as pertains to the study of the mystic and the occult, yet tends to use same from the alchemist viewpoint, rather than from that of the basis of truth through which so much may be gained.

7. One, then, high minded.

8. One of a state that brings the mental to the point of forbearance as regarding others.

9. One that holds the mental higher even than the moral.

10. One that will bring much to others, would the high mindedness be brought to submission of the forces as may be manifest in the material planes as concerning those conditions of the manifesting of the Creative Energies in the material plane, and rather from this point should the reasoning be guided, than from that of the high minded.

11. One that is of the ennobling character in many ways, yet one that would never make a merchant or chief, for necessary that the best efforts should be under the guidance of those that would keep before the entity the sources of inspiration for the entity and others.

12. One that, through the experiences in the earth’s plane, finds many conflicting emotions in the urges that are latent, and that often find sudden expression in the physical life. Hence another necessity of stability being brought about the entity.

13. One that will give much, should such directions bring these stabilizing factors in the entity’s experience through the present earth’s plane.

14. As for the appearances:

15. In the one before this we find in that of David R. Roth, in the Ukraine country, in the period of oppression to the peoples of the race of which the entity has long and almost ever been a part. The entity then in the capacity of one who brought much comfort to the peoples in the way of succor and aid in binding up the broken hearted and encouraging those that were weak. Not in the capacity of the spiritual minister, yet spiritually ministering the greater strength during that experience, gaining much through the whole span of experience in that time, and making for self, in the manner, that which entity had determined in mind from the first. In the urges, we find these conflicting, for the oppression brought the abilities of deep hate, yet brought those desires to minister to those that are weak. The tendency, then, to use same for self’s own purpose. This must be rid of!

16. In the one before this we find in the period of the wars in that called the Trojan. The entity then among those who sought to aid in the routing when Achilles was brought low. The entity then losing the life in the defense of the household of that ruler or power. In that period in the name Arkimdor, and the entity lost and gained, and in the spirit of spite was the loss, in that of succor and aid the gain. In the urge as seen, that ability, determination, and ability for the entity to defy and carry out through mental forces that as is right to the entity; yet is seen that conflicting again - the entity will fight for right or wrong, whichever the entity is sided with.

17. In the one before this we find in the rebuilding in the Holy City. The entity then among those who aided in the first building, see? and under the direction then of the Tyrrhenians [people of Tyre?], and then in the name Dieuo, and the entity gained then in that period, gaining much from the association with those who were as the chosen peoples, and the association with custom, religion, and place, brought much change in the present period, for the pliableness of the mental forces, and the abilities of the subconscious, is in that way of being as the pivot of the entity’s experiences through a material force.

18. In the one before this we find in the plain country during that period when the peoples over-ran the country between that of the high kingdom and that of now the Persian kingdom. The entity then among those afterward known as Chaldean brought much destruction to those who would waylay and capture and put under service those of the plain. The entity then in the name Djdidj, and the ruler of the plains that were successful, and brought to self destructive forces through the inability to gain success and power over others. In the urge is seen that of the desire of study of all forces pertaining to latent powers, whether in the fields of science, history, chemistry, or of mental forces.

19. In the one before this in that Egyptian period when the division came between what would be termed Church and State. The entity then among those who were as the builders of the law, giving rather to that that set the mysticism about the worship - losing in the inability to give self to the worship without bringing the condemnation from the ruler. Hence the urge in the present, the undesirability of the entity to serve others in a lower capacity, yet in same would the entity gain, and only through same will the highest forces and abilities come to the entity. In the name then Atio.

20. In the ability, then, in the present plane, and that to which the entity may attain:

As is seen from the compilation of the gains and losses, as might be termed, through the entity’s experience in the earth’s plane, the lack of the knowledge of the Creative Energy in and through the mental man has been the hindrance to the entity. The gaining is in that of the losing of self in service to others.

22. Then, to gain the best, to make the most in the present experience, first seek the Lord while He may be found, and apply those truths to that of ministering to the body, the mind, through those efforts of the entity, under the guidance of those truths.

23. We are through for the present.

Gentlemen:-

I would very much appreciate your sending to me literature and advice regarding the founding and management of a hospital. I would appreciate the advice of the American College of Surgery on this matter and any personal advice you may give me regarding our proposed plan to start a small fifteen room hospital in a small community to be expanded to a seventy-five room hospital as the Institution grows. Our plan is to run the hospital as an open Institution and not as a closed private affair. Kindly send this information to me care Blumenthal Bros., 74 Broadway, New York.

My dear Mr. Cayce

Mr. Kahn and Mr. Blumenthal interested me in the propose[d] hospital at Virginia Beach. I believe that Mr. Kahn spoke to you about me. At their suggestions I am sending to you a list of questions that I am very anxious to know the answers of. I also would like a horoscope or Life reading. I am enclosing the necessary compensation. You will have the body before you of Dr. [2739] New York City.

You will examine this body mentally and physically. As to the connections of the proposed hospital Cayce Hospital] which is to organize at Vir. Beach, according to the readings which have been given.

You will discuss in detail the manner and means of organizing this hospital and how this Doctor should develop it. Then you will answer the questions which we will ask you.

1. Is this Doctor the right man to organize this hospital.

2. Has he the proper knowledge needed for development of this hospital according to the lines laid down by the reading.

3. Will he be able to develop this hospital without additional medical aid.

4. Is this the proper beginning for this hospital.

5. How large a building is necessary to begin.

6. Has the Doctor the business ability to organize and to develop this institution.

7. What expense will be necessary at the beginning.

8. What date should the hospital be started.

9. Shall the Doctor retain any of his practice in New York.

10. What sort of compensation should be arranged for the Doctor and the hospital.

11. How shall the fees between the hospital and Doctor be arranged.
