This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of December, 1926, in accordance with request made by Edgar Cayce himself.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of EC, present in this room and the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you. You will give the interpretation and lesson to be gained from each of these, as I read them to you, and you will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding same.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, EC, present in this room. This we have had before.

3. The dreams, as we see, come to the entity through those conditions as have been outlined, and should be used in the way and manner as has been indicated for the entity.

5. (Q) Sunday Morning, 12/19/26. “The ruler of some oriental country died, and his daughter - I couldn’t save these people or do anything for them unless I married this girl. But, as I was already married, this country was to pay a whole lot of money to my wife to free me so I could marry, which she agreed to - but the boys didn’t like it, but she insisted that it would be alright, as they could have plenty of money and could get whatever they wanted. Preparations were being made for this occasion with a great many dignitaries from the oriental country being on hand, but I kept putting it off, as I couldn’t bring myself to go through with the performance. It finally came down to the time I was to bid my family goodbye at one, have my divorce and everything at two, and between that and three was to marry and leave in an aeroplane. Again I saw this almond eyed girl. She was pretty as such beauties go, and very elaborately dressed, especially had on a very high hat. Then it seemed we had to have a baby to carry back to this country, and I went to Mrs. House - she was sick in bed - had just a tiny little baby, so she and her husband agreed that I could have the baby if I’d pay them so much money. I looked at the child, but in handling it, it slipped out of my hands and went between the bedstead and the bedding, and I couldn’t find it. She finally located it, though, and fixed it up into a little bundle so it could be easily carried in the plane. It lacked twenty minutes of one when all these dignitaries filed in again, and I felt very much impressed with their silk robes and pajama-like vestures. But I sent them away again, and told them I had thirty minutes yet before I had to decide. That’s when I woke up. (A) We find this presented in this emblematical way and manner as pertaining to those conditions which arise in the life of the entity from time to time.

This representing, then, the specific condition regarding trip to a warm country, and the dignitaries representing men of means in the financial way and manner, as does the daughter and the peoples to be saved those characters of information desired by these people. The monies as seen represent the returns that may be gained through such efforts.

The scene regarding the child as necessary: That necessary, or a portion of that concerning individuals that should be considered, as seen [in] the illness, yet the desire of the entity [is] seen to aid when possible, even at expense of self’s own interest or feelings. Then, these should be considered.

As to the time seen, and the attitude of the various members of the family: That each should be considered in their own way and channel, and the actions as respecting same may be receiving that necessary for the better conditions of each.

In the continual putting off is seen the results [that] may be expected through such efforts, that the returns will be sufficient unto the period, yet not in the great quantities as might have been hoped for, but greater in good to others and the ability to help more, and to give to many the possible change of the assistance and aid as necessary, see?

6. (Q) The next dream, Monday morning 12/20/26. “I met some beautiful girl - I didn’t know what her name was, though she told me when I went to her home and to her room. We felt very much in love with each other. I then met her mother and grandmother, and told them I was very much in love with the girl and wanted to marry her, although I was fifty-two years old and she was only eighteen - that we were very much in love with each other - and I was sure it could be arranged with my wife in some way. We then seemed to be preparing to go to church, and I was to return and have lunch with them, and if possible arrange so they would think I was gone, but wouldn’t leave but would go to the girl’s home again. We went out to get in a carriage, when I saw two of my sisters coming up the street in a little phaeton, driving a bay horse, and I told the girl that I wanted her to meet my sisters, so we let the carriage with the mother and grandmother go ahead, and we crossed the road to the right hand side, and stopped the carriage as it drove up. My sister’s little girl was sitting on the lap of one of the girls. I asked them if we couldn’t ride with them, and they said ‘Yes,’ and I went to introduce them but I realized I didn’t know what the girl’s name was - but I told her what their names were, she got in the buggy and sat in Mary’s lap. I sat in the foot of the buggy. (A) Again we see the emblematical conditions respecting these same forces and elements which enter in the life, and it showing, through this emblematical way and manner, that only by the most open-handed, most concrete manner, may the conditions or elements be handled, that the best may come from same - for in any under-handed or any manner that would bring reproach on any would prove detrimental to the entity, and to the families who would be connected with same. Then act in that manner.

R2. 12/21/26 EC’s letter to Mr. [195]: “I rec’d a wire the other day from the people in Florida, wanting me to come down as soon as possible - stay as long as I would. They propose that the whole office be moved. Whether this would be a wise thing or not, I can’t decide. The rdgs., as you know, have told us that we might expect financial assistance for our work from this source. [254-33, etc.] But they do not propose anything more than the full expenses for the trip, and I suppose whatever we might be able to make while there. They do not expect to take all of the time - only from three to four rdgs. a week, which would be principally on business propositions, I am sure. I’d like to have the opinion of those who are really interested in the welfare of the work, as to what would be the proper course to pursue. Of course, I couldn’t take the boy Edgar Evans] in his present condition [from burns, etc.] - and when he is able to get about, I am sure he ought to be in school, for he won’t want to miss his grade, and being out another month might make him do it. I know I have to think about that too, and if I was to go I know it would be the right and best way, and the only way, for us all to be along. What do you think about it?

“Possibly the enclosed dream [294-89] has something to do with it. I don’t want to burden you with a whole lot of unnecessary stuff, but this seems so unusual, that I felt it would really be interesting to you. Then, too, I want to get the angle that those who are studying the work gain from the information, that I may better prepare some questions on this rdg. I’d appreciate it if you have the opportunity to study this over a bit and let me know what you think and what you would suggest asking, as well as letting me know what you think about Florida.”

R3. 12/26/26 Mr. [195] wrote: “The interpretation of your dream was real deep. I have read it over several times and there is one place that I can’t quite grasp. However, it has to do with you and your work, and the different urges or natures of yourself as well as your fellow men. I will read it over and study it at my leisure, but in it as far as I can now see there is no warning or advice for the present. It is a fact that in the future when we have advanced further, on reading an old interpretation such as one of yours, we will immediately grasp the meaning and get the full import or rather purport.

“As to Florida, it would be my first impression not to go, for the reason that you went down to Va. Beach for the better work and development as was given to do in several rdgs. In giving the matter more consideration, however, there may be some connection or something whereby finances or influence will be won for your cause by accepting the proposition, and it would be my advice to have a rdg. made, asking the proper thing to do - which would tend to bring to a better working basis in the shortest time relative to the institute and your work - to go or not go.”
